you have to open the txt file each time you want to make a new GCT file.
No offence, but I said clearly. Explain it to me more clearly please. I suck at this stuff. I can't believe I managed to download the Homebrew Channel and Ocarina lol.

I don't get the whole TXT file thing, GCT files are the codes though, right?

yes. the GCT files are the codes, created by the code manager, which has codes you select to be in the GCT file, which came from a txt file, that should probably be named "RSBE.txt", but at least has the exact same format which the first post has, and is the txt file you can download at the first post.

open that txt file in the code manager, and it should have the codes pop up again. that's the process to create a new .GCT file with different codes.

1. open code manager
2. say open .txt and choose the txt file with the brawl codes in them
3. select which codes you want (not too many), and enter in specific values if the particular code needs it
4. select "Export to GCT"
5. name the file "RSBE01.GCT" and save it somewhere
6. move it to the folder "codes" on the root of the SD card

and you can't modify existing .GCT files, you must create a new one each time if you want different codes.

Where do I get these txt files though?

Thanks for explaining.

Well the thing is, I can connect to Wi-Fi, it's just that in With Anyone mode, when the match is about to start (where is says "ready to Brawl"), it not only freezes, it creates a really annoying sound, and I have to manually turn off the console by either unplugging it or holding the power button.

I've found that it would freeze if I used the Character Swap, which is kinda useless anyway, since it thinks that you died in a match.

I haven't tested it against friends, but I'm guessing the same thing happens.

Also, I had Brawl on for a while, the demos were running, etc. But eventually, I turn on the TV to find that it's just plain black. And once again, I gotta turn off the console manually.

if it does that stuff without codes on, then it could be the disk.

Three words:

Copy

Paste

Save

just copy everything on the first post after the "blank:", all the stuff that is not bold (i'll change it) and don't include my signature

be sure to leave one line blank at the top, and have all the text following.

but right now something is messed up with how i posted the comments for each code, so it won't be the best help right now.

Copying all of that would get me all of those txt files? I just want the Targest Test.

So do I just take that code and put something like RSBE or txt in front of it?

what about "the target test"?

if you want a single code, i'll make the text for you to just copy.

Can you them? Because I really only want that one code for now.

There it is. You hold L and it's a vote for target test. Once I copy the text, what do I do with it? How do I store it as a file? Sorry, I suck at this. What I'm saying might make no sense or not be relevant.

So what do I do with it now? I copy it, then save it to where? Then it's a txt file, right? Then I can just use the Cheat Code Manager?

Thanks anyways.

now copy all that into a txt file, including an extra empty line at the top. save the txt file, and open it in the code manager. then select the code, and make a .GCT file named "RSBE01.GCT" in the codes folder

i'm not even sure if the code works or not, so...

What codes did you use BESIDES character swap? If it was stage mods or character mods, that's why. Your save is forever corrupted unless you erase it and start over, that's the only way to fix your WiFi. You should have backed up your save file before using ANY code. And, don't tell me you can't because you can if you search for Savegame Extractor and to put it back on Savegame Installer (these are applications for the Homebrew Channel you can install).

meleemaster500, you really should put a warning in the first post about it, to BACK UP your save file before using ANY code. Because it CAN mess up your save.

it shouldn't mess up the actual game though, right? cause the only thing you'd lose that you couldn't replace would be records, friend codes, and any unsaved (on a SD card) stages, replays, and pictures.

everything else can be got back by replacing your save, or using hacks.

No, it can't mess up the game. However, some people don't want to have to reenter their friend's friend codes much less lose all their match data (I like that kind of stuff, dunno about anybody else). The main thing is your WiFi account as the FC will change (because it changes with each save) and you'd have to reenter FCs and wait for them to be confirmed again etc. etc. People should be warned, it's only right. Otherwise, you're gonna get people like Shin asking what's wrong with their game and etc. They won't know why because it isn't explained or warned of when using codes.

Hey thanks Falco, I really appreciate it. I don't have many people on my friends list, and hey, starting again could be pretty fun. I know I can easily download someone else's file, but where's the fun in that?

At least I don't have to buy a whole new freaking copy. I really should have looked into a save extractor.

Also, I indeed did use stage creator and character modifier codes. Oh well, I learned the hard way I suppose. I didn't think it would happen but oh well.

When you use the Savegame Extractor, the files for the save are not a .bin, it's not all one .bin it's a couple of files. The Wii cannot read those files and therefore you cannot copy it the normal way, that's where the Savegame Installer comes in. I don't know why you won't put the suggestion to back up their save, it's really easy... and they can back it up every week if they do something new on their save or something. It doesn't take anymore than 4 minutes to have your save back on your Wii if the one that's on there is corrupted.

Also, are you putting the correct credit on those codes? Hackers need proper credit, if you don't put who made it, I know some people could be a bit annoyed.

the original txt file had proper credit, and then i added more codes, and for a temporary time, until i can have the entire codelist filled, i just replaced the "all codes by Y.S. unless marked" to "most codes by Y.S.". the codes i currently added are easily traceable to the source, i'll mark every single code with correct credit, when i actually have time to work on it. i'm pretty busy to say the least.

and my warning did include "TO PREVENT THIS, USE THE HOMEBREW APPLICATION "SAVEGAME EXTRACTOR" TO SAVE YOUR BRAWL SAVE TO YOUR SD CARD."

Lol, thanks.

I finally did it, I just had to look for all files then click the notepad file then I got the code.

Time to mess with people's heads online.

Also, for those interested, a video of some of the codes in action.

Here

Not made by me, made by Phantom Wings who is one of the Brawl hackers. BTW, look at the Super Mario part and watch him roll, looks a little like wavedashing from Melee, no? I'd like that as a code on its own, but, that's just me.

Figured you guys would like this.

For the hold L for a vote to targest test do I need to have another code for the targest test already activated?

Edit: So I put on the stage modifier code and the hold L to vote for targest test code and I save it in the code file yet when I boot up Ocarina from the homebrew channel it says "No codes detected".

Why? I was using unrestricted camera yesterday, why won't these work?

For stage modifier I put 56 where the placeholder XX was because that was in the brackets where it listed Targest test under unique comment.

there's a problem making extra lines in the codes i posted on the first post, the format for the code should be

Name of code
000000 000000
000000 000000
Comments
[empty line]
Name of code
000000 000000
000000 000000
Comments

ect....

some of the comments have empty lines in the middle of them, which will screw the code manager up, i'll fix it soon
Did you fix it?

Because if not that's why mine isn't working.

I added all of those codes around 4:30

you shouldn't, but i havn't got that code to work. it would probably work better to have the stage modifier just be set to target test. but that might not work...

"no codes detected" means that ocarina does not see a file called "rsbe01.gct" in the codes folder, WHILE the US brawl disk is in the system.

no, i didn't fix it, but you should still be able make a GCT file, just the part where it lists all the codes will looked screwed up.

as long as you got a gct file by the right name in the codes folder on your sd card, with it in the system, and while the game is in, then all will work, but no guarantee on the codes.
