Watch out 2011! Oklahoma will be Smashing Mad with the continuation of Oh Snap! Oklahoma's largest and longest running tournament series is back and better than ever! Brawl players from around the region and beyond can expect the pain to be brought.
The last two Oh Snaps held an average of 100 attendees each!
4 states are interested so far, more to come!
So expect this to be a big epic tourney with big epic payouts!
And after an astounding revival of the OK Melee scene in 2010 we will be reintegrating Melee into this series, thats right Melee will be in full effect! Smashers unite! What this means is that we will bring enough competitive spirit and explosive energy into Oklahoma from across the Smash universe that only a world of ruin will be left in our wake!
Also.... now with Smash 64 and super effective Brawl Minus side events!
Oklahoma has learned alot hosting Oh Snap! over the years. We have both old guard TOs and new blood working to put together an inclusive, smooth running, and most of all supremely fun experience for the Southwest (and maybe even some of those nifty Midwesterners and beyond!)
This year HxC Lancenter will be helping us out with equipment and looking for excellent players to consider for sponsorships or support in major national and international tournaments. This tournament will be the first in a series to count toward your reputation with their company, so sign up at their site and do your best! The more people that sign up here, the more opportunity we will have for bonus pots, prizes, and side tourneys in the future!
THERE WILL BE HD RECORDING AND LIVESTREAM AT THIS EVENT SO GET PSYCHED! CHECKBACK FOR URL!

Stages[collapse=Brawl Stages]Neutral Stages for Singles and Doubles
- Smashville
- Final Destination
- Battlefield
- Yoshi's Story
- Lylat Cruise
- Pokemon Stadium 1
- Castle Siege
Counterpick stages for Singles and Doubles
- Brinstar
- Frigate
- Norfair
- Rainbow Cruise,
- Halberd,
- Delfino,
- Pictochat,
- Pokemon Stadium 2
All other stages are banned. If both players/teams agree on any stage you may play on it.
Stage Striking will be in effect for the first match of each set. The player with the lower port will get to choose the first strike. After each match, winner bans one stage, loser counterpicks stage, winner chooses character, loser chooses character. Continue until set is complete. Report your results promptly.
You cannot go back to the last stage you won in a set, unless agreed upon by the other player.
Double blind for character selection may be used if a player requests it.[/collapse]
Rules:
[collapse=Brawl Rules]
- 3 Stock
- 8 minute timer
- Items are set to "off" and "none"
- If the time runs out the victor is determined first by the number of stock remaining. If each player maintains the same number of stock, the victor is determined by damage percentage.
- Life stealing is allowed on teams.
- All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches)
- In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors.
- No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
- In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
- Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
- Stalling is banned.
Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Planking is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.
The Mage's DQ rule is also in effect:
2 Minutes Late: Warning/Loss of first stock
4 Minutes Late: Loss of first match of set
6 Minutes Late: Loss of set
Specific rules:
- DeDeDe's Infinite grab: You cannot Chain grab in place (not even once). The small step CG is banned as well. Normal CG is legal.
- The Infinite grab-release on ness/lucas is banned (do not even do it once). You must hit them out of the release, do not re-grab.
- Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
- If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
- MetaKnight Ledge Grab Limit Rule - All Metaknight's that enter a match will be under the LGL rule. Metaknights are allowed to grab the ledge a total of 40 times PER MATCH (assuming the game goes to timer). The numbers can be viewed after a match on the results screen. If you exceed the limit even by a single ledge grab you will lose your entire SET.
- Metaknight Stage Gliding Rule - Adapted from Xyro77. Metaknight is not allowed to glide under any stage more than 2 times in a row. He must land an attack in order to be able to reset the the stage glide count.
- Most of these rules are covered under “stalling” and are simply more articulate iterations of the “no stalling” rule. Judges will be on the tournament floor can be called in at any time to enforce this rule during a match. Play the game and have fun! Don't run/fly around the stage all day, that makes for a boring livestream amirite?
All Brawl rules apply to Brawl Minus side event.[/collapse]

- BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER! (this means N64 controller too if you want to play Smash 64 on N64)
- You are responsible for your own controller and name tag.
- Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played.

- Respect the setups and equipment.

disqualified from the tournament you are currently participating in.
- Turbo or programmed buttons of any kind are banned. You may use third party controllers or pads that have these features, but if you
are suspected of using the banned features you will not be allowed to use that controller any longer.
Housing:
Oklahoma has a strong Smash community. As such we will be working our best to provide housing for as many out of starters as possible. Out of State attendees: Priority will be given to those who have 4 or more hours of travel time.
If you receive housing at a smasher's place, please be respectful of their area and belongings and don't expect them to have bedding for each one of you. Please try to accommodate yourself with pillows and blankets because it may be a floor you will be sleeping on.
BRING THINGS TO SLEEP ON! MANY OF US HAVE LOTS OF FLOOR SPACE!
(Will be adding more spots and updating as they are filled)
SolidusSpriggan 10
Triforce of Chozo 3
The_Irish_Dude 4
Type_Ex 10
Please contact these people for housing and how many you are bringing. If there are too many of you in your crew for that host, please let me know. I will update assignments in the reply below.
I will update the first post as housing and equipment needs are offered and filled.
Although we will fill our homes to the brim with dirty smashers, housing space is ultimately finite, so I will link some nearby lodging options for those that wish to stay in a hotel or motel. Find out who is staying in a hotel and offer to help pay for some of the cost. By doing that you get housing AND its cheaper for everybody.
Some options include:
Motel 6 ~$50 + tx per night. This is one of the cheapest options. I recommend getting in touch with other smashers and cramming as many people into that room as possible. Of course there will only be 2 beds.
Norman Location (3 miles from the venue): http://www.motel6.com/reservations/...ccorMaps/M6ProximityResults.aspx?searchtype=C
I will update this list as I find more lodging options.
If people do end up in the hotels due to lack of housing, I will discount the venue fee for them but I need proof such as room key and a list of people in that room.
If you want a definite spot, please confirm ASAP that you are coming and whether you need housing or not.
