Definition of a meteor smash:
An attack that if connects with an opponent with a higher percentage in the air, will send them almost straight down.
A meteor smash only counts if it KO's the opponent and can only be recovered from with a meteor cancel.
If it connects with a opponent on the ground, It's like a regular attack.

Meteor Cancel:
Jumping out of a meteor. You are frozen for one second after a meteor spike,
but if you double jump or up-b immediately after that first second you can cancel the meteor smash.
Meteor canceling is also known as a meteor jump.

Meteor Smashes Alphebetical by Character:
A * Next to the name of the attack means it is a meteor smash under some conditions; usually what part of the attack connects.

so is it : 1. if it is a spike they CANT live 2. if it is a spike the cant meteor cancel.

THERE IS ONLY 1 SPIKE FOUND SO FAR.
falco's dair: when executed at 0% damage, almost no knockback.
marth's dair: same.
question-able: a made a thread aboput this in ganondorf place.

A spike (not a meteor spike) is a move which will send you in the downwards direction and cannot be meteor cancelled. Now this does not mean that if you spike someone that it is an instant death because at low percents the spike will not have enough knockback to kill them.

Luigi's down A ariel is not a meteor smash, i have tested it many times
it does spike if landed correctly but it might not be considered a meteor.

You forgot link's up-b. Usually at higher than 40% it works.

After the initial spin that does the most damage, if you hit someonewith the edge of the sword it sends them at a downward angle, usually killing them

Peach's dtilt is a meteor. Do two in a row on someone, if you do the second when they're still in the air it'll hit them into the ground. Also, you can kill someone with it at high % and receive the meteor bonus.

It's not a meteor smash though, just a pseudo-spike, like Ganon or Pika's uairs.

I know because my Link-using friend has edgeguarded me with it tons of times and I would meteor cancel it if I could.

I have the official guide too. A lot of things are spikes but not meteors. BTW, Samus's utilt never spiked for me but I kept getting meteor smash. Not all meteors spike I guess. Oh well, at least it almost always kills the enemy. I like shine spike too. :)

what about zeldas aerial down air doesn't that one meteor smash or w/e? It hits you down. So if it is considered a meteor smash then would that one be the weakest in the game?

Can we do a list of "spikes", now that there's a list of meteor smashes :p

Spikes (can't be recovered from) > meteor (canceled), after all.

Falco's Dair
Marth's Dair
Ganondorf's Down B
Captain Falcon's Dair (Top hitbox only, nipples and above)

Instead of using words like "aerial down A" use terms like "dair". everyone is familiar with this term throughout the site, and its less messy. Also there is really no need for the percentages.

There are many you didn't list, but one many people don't know is Falco's get up A move(after being knocked down) is a meteor.

Capt. Falcon's and Ganon's aerial Forward B are meteors.

fox-dthrow and dair(weakest meteor in the game)
fox's dair isn't a meteor, it's a weak spike.
fox's only meteor is the downthrow.

there're attacks that give the 'meteor' bonus and that can't be meteor cancelled, and meteor cancellables attacks that don't give the bonus, so it's confusing.

a cpu kirby or jigglypuff will always meteor cancel everything perfectly, so it's easy to look for meteors against them.

JFox, how is falco's get up A move a meteor ? it doesn't even send you down.

peach's downtilt is a meteor when sweetspotted.
peach's dair isn't a meteor

Screw you.
Peach's dair is, as Fox's, a weak spike.

Maybe to clarify: Samus' uptilt ACTS as a spike/meteor/attack which sends you down/whatever, but you CAN'T kill someone with it by spiking/meteoring them/whatever. ^^
