As far as when I played, the Japanese Staff women never said a word during the matches, except before the match explaining the rules to anyone who has never played smash, and also asking you which controller would you like to use.

pretty much the same they did come over and tell you to press b for your FS and they cheered me on occasion. " you fight good" o they would try to talk to me cause i literaly spent all day at that booth on both days
