Villager has Balloon Fighter's death animation from the NES game. Also, confirmed up special.

Looking at this, Villager actually jumps decently high after the balloons pop.
If he is able to grab the edge afterwards(I'm sure he'd be able to), I think the best way to recover in situations like that would be to stay below the ledge and work your way up. So if someone were to pop the balloons. The extra jump afterwards could either put you back onto the stage or grab the ledge. Just speculation though. I'm looking forward to the Villager.

So thank you 8bit era death animations?

Hey, Villager fans! I'm working on a project that you might have heard of called Project: Thank You Sakurai! (If you haven't heard of it, you should check it out.) and I'm currently doing a poll to determine which characters should be on the virtual card that we're making for him. I would appreciate it if you guys would check it out here and vote for who you like. The characters that you can vote on include any that were in brawl last time or any that are newcomers (like Villager, of course). Villagert looks to be a lock, but he could still use some more support. Thanks ahead of time for taking a little time out of your day to do this for me :D

So the Bowling Ball. Could this be a Forward Smash with tilts.

Down tilt can drop the Bowling Ball, forward can roll the Ball, and Up tilt could heave the Bowling Ball in the air.

If Villager can attack/move through his tree then I can definitely see the zoning potential. Shoot Lloid Rockets when they're far away and pepper 'em with Bairs until they get too close to get away from the tree. Pocket can be used to shut down enemy projectiles to an extent and the shenanigans could get better if he can heave his bowling ball somehow. It seems to be his FSmash and you can't exactly charge up dropping something, so maybe he'll rear back and throw based on how much it's charged?

Hey all,
I plan to participate at one of the Smash-Fest locations. Villager being my favorite so far, I plan to play as him the most. If able, I'll try to record any gameplay.
Hopefully everything goes as planned. . . Now I wait.

Easily the character that had the best first impression on me. I could tell you right now that, while Lilo did great, she only used a fraction of the potential.

And no one is to blame. Playing standing up like that, with three other characters, stage hazards, and items in play, in front of a crowd of thousands complete with commentary, yeah, I wouldn't be able to think either.

Villager actually impressed me. I was losing hope for Villager's viability, but after the invitational, it's been restored. Can't wait to try the demo tomorrow.

Not an issue at all. A lot of characters with good aerials that work only from the back (Jiggs, Samus, etc.) would kill to have that sort of functionality.

The Villager's aerials, especially the slingshots, fulfill VERY specific functionally, as it is used as a projectile. It would be a huge bother if the Villager ended up like Jiggs and spent the entire neutral game facing away from the enemy.

Is it me, or did the D-air Turnips seem to do alot more damage than I thought? These folks just might be a threat in the making...

While I agree, I do kinda wish his Fair was the fishing rod. It seems weird to me that it's the only thing not in his moveset(? I don't play AC...)

Seems that the number of turnips pulled out makes a bigger impact than I had thought.

My dreams have been fulfilled :D after watching that zone play he's everything I speculated and wished for. Hell even his recovery appeared to move a lot faster than I anticipated, or was that just me?

I didn't want to play Samus anymore so I went to Villager.

Out of all the characters I tried (I think all of them?), Villager was the most fun for me, since she was my style. Bowling Ball and Tree hit as hard as you would imagine for the amount of setup time involved. If you get good with reads, you can drop the bowling ball on people after they have extended their hurtbox.

Can't comment at what % you can get a guaranteed down smash into bowling ball, though. Would need to have more time with the game.

So what is bowling ball's command anyway?
Forward smash.

Doesn't seem to roll down sloped terrain. Would love to drop it on somebody who is recovering, but the game is super floaty so everyone most assuredly recovers from too high.

Played a healthy amount of Villager. Bair seems stronger than Fair. Nair seemed decent, Dair felt pretty powerful overall. Fsmash is VERY potent and does fall off platforms/ledges. If you use DownB and plant the tree you get new moves to replace DownB which can be used away from the sprout. Watering Can does something, not too sure it's great. Once you water it into a tree you get the Axe, which is very powerful but has serious cooldown (It has the same animation as if you swung at air in AC)

Weed pluck (DTilt) has a very small hitbox. Dash attack (dropping the plant) will go OFF platforms and maintains a hitbox as far as I know. Firecrackers (USmash) didn't seem very strong. DSmash does send opponents down if you hit them off stage since you can't pitfall them. UpB is really good.

A lot of videos uploaded with the Villager in them.

And yeah, the game looks a lot better when played by the folks at Treehouse.

I have a feeling the items he holds in this pose will be different each time.

Example: Shovel instead of the net and Fossil, or Gyroid, instead of the bug.

Does anyone know what move Villager's nair actually is? I've seen all his others, but not this one.

After playing a couple matches with him (my favorite character so far) I feel like side smash would have been perfect for the axe. While down special could be something else. Charging up the axe before swinging just makes sense

Does anyone know where I can find the Villager's victory theme?

This is the best I could find, but you'll have to hear it over the roar of laughter.

It's based on the title theme from the GC version, which you can hear at the start of the first Smash 4 trailer.

Ok cool, thank you very much.
I loved that theme.

Yeah... Not sure if it's just nostalgia, but listening to the title theme from that game makes me emotional. It's a nice song and, while the newer themes are nice, I am glad they chose it over the others.

Not a whole lot of people seem very interested in the Villager. I would say he seems to be the least popular newcomer, and more people are looking forward to playing as most of the returning characters than Villager.

Not like it's a bad thing. Samus mains in Melee were rare, but I couldn't say we were weak, either. Takes a certain kind of person, I suppose. :) When I see Villager, I see everything I could ever ask for.

Personally, I think Wii Fit Trainer is the least popular with Mii's following(if we count the newcomers after E3.)
I just hope that Villager has the potential to be top tier.
