Obscure/Cool things to do with Marth that are nowwhere near the best options.

I like to do cool/obscure things with Marth. I don't main, or secondary Marth, but I am confident in my ability to beat people my level, and contend with more experienced players with Marth. I don't do nearly any of the things that most Marth players do. I do SOME staple moves, such as double F-Air, and standard edgeguards, but I don't chain grab. (Only because I actually wasn't taught how, and I didn't find any info on how to do it, either. :x)

anyways, introductions on my Marth aside, the point of this thread is to gather information on cool/obscure/situational things to do with Marth. These things are usually not the best options in his arsenal, but I still prefer to do them, only because they are entertaining. I'll list some things I enjoy doing with Marth that are obscure/not as good as normal things.

1. D-Throw to turn around Jab reset. I know D-Throw to turn around D-Tilt, or even D-throw to turn around F-Smash are much better options, but jab resetting can lead into some interesting combos.

2. B-Throw to turn around U-Tilt. VERY situational, and also pretty hard to do. 1. They must be at 40% to any sort of follow up, regrab being the best follow up. And two, they must either not DI, or DI into you. Third, they must miss the tech. Finally, the timing is very quick, and it's easy to accidentally U-Smash when turning that quickly. It's bad, and impractical, but it's entertaining, and it's cool.

3. Walk-off aerial edgeguards. Something I see very little of. The only thing remotely like this that's used is WDing off the edge into a b-air. Walk-off aerials is a big part of Shiek's edgeguard game, and Marth has a good one, too. Walk-off N-Air, B-Air, F-air, Shield Breaker, and Counter are all viable options for different situations.

4. Playing Marth like Roy. It's pretty lol to play Marth like his lower tier counterpart, and something I enjoy doing.

Finally; something unrelated to playing against other people:

The final obscure thing I enjoy doing with Marth is going to either Slow-Mo Melee against a computer, or Training Mode and setting it to a very low speed, doing obscure combos with Marth.

Anyways: Everyone, please share your obscure tactics. I wish to include more random/bad/obscure tactics into my Marth's game!

I side B on shield sometimes (mostly against people that don't know how to punish it). I do the third hit down and then stop (many people try to shieldgrab here, which doesn't work).

I also up B Falco's when they hit me with ledgehop double lasers. It looks pretty sick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFlxZJaenrk 1:47 (very, very old video)

I like to use Shield Breaker to wear down shields so I can get more shield stabs (and so that people do more spotdodges for me to punish...lol) I'm looking for more shieldbreaker setups (for the purpose of actually breaking shields). Just general situations where I'd be able to wear down shields low enough for an uncharged (or slightly charged) shield breaker to break it. So far I've been using fair->d-tilt->jab...wait...shieldbreaker. Using shield breaker once when their on a platform, and again after a missed aerial has also had a fair amount of success.

I also make liberal use of D-smash as a GTFO move and as a way to outspeed opponents.

D-Smash is ****. I also U-Smash alot. Battlefield is my favorite level, so I frequently U-Smash instead of U-Tilt. Also; I make sure to yell out "There can only be one!" each time I U-Smash.

I was actually considering using usmash when your opponent is between you and the ledge on fastfallers. It's got set knockback, so they have to either tech, which sets you up for stuff, or don't tech, and get fsmashed.

I dunno, grabs are faster though.

Sounds neat. I'll try it. I'm wondering about U-Smashing as they recover. With the set knockback, I wonder what sort of oddities I can create. I'll experiment tonight.

I like to tech-chase with reverse Dolphin slashes. Its silly, risky, and easily avoided.
But God its funny! (Especially if they spot-dodged expecting a grab  )

WD from the ledge onto the stage with a D-smash is actually *kind of* useful, I like to do that too.

One particularly cool sequence I did the other day:

dthrow falco towards edge, predicted his tech towards me and charged upsmash->pivot jab reset-> charged fsmash.

sometimes I approach by doing perfect wavelands, and using the momentum to moonwalk. It looks really sweet. One thing I really want to do is edgeguard someone with moonwalk->shff dair edge cancel->fair stage spike. =)

My friend does that with Falco when he gets the close hit with fsmash. Freaking annoying, especially since I always miss the DI and die early =(
I do the same with Usmash, and Uair kills, though I usually shout out "You got Fox'd." rather than "Lol I'm a Fox."
