Notable characters that survived the spirit purge

I haven't seen a thread like this yet so I thought I'd make it.

We have all heard the popular characters deconfirmed(?), but what about the ones that survived?

This is the thread for this. I thought I'd give a small list of characters I know aren't spirits who possible for DLC. I would love if this was added to because I really want to sort out the possibilities.

IIRC, Castlevania Medusa was confirmed to be a spirit in the latest Direct.

Yea, I'm pretty sure we've seen both of them already.

Although she's not very likely, Cream the Rabbit is the only prominent Sonic character who hasn't been seen.

Not really. Medusa is a public domain character as with many others there are various incarnations. Both Castlevania and Kid Icaurus Medusa are totally different.

Oh, really? Well shoot I guess they’re knocked out, honestly if spirits really are deconformations (I’m torn on if they are or not), then I really don’t know how there could be many first parties for dlc at all, part of me thinks the dlc will be entirely third party for this reason

I thought Elma's chances were pretty good until I saw a picture of her spirit battle. Bandana Dee seemed likely too, but I'm not really sure what to think about spirits being deconfirmations either. I thought Elma's chances were pretty good until I saw a picture of her spirit battle. Bandana Dee seemed likely too, but I'm not really sure what to think about spirits being deconfirmations either. Given Nintendo is at the helm this time, I wouldn’t be surprised if the first parties are all promotional characters, which could potentially be fun still

I kinda hope that isn't the case, but I guess only time will tell.

I'm inclined to believe this as well. Spirits are this game's trophies, and in previous games, there were still trophies of the playable characters, often with alts and other iterations of them.

As far as I'm aware there's been no Captain Toad spirit spotted yet. Toadette from Treasure Tracker, yes, but no Captain.

Nor any footage of him in New Donk City sans that screenshot on the website. Where the heck is he?

In a more serious note, Adeleine hasn't been seen yet, nor are the more speculated TPs like Crash, Steve and B-K.

I'm inclined to believe this as well. Spirits are this game's trophies, and in previous games, there were still trophies of the playable characters, often with alts and other iterations of them.

Indeed. If regular Mario doesn't have any other non-smash related trophy or spirit, all it means is that he was planned to be in from the start and thus it was easy to plan such things around him. But it's a lot harder to do that for DLC characters that aren't planned until at least well into the game's development. You can't just leave the trophy out entirely and potentially not have the character represented at all if plans fall through... unless you believe they deliberately hold stuff back to sell us later like so many others did.

We don't know that Spirits disconfirm fighters, and we don't know how many Spirits there are.

Mipha is still missing. I expect her to show up eventually because of how obvious it would be if she were missing, but it's weird how she's the only Champion who wasn't shown off in the November Direct.

The reason I’m saying this in smash 4 Palutena had a red alt in smash 4 that resembles Viridi but that alt has Ben removed in ultimate and you remember the whole deal with Dark Samus and Chrom being removed alts as well right.

And before you point out reset bomb forest nope Chrom kills that one too he’s still in robins final smash and victory theme despite being playable so 2 chroms can happen as a matter of fact a few other characters get the same thing biggest one is duck hunt dog on the duck hunt stage

And as for her spirit she has multiple renders so could get one render for spirits and the other for fighter I’m taking into factor how many Singleton renders they have available

I’m not saying it’s happening it’s just interesting is all

Andy from Advance Wars is missing as mentioned before and it's even more puzzling that there's two spirits from his series shown off already but not the MC himself.

I fully expect him to show up as a Spirit in the final game but it's odd that he's the only MC not shown off among unrepresented first party franchises.

Fire Emblem Heroes is by far the highest profile 1st party game to not have a spirit shown off which is interesting considering its already represented with a song.

Also I don't think that spirits deconfirms characters. Unlike assist trophies we have fighters spirits...

I would lean towards Sami for DLC personally. Being an infantry specialist who's always depicted carrying weapons she better represents the soldiers of the Wars series.

I mean i'm in no position to be picky about anything and at this point i'd take any Advance Wars character I can get but the series should be represented by it's MC and not a side character.

I do like Sami (wouldn't have her in my avi if that wasn't the case lol) but Andy I feel not only deserves inclusion being the MC and all but also because of his unique wrench/healing capabilities and how his aesthic stands out from the cast.

Of course that being said, I'd love for Sami to be an Echo Fighter of Snake.

I don't think any spirit of unrepresented third-party franchise was going to make it in anyway (barring Shantae and Rayman). Which is to say, were we really ever going to get Crash Bandicoot and Banjo-Kazooie spirits to "soft-deconfirm" them?

Not to rain on anyone's parade but... Not being "seen" as a spirit doesn't mean that they aren't one.

Kirby is the only character that seemingly didn't get caught up in Galeam's life snatching light.

That crap engulfed the entire universe...hell it even swallowed up the multiverse even.
Galaxies gone. Whole planets wiped out across the stars and beyond.

Kirby got a cheap out with the warp star but where does that thing even go?
Where ever it was, it was apparently safer than literally "everywhere else" in existence.

Saying that other characters "survived" is a stretch.
If gods and spirits (King boo and other ghosts) aren't even safe from being eradicated
I highly doubt any character on plane of reality survived due to any ability they might have.

Keep on doing what you're doing though. I was just being a killjoy.
