No one finds screen stretches funny (except for you). I thought that was obvious. Clearly you need to lurk forums more.
Ok, regardless if anyone else found it funny, I found it funny. I'm not mother Theresea, spreading goodwill where I go. I do things that amuse me, regardless of whether someone feels like bawwing about it, regardless of how asinine or inconsequntial it is.

I hate when people do this.

Could you explain what you're facepalming at?
I was being sarcastic and you were missing it.

No, that's what a fanboy is. It's not "my definition".QUOTE]

My definition is someone who blindly follows something regardless of the actual information relevant to the thing they follow blindly, and openly attack and avoid all other similar things that aren't the thing they follow.

Also, who is the arrogant one now, claiming that their definition is the right one (hint; you)? You can't preach to the choir and be a hypocrit (well, I mean you sort of have to be a hypocrit to Preach in the first place, but that's beside the point).

I meant you have to tolerate them. As in, accept that they exist.
I was only talking to you. I went "crazy" after an offhand comment that you made in response to that other person.

How could I possibly deny that they exist? Are you stupid?

This comment obviously doesn't exist, despite the fact that I read it and responded to it.

My whole comment was 1 sentence, and I didn't even berate the guy. I bet HE doesn't even care that I said it, but you have to gallop in like your god**** Gallahad swing your e-pecker around, policing the internet.

The day is once again saved by FirustheHedgehog; a man so smart and clever he rips off of a popular video game character to creat his forum persona. What a swell, respectable ******.

And that's my pathology anyways. Call me weird, stupid, etc. if you want, but even if I see a comment left 10 months ago, if it's full of fail and idiocy I'll respond to it.
****, he's also a ****ing TIME COP too! Holy ****, is there no escape from the Justice Clutches of the Internet Champion Firus!?

I still don't get what you're hinting at. Generally, an analogy comes with some sort of a description of what you're saying and then the analogy supports your point more. You said that fanboys know the game better and then proceeded to go into your analogy, and then called me an "a-hole".
I'll spell it out for oyu because you're stupid.

Melee: Casual players see it as a fun party game.

Those that play it a lot and know more about it know that it is a deep fighting game.

People who didn't spend the time to play the game are ignorant of these aspects, and are therefor UNFIT TO PASS JUDGEMENT UPON IT.

You won't go to a courtroom, have the jury simply look at the defendent, and the give a verdict. They sort of, you know, spend a LOT OF TIME flushing out the case, researching motives, alibis, finding eveidence in order to reach a verdict. Sometimes evidence even comes in later, and the verdict is reversed!

But seriously, people who know more about ANYTHING are always better people to listen to than those who aren't immersed in the material. Experts are experts for a reason. If they weren't, they'd be you.

Also, you are an a-hole.

Well, if someone is an insane and devoted fan of something they probably immerse themselves in it, and when you do that, you tend to LEARN MORE ABOUT IT than someone who just skims through it. HURRRR I'm Firus, I can't grasp basic concepts like enthusiasm amd learning.

But I guess I'm stupid for not understanding it when YOU screw up. It's my fault.
If you weren't stupid you wouldn't have to guess that you were. You would be smart enough to concretely know that you are stupid, but apparently you are so stupid that you can't even tell whether or not you are stupid, so you have to resort to guessing.

I don't think it was completely your fault that you turned out stupid. Maybe your parents are stupid and passed it on to you, or maybe you are just too lazy to put effort into not being stupid. I can't totally pin this on you. Cut yourself some slack man.

I never exploded anything into a huge thing. When someone does something stupid, that's a generic, "way to do something stupid" reaction that I have. Maybe you just misinterpreted it as being bigger than it was. Understandably, because you can't see what my emotions are, just what I'm saying, a large flaw in the internet.
I said a comment that, had you not have responded, would have faded into nothingness, never to be seen again. What you DID due was passive-agressively flame me for a comment you had no business butting into. I'm sure ol' whats-his-name can stand up for himself.

Also, I can read that you were being a **** and attacking me, despite it having nothing to do with you. You couldv'e easily posted something like, "I disagree with you and here's why," but instead opted to flame me.

Context is easy to pick up, and so is tone. Sarcasm is difficult, unless someone beats you over the head with it.

If you really interpreted it as "exploding", then that would explain why you flamed me for seemingly no reason.
This scenario is tantamount to me making a your mom joke to Paul, you over hearing it, walking over, and saying, "Well, at least his mom isn't dead like yours, you ****er."

That's extreme, but the extremity helps to illustrate my point.

By the way, it was just to express how much of a jerk you're being. I never really felt sorry for saying something about it.
facepalm.png

See, I use this because it was obvious you felt no remorse for being a *******, and I was just going to play along with what you said, acting like you were being sincere, when it was obvious you weren't. Then what you should've done was known that I was being facetious because you were obviously being facetious. What you did was being to stupid to understand that I was being sarcastic, or being so condescending as to assume that I hadn't realize you were being sarcastic.

*******.

But everyone is different. Again, give the guy the respect of at least asking him. It's altogether possible that he did discover these things. Perhaps he looked them up or stumbled upon them -- I looked up speed tricks, sequence breaking, etc. for Metroid Zero Mission during my first run.

I can see where you're coming from, you just need to acknowledge the guy
This man has given me no reason to acknowledge/respect his viewpoint, considering he did nothing to explain it, where as I, having been questioned on it, have pointed out a handful of things that I am aware of, whereas he has disapeared, and in his wake stands a lost moron .

But this is assuming that NMH is at the same level of a work of art. I see that you said that you are not saying it's a work of art, I'm not addressing that. I'm asking, who's to say that NMH's that complex that it takes an expert to be able to truly understand it when there are much more complex games out there that you don't need an expert to appreciate?
NMH's is easily enjoyable and complex without having to be an expert. But there is a difference between reading a book and reading the spark notes on the book. There is also a difference bewteen those things and rwading the book several hundred times, and writing multiple thesison it. IF you simply read the book you'll get out all of it that you need to, as opposed to blowing through it without thinking.

Also, you don't need to be an expert to love MElee. I loved it before I played it in tournaments, and loved it EVEN MORE when I started attending them. When I played casually, my friends and I would play it for hours on end. I know of other people that would maybe play it for an hour once a month. These are the people I am referring to, and while I am assuming the man in question is one of these people, I have at the very least supported my viewpoint on why I belive him to be so, while he ha left forever, because he DOESN'T CARE.

Also, would you please list some games that oyu don't need to be an expert to appreciate? I'm not arguing this point, but am curious as to hwat your response would be.

You don't even need to play No More Heroes to appreciate the art direction, stlye, story telling, characters, etc. The concept a lone is praise worthy.

And furthermore, if it takes an excessive amount of time to become an "expert" and enjoy the game to its full extent, then is it really a game that should be given a perfect 10? If a game is great, it should be enjoyable right off the bat, at least to an extent. If someone didn't think it was that good right off the bat, why would they put in extra time (not just playing through the game entirely, replaying it) to enjoy it a little bit more.
A perfect game would be one that appeals to all levels of gamer, and giving them customized depth depending on how they want to play. I'm not saying NMH is perfect, I'm saying it is better than people give it credit for. Melee is exactly like that, because you can choose to play in tournaments and use AT's, or choose not to. You have so many choices it's ridiculous. However, that is a MULTIPLAYER game. A single player game has to have enough depth to engage the player, and extra depth to appeal to the hardcore gamer.

No More Heroes is enjoyable right off the bat, but it will get old if you don;t use your brain enough to actively do something different in it. ANY game will get boring if you do the same thing over and over. Which is why games have "level up," so that you character get's a new tool to use that keeps things fresh. If you don't use these tools, it is YOUR fault, not the game designers.

You get so many level ups in NMH it is ridiculous. You get at least 1 new wrestling move EVERY stage, not to mention fighting techniuqes, new swords, new combos because of new swords and wrestling moves, new abilities, etc. Every stages fighting is different just because you get these upgrades, let alone the fact that all the boss fights are unique and awesome.

To you it is awesome without it. That was my point. Super Metroid was easily in my top 10 games of all time before I tried those things. With them, it's easily in my top 5, and most likely my favorite game of all time. But everyone has different tastes, so you cannot say for sure that the game is awesome without those. I also found Sonic and the Secret Rings to colossally suck and Sonic '06 to be highly underrated. But for many people, it's the opposite. That doesn't mean that I did something wrong in playing them, it just means that I like different things. Those types of differences in opinions should be collected into the overall score for everyone. For your score, you can (obviously) have what you want.
Yes, I can. Before I learned this stuff I thought it was awesome, but then I learned the stuff and it become way too awesome for humanity to handle.

Also, the fact of the matter is that if you are biased to the bland medicority that is n everything popular that you inherehntly dislike something different because you have a different taste, you are an idiot. When you take in something you have to be as ibjective as possible, otherwise your predispositions are going to completely ruin the experience for you, which is what I expect happens because a lot of people are stupid.

IT's really all about articulating why you think things suck or are sweet, and the person that articulates it the best is correct. This is how a debate works.

As for the side missions, I was really just playing devil's advocate. As someone who hasn't experienced it myself, I can't say for sure, I'm just putting out the possibility.
Regardless, my point still stands.

Judging the game? No, I'm speculating. I'm holding my final judgment until I actually play the game, that'd be just stupid to pass judgment beforehand.
Speculation is still judgement, just preliminary judgement. You build up a disposition to something before you even partak in it from speculation. Objectively evaluating it becomes more difficult.

I'll finish the rest when I get home.

It's obnoxious. The fact that you do things that amuse you whether or not you have the entire world fuming just proves that you are selfish.
You probably don't care that you are. However, just know that you are.

I was being sarcastic and you were missing it.

My definition is someone who blindly follows something regardless of the actual information relevant to the thing they follow blindly, and openly attack and avoid all other similar things that aren't the thing they follow.
You can't facepalm at someone not recognizing poor usage of sarcasm on the internet.

Sarcasm is best used if it's obvious, and if it's not, add in that "/sarcasm" or "[/sarcasm]" or some other indication. What may be obvious to you isn't obvious to others.

Also, who is the arrogant one now, claiming that their definition is the right one (hint; you)? You can't preach to the choir and be a hypocrit (well, I mean you sort of have to be a hypocrit to Preach in the first place, but that's beside the point).
That's like saying it's arrogant to claim that the definition of...oh, I don't know, "computer" that you've given is THE definition.

By the way, you say you never open your mouth unless you know what you're talking about...yet you opened your mouth without knowing how to spell "hypocrite". If you want to live by that rule, don't speak until you thoroughly know the English language (or at least to an extent that you don't misspell "hypocrite").

You're just nitpicking now. You know what I meant, and if you didn't, I meant to accept that they exist rather than calling them stupid and saying they're wrong. Accept them as in don't try to call them wrong.

I'm not policing the internet, I'm yelling at someone who I found to be a jerk. I don't care if he cared, I did. I responded to you on principal, because you automatically assumed the guy played the game wrong when he could have genuinely disliked it. I never flamed you. Again, you seem to have missed what I said about flaming; it involves personal attacks. I didn't call you stupid, ********, or tell you you would end up flipping burgers. Then YOU flamed ME.

The day is once again saved by FirustheHedgehog; a man so smart and clever he rips off of a popular video game character to creat his forum persona. What a swell, respectable ******.
No. You're just being an ***hole now (Yes, I called you one. I think you deserve it at this point.)

It's called a FAN CHARACTER. If you look at my profile, you can see my sprite of said character.

By the way, YOU FAIL AT SPELLING. Spell "create" right. (Rather than resorting to your level of personal attacks, I'll attack every spelling mistake you make.)

Pointless, stupid, annoying comment
No.

I'll spell it out for oyu because you're stupid.
Funny, you spelled out "you" incorrectly and called me stupid.
Try proofreading next time.

MINDLESS FLAMING^2000
About this point in your post I stopped even bothering to read, because you called me stupid multiple times when I think I was actually rather polite to you (if it didn't come off that way, that's how it was meant) in my last post. You're right, you are a troll, you're a flamer, and I'm done wasting my energy on you. So you can declare it a victory for yourself if you really want. But I stand by my previous statement; you don't win by flaming someone so much until they get tired of taking abuse from someone who's clearly just an ***hole who doesn't care what they do as long as they're happy. I hope you have fun being rejected by society, who doesn't like being abused for your amusement.

Also, I won't bother replying to you again to spare everyone else in the thread who actually wants to discuss the game.

I didn't get to finish writing because I forgot to do it when I got home from work. I did a bunch of other stuff instead.

It's obnoxious. The fact that you do things that amuse you whether or not you have the entire world fuming just proves that you are selfish.
You probably don't care that you are. However, just know that you are.
The problem with this statement is that I'm selfish...ON THE INTERNET. NOTHING ON THE INTERNET MATTERS. The internet is NOT and WILL NEVER BE SERIOUS BUSINESS.

You can't facepalm at someone not recognizing poor usage of sarcasm on the internet.

Sarcasm is best used if it's obvious, and if it's not, add in that "/sarcasm" or "[/sarcasm]" or some other indication. What may be obvious to you isn't obvious to others.
I felt it was pretty obvious, but I suppose I do give you too much credit. I'll be sure to use bright colors next time.

That's like saying it's arrogant to claim that the definition of...oh, I don't know, "computer" that you've given is THE definition.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fanboy

Yeah, I'm not seeing an official definition of fanboy here. But yeah, I'M the arrogant one here.

By the way, you say you never open your mouth unless you know what you're talking about...yet you opened your mouth without knowing how to spell "hypocrite". If you want to live by that rule, don't speak until you thoroughly know the English language (or at least to an extent that you don't misspell "hypocrite").

YES! This is the best part! The part where your arguments fall apart so you resort to spelling errors! Huzzah! I win!

Yeah, I didn't proofread this post because I was leaving work for the day, and when I got home I went into "have a life" mode and had to not only take care of things like bills and rent, but I also had to submit my absentee ballot, get groceries, and after that I chilled with my roommate. Then I woke up this morning, went to check smashboards, and remembered that I forgot to finish my post, let alone proofread it.

But yeah, you burned me real good. So good that you had to go back and edit your post to fix some of your own mistakes. But yeah, you ARE perfect when it comes to grammar and spelling.

You're just nitpicking now. You know what I meant, and if you didn't, I meant to accept that they exist rather than calling them stupid and saying they're wrong. Accept them as in don't try to call them wrong.
It's not about them being wrong, it's about them not being right, or being less right than someone else.

Also, I already told you, I DO NOT have to accept anyone's opinion, but I do have to tolerate them. Learn2read.

I'm not policing the internet, I'm yelling at someone who I found to be a jerk. I don't care if he cared, I did. I responded to you on principal, because you automatically assumed the guy played the game wrong when he could have genuinely disliked it. I never flamed you. I believe imposing your principals on others is a form of fascism. Don't think that your principals are the only ones that matter, let alone that ANY principals matter on the internet (they don't).

Also, you can't even say that your post was not a passive aggressive attack on me. I mean, you can, but then you'd just be lying.

No. You're just being an ***hole now (Yes, I called you one. I think you deserve it at this point.)

It's called a FAN CHARACTER. If you look at my profile, you can see my sprite of said character.
Yes, because that's way cooler and more original.

By the way, YOU FAIL AT SPELLING. Spell "create" right. (Rather than resorting to your level of personal attacks, I'll attack every spelling mistake you make.)
Now you're just letting me win.

You burned me real good because I typed a word wrong while typing many words very quickly, and then not having the time to proofread. Boy do I feel silly (note: I don't).

Funny, you spelled out "you" incorrectly and called me stupid.
Try proofreading next time.

I actually read that, thought it was funny, and had planned on putting "<sic>" after it and then "(irony!)", but was beaten to the punch by the tactful Firus! Also, I don't expect you to know what sic means, so wiki it.

About this point in your post I stopped even bothering to read, because you called me stupid multiple times when I think I was actually rather polite to you (if it didn't come off that way, that's how it was meant) in my last post. I hope you have fun being rejected by society, who doesn't like being abused for your amusement.
You heard it folks. I WIN AGAIN!

Now and forever!

BACK ON TOPIC

I wonder if they plan on putting any platforming elements in this one. I felt that that could've easily made NMH super ****.

Can we just call this the No more Heroes thread? There isn't one and since this one is up why not rename it...

Tsubaki MKIII is old. I wonder if the new Beam Katana's are more like Light Sabers...
God, I hope not, because I thought the Blood Berry was way cooler because of the punk aesthetic.

C'mon, Sliq. Cut the kid a break already. We know you have better things to do than piss people off. I mean, you're a family man. Think of the kids.

As for NMH itself:

I've never played it before. I'll have to give it a shot sometime.

I should make a Sliq troll combo video.

You are seriously amazing, my favorite quote being this gem. "I bet HE doesn't even care that I said it, but you have to gallop in like your god**** Gallahad swing your e-pecker around, policing the internet."

Too good Sliq, too good.

Edit: In a related note, Sliq wins the argument because I stopped reading words after a while and decided to only look at pictures. Sliq has awesome pictures.
