Nah, I like it here in this thread. Gives me a place to shout my crazy conspiracies without too many people outright shutting me down. Geno thread is just stressing me the hell out right now, and I've got enough irl stress at the moment. Don't really need any more.

Paula is awesome. Both as a spirit in this game and her character as a whole. Her, Zekrom, Bandana Waddle Dee (#bandanaalliance) Groudon, and Kuma are my most used so far. Though I just got Bass, and he's one of my edgy babies so I'm gonna probably use him quite a bit too.

I did fight Hinawa. Twice. Lost miserably both times.

Yes, you can rechallenge the spirits in WoL. That's the main thing I don't like about the spirit board, that you can't rechallenge the spirit you lost to, or at least not right away

I’ll make sure the possibly final PowerPoint is perfection whenever I start it.

Also I did play Luc’s Classic Mode. Didn’t notice anything too odd... But I can always play it again.

Meta Knight’s though is kinda cool. You fight a character and what could be considered their doppelgänger. Like Link and Dark Link. Lucas and Claus alt were one of the levels.

I felt as though Lucas was the only appropriate choice to use.

When I heard he was 15,000 before I played, I made sure that I always had above 15,000 gold just in case he appeared in the shop. I didn't buy much from the shop for this very reason. I still want to challenge him on the spirit board though. Maybe now that I've seen him he'll appear more easily.

I personally don't know much about it myself as it's in Japanese and is INCREDIBLY rare. I'm not even sure if I've seen a picture of it. All I know is that while someone other than Itoi wrote it which gave them creative liberties. HOWEVER. Itoi did approve of it meaning that Ninten wouldn't be forced to use his original render from 89. People could argue that it's still not canon, but it it's Itoi approved just like the commercial was, I don't see why Sakurai can't use aspects from each seeing that Itoi isn't super anal with how Ninten looks. I'm not sure where people got the misconception there.

Thanks for explaining! With this, Ninten has many possibilities for a new design. The Japanese Mother 1 commercial design, the novel design, or, the most exciting, a brand new design!

If there is a new design, I think it should still have a bandana. That's one of the things I like about Ninten and his design

Itoi honestly loves the fanbase so I really don't understand where this "Extremely protective" thing came from. If it's about Mother 4's legal troubles, he actually had nothing to do with it. That was all Nintendo.

I'm thinking that the Bandana stays regardless simply to give him a difference in the torso design of the three. Ness has a backpack and Lucas has nothing, so a Bandana could be a great distinguishing feature.

I guess what I'm saying here is that Ninten still could very well be this character still. Especially with how secretive Nintendo was about this new theme. Yeah they do. But I'm also pretty sure most of the Zelda spirits don't specify the specific game either. I found a few more Spirit inconsistencies as well.

Also I found a Shin Megami Tensei character that's a spirit so that whole "franchises that have never been referenced in Smash" theory is now thrown in the trash alongside every other fan rule.

It just keeps looking more and more like the team deciding the spirits doesn't care about everything matching.

So, when you unlock at least one music track from all franchises in Smash and then go to the music menu, there are 3 empty slots. If this theory is legit, then 3 of the DLC characters will be representing new franchises, and the other 2 DLC characters will be from franchises already in Smash. Since Joker is a character, that leaves 2 of the DLC characters to represent new franchises, and 2 DLC characters from franchises already in Smash

Yeah all these fan rules are so ****ing stupid and are just pitiful.

Another character who uses his/her smash render as a fighter spirit.
It just keeps looking more and more like the team deciding the spirits doesn't care about everything matching.
Maybe the Claus spirit placement could be to avoid spoilers? Otherwise, that is weird.

She's a page on the SMT Wiki and the Reddit seems to consider her a character from there so *shrug.* She ain't Nintendo owned though that's for sure. Either way though music icon theory is most likely legit. I don't feel like going full NinTED Talk™ on every reason why I think that tonight but there is something everyone should keep in mind. Sakurai did mention in an interview that it can take over a year to obtain the rights to third party characters, this means the characters had to be chosen at latest November 2017. It's most likely earlier, so I'm being a bit generous here. Just something to chew on.

The whole "Cloud was last so that's the only reason why his Fighter spirit is his render" theory is now completely dead in the water at this point.


Oh **** I forgot about another weird thing involving spirits. This one actually kinda bugs me. Magearna is the last real Pokemon spirit listed unless you count Detective Pikachu. I've seen all the Alolan Pokemon spirits in game with the exception of two, and with the exception of the Fighter spirits, all Pokemon are listed not just by gen, but numerically through the order shown in the Pokedex. So I believe the logical conclusion there would be that the spirits are Solgaleo and Lunala. But... Marshadow doesn't have one...

I think it's funny how people take the guy that said "my body is ready" on the E3 stage 100% seriously on everything he says. Or in this case, take what he said out of context.

Yeah, getting the rights to a character takes a while. Say, we know that for 3rd party characters, getting the rights to them take about a year. What about characters like FE, Pokemon, and Mother characters? Do they take about as long since their rights are shared with Nintendo and Intelligent Systems, The Pokemon Company, and Shigesato Itoi respectively? Or do they take less time since Nintendo shares the rights to them?

What about characters like FE, Pokemon, and Mother characters? I would say no simply because of all the content already present in the game shows what the other rights holders okayed for Smash. So I'd say no on them taking just as long. Though a character being a fighter I'd bet needs extra permission, though for Mother characters it's pretty much just Itoi, and APE for Mother 1 and 2. And again there's a ****load of Mother content in the game so I wouldn't worry too much about it in those franchise's cases.

This is why I doubt characters like Porky and Sylux though.
