I know he only took about a week to make or something. My complaint was because Sakurai originally wanted him as an alt with character promotion being very late in development, Dark Pit was made into a clone despite there being so much Uprising could work with
Dark Pit is supposed to be Pit's negative side but enhanced, he's not cheery, his jokes are moreso insulting snarks, etc. Hell, the only reason they team up is because Dark Pit will die if Pit dies
Uprising has so many weapons that I'm surprised that Pit's customs don't involve the other weapon classes. I REALLY want Claws.
Like I said, anything Dark Pit can do, Pit could do as well. His only signature weapons are the Silver Bow and the Dark Pit Staff, which makes his current Smash depiction very in-character.
You're just saying that you want Dark Pit to use claws because you want claws. I don't think I want to be arguing with someone as biased as you're being.
I didn't outright say it was a reference to Wario Land, I asked because I was uncertain.
I gave an explanation on what I think it's a misconception regarding a certain costume he has in Brawl. Nothing more.
TLDR: Dark Pit should be given a different moveset next time, preferably with Claws. We don't need another Ganondorf situation
You do realize Sakurai has a policy of keeping veterans mostly the same throughout the series, don't you? If Dark Pit returns, expect him not to be too different from now. I could see him having a new special move, but I still think he's going to be a full clone.
It makes more sense for Dark Pit to be a clone of Pit than Ganondorf being a Falcon clone, anyway, but even so there's a perfectly legitimate reason why Ganondorf ended up being the way he is in Smash.
Pit and Dark Pit fight exactly the same in KIU. The gameplay is solely determined by the weapons in use.
Speaking of Ganondorf, I am actually doing research on him and doing an article for SG. Without going in detail, there's a lot more thought put into him than people give credit due to his semi-clone status.
He's missing: white buttons (overalls), yellow brim (hat), black shoes.
In the Brawl version: red lines are added to the gloves (instead of black), and the black overalls was changed to blue.
You might be right, it might not be a reference to Wario Land 3. That's a lot to mess up for Sakurai.
There are some details that do not quite match with the sprite.
Sakurai pays a lot of attention to details, something I do as well, so I don't think that costume was meant to be a Wario Land 3 reference.
