Yeah it's real, the Super Famicom Satellaview had some really unique games that most people have never heard of.

I get it, and I agree that there's a little too much Mario in Nintendo. I'd actually like more Nintendo cross overs in sports games rather then straight Mario, to be honest.

By the way, have you ever seen the interface for BS-X Satellaview? I always liked how much it evokes Mother, lol.

I would imagine that if they went with a feminized version of Link it would be localized as Linka, as that's an actual name and all.

No reason to just not go with 'Link' if it's a standard and customizable avatar, in my opinion.

That reminds me, there's been an interview asking why Link can't be female, can't remember the details but it was summed up as 'My female employees are okay with so you should be too'. A female Link isn't necessary, but I'd love to see it happen

This is BS The Legend of Zelda. It was only playable through the BS-X broadcasting system on the SNES.
It's not a 1-1 remake, but it's as close as I could see Nintendo making (a straight remake of the original Zelda would be pretty boring for today's standards, imo)

Would agree but based on the lore, it's somewhat unlikely to have Zelda be the hero of the story. Link is destined to be the hero (holder of the Triforce of Courage). She had huge supporting role in Spirit Tracks, but still not the primary protagonist.

We could have something crazy like the first hero to have two triforces! Inheritance of both families! THE POWAH!

I just think it's dumb to genderswap a precedented male character. I mean, I could say "what difference does it make to have Link be female instead of male?" as well. So far it's merely for an aesthetic and it doesn't change how the gameplay occurs.

Link is a precedented character, he always remains of a general same appearance. Unlike Pokemon games where each trainer is different. Also, those characters exist in a world in which where there can be multiple heroes, not just one who is Link. It would be like altering Mario into a female character for one game (ignoring the name Mario for a second).

I usually am one that loves to promote women in gaming, but not every game needs to be inclusive to every gender for the sake of that. We shouldn't alter an already made character for mere gender aesthetics. Since Link is designed as male, he should always remain male.

Link's gender is completely irrelevant to the main story of the games. Only thing it's useful for is cutscenes, which are easily changeable. So no, not really. It's never been relevant at all. A gender option for Link is the only one that wouldn't completely destroy the whole story. Zelda should never ever play like Link. She's a spellcaster and has far different abilities. Link would barely looks different as female as well(Linkle for that matter didn't look all that different.). Besides a slight difference in chest size and slightly different face, she'd be exactly the same. They can easily use the same voice actors for the game anyway. The effort needed is a lot less than people think, and it fixes the main issue with female representation in the Zelda series. Link's entirely damn purpose is to represent the player. And "he" fails to do so when the female option isn't present. People are not inherently male. It's just as stupid as the forced right-handedness of the two Zelda Wii games. Link was always left-handed. But now suddenly must be right-handed because for some odd reason nobody can play using the Wii remote in their left hand? But even then, that oulright killed the "set precedent" of Link's features. It's clearly not important enough to surpass everything. His gender was never important regardless(it didn't even play a remote role in any game either. If Zelda kissed Link as a girl in Spirit Tracks, she'd still blush(or an equivalent of it. If the end of TP had a female Link, she'd still be taken back by Twilight Midna's beauty). That's why we even have a good remake of Zelda 1 that fixes the main issue, which is giving the player a proper gender option.

This what gets me the most.

Outside of spinoffs and the garbage CD-I games, Zelda has never been playable in a mainline game or has a game of her own.

For God sakes, she's the titular character and has never been playable at once. Do I want her to play like Link, no. But I want a game staring her because she can introduce a new playstyle or genre to the series with her magical ability and using her 'wisdom' to handle puzzles.

FemLink shouldn't ever be a thought IMO until Zelda gets her time to shine and I'm damn well behind it
