To be fair, Link has a Mii Costume as well. So this does not outright disconfirm K Rool for good, but things are still looking grim for him.

It's still very likely they made that costume due to fan demanding him. They probably don't want to or can't develop him and went for the costumes. Who knows though?

K. Rool hasn't been a character in a game in a while and he's being revealed alongside Chrom. It's pretty damning.

I also think this totally shoots down Isaac and gives credit to older characters not being considered. Full votes pitched in towards Paper Mario and Dixie Kong being in at this point.
