Hopefully Mortal Kombat 11 finally gets revealed there. The wait had been long enough. So, the Game Awards are coming up soon. You guys got stuff to look forward to? I don't think Smash stuff will actually happen, but they did say they have more reveals this year than any show previously.
I don't care for the awards themselves too much, as I'd rather play what I know I like. But maybe we'll get some Metroid Prime 4 stuff, or Bayonetta 3. For DLC, we could see another Tekken character or Spider-Man's 3rd DLC trailer. I think Mega Man 11's supposed to have DLC, but it wasn't outright confirmed. If they did, a playable Protoman and Bass would be nice, but really, extra stages would be even more hype. Or a Season 2 announcement for Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Basically, there's some stuff I'm hoping/looking forward too outside of Smash.
The meme/highlight reels people make are also great.
BRO I FORGOT ABOUT MK11! Yeah that'd also be sick.Hopefully Mortal Kombat 11 finally gets revealed there. The wait had been long enough.
And maybe some other cool reveals as well. TBH this is going to be my first time watching TGA since back when Spike was producing it. I.e. The dark days lol.
Well outside of that, there's no other announcements for me short of wishful thinking announcements like a new Advance Wars or Megaman Legends 3 lol.Young Justice is coming out January 4th. It'll be cool to see more of the boy Blue Beetle.
BRO I FORGOT ABOUT MK11! Yeah that'd also be sick.
That said, we'll probably only get one thing we're looking forward to though. Knowing my luck at least.
I only want to watch for the announcements TBH lol. Everything else bores me to tears.I don't even know if I'm watching TGA this year.
I'm not, it's at 2:30AM for me. On Smash Launch Day when I have a digital copy. So I'm busy trying to unlock everyone "GWEN THEY CONFIRMED LITERALLY ANYTHING YOU WANT" SHUDDUP I'M BUSYI don't even know if I'm watching TGA this year.
I’ve never watched it any year so I imagine that won’t change this year. lolI don't even know if I'm watching TGA this year.
Yeah that's how I felt last couple of years.I only want to watch for the announcements TBH lol. Everything else bores me to tears.

Friend with a modified Switch got the game early, so I "invited" myself to play the game.Wait? How are you manage to play it? Like via mod or demos?
I don’t mind the giant post, honestly it just makes me more excited for the game! Also I’m glad what I heard turned out to work! All right, I’m finally back after playing more than 5 hours of Smash Ultimate. So, I’m bringing you guys my first impression of the game. I’m only going to talk about gameplay since we only played versus matches and arcade. Don’t know how big this is going to end, because oh boy do I have lots of stuff to talk about.
First I asked the friend a weird request… I wanted to go hear the voice of a certain assist trophy. Yeah, Lyn isn’t playable, but I was hoping they’d do her justice and at least give her the voice from Wendee Lee. I was disappointed that her voice was still the same recycled clips from Brawl… Why? How much time did it take to take some files from FE Heroes and give her those clips instead of reusing the same voice from Brawl? Black Knight’s voice clips are taken directly from Heroes, I really was disappointed… Guess Lyn joins Lucina in the club of characters without her new voice actresses, but at least Alexis Tipton does sound like Laura Bailey, unlike Wendee Lee and Lani Minella…
That thing aside, we jumped straight to have some matches. Before entering on character specifics, I must say that while acting out of run is super fun and allows lots of things, I really think that the Right Stick should be assigned to tilts. Doing running u-tilt almost always ended up in up-smash, same for f-tilt, so I think using the right stick should make things easier.
We played with stocks and with items the first matches, and I have to say that the assists in this game are crazy. Like seriously, some of them have such a level of detail that makes me wonder if they were considered fighters before being downgraded to assists. Zero for example has so many moves, it’s crazy (Hadangeki, Ryuenji, the jumping wheel attack, melee combos, air dashes…). That can be said for others like Shovel Knight, Alucard, Black Knight… Special mention to the Rathalos because is by far the most broken assist. Step aside Ridley, THIS DUDE IS TOO BIG. Did I say already how much I love that the Rathalos is here right?
Onto the matches. Sadly he didn’t have many characters unlocked, I think he had 13 or so. From the beginning roster, the only pick I really wanted to try was Yoshi. Sadly, he doesn’t seem very good, at least as a first impression. I enjoyed Yoshi in 4, had pretty good aerials and air mobility. And while yes, he still has that insane air speed, his aerials feel so weird. Nair and Bair are rather fine, nair is like 4 which is great, and the bair feels faster. However the rest felt much worse, uair doesn’t juggle as effectively (has a weird new animation that rises up, allowing to hit characters in front rather than up), fair seemed slower than 4, and dair just didn’t work half of the time. F-tilt and U-tilt have both the same utility as both just put the foe above his head for air juggles, but due to the new uair, this wasn’t really working. And what was initially a cool buff (the bouncing eggs), was rather useless, as it only worked for uncharged eggs and for a pitiful 4%... Really sad about this, was hoping he would be better, but it doesn’t seem like that.
After that first match we unlocked I think it was Marth. We decided to go try arcade mode. Since I was picking, I chose Yoshi again because I got a feeling that his boss fight was going to be the Rathalos. We played on the hardest difficulty possible, and even on later rounds we didn’t have much trouble, they might have made the game CPU easier. I was on the money and Rathalos was the final boss, and I noticed something I didn’t before, he does actually poison your character when hit by his claws... The amount of detail was just astounding. Lucario was unlocked after that.
We went back to playing matches, but I remembered something praline said on the thread, that apparently you can quit the game and re-enter it, and the first match that you do will unlock a new character. We decided it was worth a shot, and spoiler alert, it does work indeed, so we did that to unlock as many characters as possible during the afternoon.
I wanted to try squad strike and this PM all-star mode, and it’s just as it sounds. You can choose the characters and then put them in the order you want without your opponent knowing, meaning even though you know your opponent’s characters, you don’t know who goes first. Was a pretty neat detail in my opinion. But no character was unlocked, so we went to regular matches right again.
Now, opinion on all the characters I played (I actually noted every character I played lol). First, Marth/Lucina felt extremely good, good spacing tools, up-tilt is really oppressive with the new air changes, and just dashing through the stage felt really good. Jab was nerfed since it doesn’t lead to anything, but overall I liked them, got really good edgeguards with that disjointed blade.
Fox was… Not great. I kinda like the new voice clips (they changed his down taunt to “come at me” instead of “come on”), but everything else was better in 4. Side b is slooooooooow as hell, and his moves doesn’t seem to combo as well as they did before. Sad, I love playing Fox in 4.
Link was extremely fun. That bomb just changes everything, I just theorycrafted things on the go and they actually worked. For example, back throw into the planted bomb and after detonating it going for a fair, and it works! I don’t really enjoy playing Link in other entries, but now that he has a normal grab and how stupid fun the bomb is, I might go and give him a shot!
Pika was just plain broken, it’s not even funny. He makes strings and combos for days, he’s so fast, that dair is disgusting for edgeguarding, thunder does wonders… He seems really really strong.
After that, we finally unlocked a newcomer, in the form of the Inklings. Though I already played her on July, I wanted to play more, and she is still fun as heck. I have issues with her nair and the neutral b, I don’t see much use out of them. Otherwise, she’s fast and really strong, I loved her.
I already played Ike on July too, but he was so fun… And he still is. He feels much faster in the air while keeping insane strength, he killed so easily. However I now see his recovery is a bit exploitable, I did some aethers to get onto stage and what I felt was an easy ledge grab in 4 ended up in Ike dying. Still, he’s hype.
Then we get to Falcon… I don’t know, I played him twice but I didn’t get the feeling for him. Guess I was too used to Smash 4 Falcon, but his Falcon Punch has even less range than before, and while the knee seems faster, his up-air feels weird. I dunno, I need to give him more time to make final conclusions.
We got to another newcomer, King K. Rool. While personally not a fan of the character, and not liking heavy weights most of the time, I wanted to try it out… And BOY THAT BAIR IS SO COOL. He didn’t feel heavy at all, he could go off-stage easily with his great recovery, and dunking people with the bair was SO SATISFYING. I didn’t get how to use the cannon-ball nor the crown, but his normal were pretty interesting, might try him seriously when I finally get my hands on a game of my own.
ZSS felt worse. I really don’t know what it was, but I didn’t feel right. Her side b tether didn’t grab the ledge even when she was rather close in my opinion, d-smash is weak as hell, and I swear down b has a range nerf of some sorts, because that wasn’t very good. Will give her more time when game comes out, because I want her to be good.
Then we got to Simon. He felt so broken. Like seriously, thousands of walling tools, projectiles, attacks that outrange everything… What’s up with a d-tilt that cover’s half of final destination in less than a second??? Recovery was his only weakness, but even then he can grab the ledge by doing a fair/bair, so it isn’t that bad. I want to give him more time (Probably more to Richter since I prefer his design).
Sonic seems pretty good, though his u-air is definitely nerfed. I hit people at 120% almost on the top blast zone (after using a grounded spring and double jumping), and they still survived. Still, crazy fast, and fair strings are definitely a thing, had fun with those.
Young Link was pretty good. Arrows are crazy fast, and he seems like that too. I really liked how little landing lag he had, did some landing bairs (only first hit) and they seemed to connect with everything after that, might be worth looking into.
Little Mac is just scary. I didn’t play him, but the other person did and I’m scared. The side-b being usable off stage is such a huge deal, he got out of many edgeguards that would have been guaranteed in 4. Crazy crazy strong…
This time I got to use Ryu properly, and I didn’t realize how big of a deal the “always looking at your opponent thing” was until I used it myself. It gives Ryu something that no other character (apart from Ken I guess) has, a back dash. Now that everything can be done after a run, making space with the back dash while still facing the opponent made it really easy to punish with stuff like strong d-tilt into hadoken. I want to give more time to Ryu because he definitely has potential.
Another newcomer, Isabelle. Wasn’t too excited for her because I wasn’t a Villager guy (Even though he was unlocked I didn’t play him), but I wanted to try all newcomers. But as expected, didn’t really enjoy much. The fishing rod is pretty cool though, I can see it being a crazy good option when edgeguarding.
And when I thought I would go without unlocking my boy Shulk… He finally appeared! However I had to beat him with Isabelle, and I wasn’t confident at all. Thankfully he had a vision of my beating the **** out of him, so he decided to airslash in the middle of Gaur Plains… And he sd'd without me doing anything lol.
Now, how to describe my first experience with Shulk (tagging @Shishœ because Shulk hype)… Well, this sums it up:
View attachment 180300
Yeah, I was too used to 4, and I couldn’t get used to the wheel in the couple of matches I played. I always ended up activating the arts wrong with it, so that’s why I did it by mashing b. Even though the mashing is still way faster than 4, I need to learn how to use the wheel, because it seems way more useful. It can be used during combos, and even while comboed which is crazy to me. Jump and Speed need to be relearnt, he jumps so damn high and goes so damn fast! MALLC is also definitely in the game, I tried it with bair which still has a ton of landing lag, at it definitely worked. Onto more specific stuff, u-throw to u-tilt feels like a true combo on low percents, I got it consistently, and allowed for juggle situations. And with jump active, strings of nair-fair-fair are definitely possible, might not be true but you definitely have room to follow the foe due to the insane air speed. U-air has no landing lag, was using it on someone above, they airdodged, and I had time to land and do a smash to punish. Bair is way worse now, feels even slower and it’s hitbox is much worse. Other than all that, Shulk just feels so much better now, so many quality of life changes, I enjoyed him so much, can’t wait to spend time on him by myself.
And with that my Ultimate experience. I didn’t get to try Incineroar and Ken sadly, but hey, we got to 40 characters unlocked in just an afternoon, that ain’t half bad. Sorry for the hella big post, but I was really excited to play this and wanted to bring as much info as I could myself. The game is real good, can’t wait for the 7th to come already!

Get out!
Cause it amuses me.You've been using that gif a lot lately
Didn't you have like, two different profile pics earlier today?Cause it amuses me.
Is there something wrong with that?Didn't you have like, two different profile pics earlier today?
Nope. I'm always up for nice fan art.Is there something wrong with that?
Yeah that was just an outright incredible scene. There aren't many scenes like that which can match that qualitySo hey, anyone here finished Castlevania Season 2? Because I want to talk about THAT scene
"My boy... I'm killing my boy..."
**** me man, that was the most emotional I've gotten because of a cartoon in a while.

Don't you ****ing dare call the best character in that show that, her name is Sypha and you will ****ing remember itthe other mage girl
Honestly I liked that anime. Doesn't hurt that it's seemingly canon as it's the only explanation given to how Trish and Lady know each otherThe old DMC anime was only ok. What I liked is that it showed Dante's day to day life, but more importantly, it showed how empty he can be when he's not fighting demons in stylish fashion. Like, he isn't emo, but he doesn't have much going on outside of work.
Which makes sense, because if you think about it, his life kind of sucks, losing nearly everyone close to him. I wonder how the new show will handle Dante. Because he NEEDS to be handled in a way similar to Kamiya's or Istuno's Dante. He can't be emo 100% of the time and definitely not like Don'te.
If dies trying to save Nero in DMCV it'll be Mufasa times 10 for me.
Weirdly, Morrison's now black. But the game's lore overtakes everything else so no complaints.Honestly I liked that anime. Doesn't hurt that it's seemingly canon as it's the only explanation given to how Trish and Lady know each other
Yeah that dude does NOT do action stuff well at all, his track record is almost exclusively cutesy bubbly animeWeirdly, Morrison's now black. But the game's lore overtakes everything else so no complaints.
I think the action of the show could have been done better. It relies too much on close-ups to mask that they didn't have a huge budget, even for Madhouse. But it WAS directed by the dude who does the new Berserk anime so that might be why.
Yeah that was just an outright incredible scene. There aren't many scenes like that which can match that quality
Yeah that scene was very well done.
TBH, I ended up feeling sorry for Dracula given how flipping stupid and vile the humans were. Was happy to see them get royally screwed over.
The entire fight scene with Trevor, the other mage girl, and Alucard against Dracula was epic in itself. Dracula almost letting Alucard kill him makes me think how much more it would take to kill him.
Ah well. If only they had "HYDRO STORM!!!" with them it'd be a lot easier. Too bad it's still hundreds of years earlier for that lol.
