Clearly this means they transitioned the assets to Smash

There is probably going to be a dedicated Pokemon direct.

I did want to see the Blastoise trailer though

Ike gets cut too, Chrom is gonna replace him.

Considering Smash for Switch doesn't have the same issues, they could return him, though it's hard to say if they'd revamp his Pokemon selection or not.

I hate the switching characters and moveset mechanic. Keeping ZSS/Charizard/Shiek Seperate is the best way to go.

I think it'll be a new game but Sakurai is going to use a lot of the back work from Wii U to make this happen. Granted it's been 4 years so maybe he started from scratch again, but even he talked about how the sheer size of the roster is getting harder and harder to remake each game.

This will be the final push of the 3DS's life span, I'm almost confident of that. It's smart of them to keep supporting it, but it'll only get them so far in the years to come. But hey, more Nintendo is more Nintendo.

I would say that he took some time to take a "breather" post DLC.

I mean Bandai was most likely working on porting Smash on the Switch for the first half of 2016 so I would think that he had like 3-4 months to take a breather.

And that's even if Sakurai is even behind this new game.
