From what I remember, translating Mother 3 was a pain due to all kinds of in-game references that require licensing, same with music. So it's more of a case of "taking a while" and that the creator is against any censorship changes whatsoever. Or changes, period(bar basic translations).
That's a pain to deal with, so it's no surprise it's taking a while, really. They can't really use a fan translation either, so yeah.
They definitely should releasing more games with a VC service. Some will require licensing, though, but a lot don't. And it doesn't mean they can get the licensing either. The IP holder still has to say yes to begin with. Reality is, not all will. Seems silly they won't, since the Switch is an extremely well-selling system, but everybody's different.
