Average person: "I thought there weren't supposed to be non-video game characters. Why else is Barbarossa in Smash?!!!"
I meant in Soul Calibur 6, you doof lol

Speaking of fighters, you guys remember M.U.G.E.N.?
I wonder if it's still popular. I know there are streaming services that hold betting servers for MUGEN tournaments 24/7.
Who needs mugen when, with like 3-4 more third party characters that’ll basically be Smash.

SaltyBet has kept it relevant.
Yup.

I've lost all my fake internet money by betting it all on small anime girls nuke each other and crash the stream.
It's a fun time if you've got some other people with you.

My rule is to always bet on DBZ.

I think Hyper DBZ brought it back into the limelight for a while, then DBFZ was annouced, though Hyper DBZ is still updating. Tien and Goku Black are being made I think. Also there's a Z2 Teen Gohan that uses the Extreme Butoden Sprites.

Other than that, the only "major" Mugen thing that was made was Mega Man: Robot Master Mayhem.

I had M.U.G.E.N for a bit, mine had 30 something characters. But for some reason, every time I tried to add MVC2 Jill, that **** refused to work, but all my other characters could.

Nah man. Always bet on MSPaint.
MS Paint SSGSS4 Broly. He'll always win.

Both options don't seem that bad though, they have the same context behind them. The latter one sounds creepy but at least it's candid.

I finally got up to and beat Mega Man X5, I can see why it was meant to be the intended ending of the subseries. It continues off of X4 which left a lot of things hanging, they finally got more into Zero's past and abilities, and they wrap up a number of the major plot threads. If you ended it here I wouldn't say it'd be unsatisfying as a conclusion.

I personally have a lot to say about X5 and the other four games I've played, but I want to see my time with the X series to its end before I give my complete thoughts. All I can say right now is that I'm really enjoying them and I'm glad that I finally have a chance to explore this subseries since for the most part it's been out of my reach otherwise. Next up is X6, lets see how that one holds up.

Well nothing really happened at least.

She teases you that "something special" could have happened if you made certain choices, and tries to belittle you a bit. Also says that "well none of this is real anyway, you know as well as I do this is just a mod".

Regardless, I think I got the good ending since it ended on a happy note (said I started the relationship because I loved her, seems like the right choice), and the originally blank title screen now has Sayori on it.

Gonna go to bed now. I'll do Natsuki's route tomorrow.

Maybe I'll do a proper write up of Sayroi's route tomorrow.

I actually quite like X5, maybe even more than X4 tbh.

Though it does stumble on some parts, the idea of multiple armors for X is a cool idea but the execution is wonky (on top of one of the armors being way too situational, while the other is just all around great.) They wouldn't get that idea mostly right until X8 either.

The endgame is also some ****, I have no idea why they thought it'd be a good idea to leave the ending up to RNG. But at least, story wise, it could definitely be a lot worse. Like you said, it wouldn't be an completely unsatisfying conclusion if things had ended here.

If you're playing on the Legacy Collection, play X6 in Rookie Hunter Mode.

No one will look down on you for it.

Mega Man X5 was pretty meh for me, not terrible, far from great. Glad the series went on afterwards, even if two of those titles were pretty rough.

Mega Man X6 is my guilty pleasure game though. The Armors and Weapons are fun. And the Music is great, some of the best in the series, everything else is why I can only call it a "Guilty Pleasure".

MMX1 - MMX4 are still the GOAT of GOATs though.

It's funny really, I remember a lot of people saying it was mediocre or worse so I was expecting it to not be that good, but X5 ended up being the biggest pleasant surprise of the bunch. Some of the ideas it has do fall short, the armors for instance is a good example of that as I barely used the Gaea Armor outside of getting the Heart Containers, but the ideas that do work tend to work rather well and I ended up having a lot of fun playing through it. It's definitely my second or third favorite X game out of the ones I've played so far.

And I agree about the ending being tied to RNG, it was particularly a problem for me since I essentially went in blind so I didn't realize I got the bad ending out of bad luck until it was too late. Thankfully I enjoyed it enough that that I didn't mind doing essentially a second playthrough, but I really have to wonder why Capcom felt it was a good idea to do that.

If you're playing on the Legacy Collection, play X6 in Rookie Hunter Mode.

No one will look down on you for it.
...That bad huh?

Someone here mentioned M.U.G.E.N. I'd like to point out that I play M.U.G.E.N. too, but not as a fighting game. I'm a degenerate, I know...

I'd like to get back in to M.U.G.EN. Haven't used it since 2012/2013-ish. I was watching some old Mugen videos a few months ago and found an old comment of mine from 10 years ago. Didn't even remember leaving that.

I beat Super Casltevania IV. It was my first Casltevania game.

Needless to say, I loved it and now I'm a big fan.

My favorite tracks from CV IV(that aren't series staples) are 3-3 and 4-1.
