I recently ran into a video that talks about something very troubling with the Nintendo Switch system.

https://youtu.be/R5sk9MNb2ss

After seeing that very video, I'm starting to think twice about buying a Nintendo Switch any time soon.

Edit: Video is replaced with a direct link.
Oh hey, the thumbnail does look like the crack in mine. Near-precise match.

Welp. That's neat to know.

Good news for you then. Doesn't break ****, mine still works fine. Can't call it fully cosmetic since it's still a back cover support screw, but the back cover doesn't even seem to be affected unless you go in there with a prying tool and try to exacerbate the point of failure.

Bit ****ty Ninty won't cover it, but whatever. I got tri-wings, I'll go pick up a case kit and fix it myself.

I've heard about the cracking problem but FWIW I haven't experienced it. I don't play my Switch that regularly and don't usually play outside of my apartment, so maybe my experience would be different from yours. From what I've seen it looks like it's just be aesthetic damage so not that big of a deal.

TBH I think some people are blowing this out of proportion. Same think happened when the switch first came out and people started trumpeting every defective Switch or other issue as proof that the system sucked/was going to flop/etc. Come to think of it, I think this guy might have been one of the ones doing that at the time...but I might be misremembering, who knows.
Whatever the reason, it sounds like the cracking Switch systems may be one of the reasons for Nintendo's stock decline dilemma. With this information being present, people will probably think twice about buying a Nintendo Switch system, and that could end up hurting Nintendo big time if it turns into a worldwide problem.

Just because it isn't being utilized often doesn't mean it's useless...
Some do find some use, but again, there are things like an upward hat throw that have literally no use.

Which is again, nothing wrong, imagine that you face with some hard stuff mid-game can be frustrating at time, I don't really want a 3D Mario game to be another Dark Souls lol.
I am so tired of people calling anything with a shred of difficulty a "Dark Souls"

Not to mention this is in no way a reply to my "put hard stuff in the post-game" point. If anything, it supports it!

Also the fact you complain when experiment an option in a platformer will get you punished was also mid boggling... the only punish you get is just losing some coins. What I think is a punish is that you will lose tons of progress if you failed, in Odyssey you don't lose a lot besides of just doing it all over again.
In all fairness, Odyssey is so damn forgiving in everything that losing some coins is the closest thing to death we have.

It's hard to judge what is punishing in a game where death has no meaning, no impact other than a 2-second cutscene and a minimal loss of only 10 coins.

But imagine trying to experiment with things in the racing minigames. One **** up and you gotta start it all over again. Now granted, it's also pretty nitpicky, but it's still a bigger punish than 10 coins because you lost more than just a handful of seconds here. (then again, you can always just train outside of the minigame itself, so whatever, I'm an idiot again)

So... you complained you can only use the mighty T-Rex in a limited area?

I can take certain nitpick but this is the nitpick where I found it pretty ridiculous, with a capture ability being that powerful it is unfortunate but also understandable that you can only use it in a limited time and area.
I'm not complaining about the timer, especially since they found a way to blend it into the "story" by saying Cappy can't take over something that big for a while. I thought it was a nice touch.

But if you want me to be a goddamn T-Rex, let me run over a huge landscape, dammit!

Again, pretty nitpicky, but imagine going through some vast plains as a T-Rex. Even if only for 30 seconds, it'd be awesome!

So yeah... while some of your nitpicks makes sense, but they are not where near to be considered as a flaw. Super Mario Odyssey is a very good 3D Sandbox Mario game, while it's replay value can be questioned by some, I still think the game is worth any platform gaming fans to pick up.
I do too, and honestly, I'm one who believes there's lot of reply value in there. I mean, the post-game content is just ****ing bonkers.

I just think there's many missed opportunities in terms of the mechanics and that we should get more worlds like Sand Kingdom or New Donk City.

Well, tri-point if we're being fair.

A tri-point or Y-type screwdriver is used to remove a certain kind of screw head typically found in consumer electronics and particularly beloved by Nintendo. You'll find those little weirdos in your Switch and joy-con casings (the inside has regular Phillips screws) amongst other things. Enough people confuse them for tri-wing screws (myself included) that they're usually called that instead, and the screwdriver similarly.

I've got a driver kit, so my "tri-wings" are a series of Y-type bits (Y000, Y00, Y0, and Y1). I use the quotes simply because I seem to lack actual tri-wing drivers, though that hasn't been an issue for my kit thus far.

I never play my Switch docked.

Not because of my TV or of framerate issues, it's just I either have to plug in the TV or my A/C in the one remaining socket. I'll take my A/C in July.

Voiding warranties is something of a hobby of mine.

But otherwise sure. They're not terribly expensive, either as full drivers or bits, so if you've got any Ninty products lying around - Wii, Wii U, Switch, or any of their handhelds - they're just good to keep on hand.

[EDIT]: Well, okay, a lot of the handhelds run normal Phillips head screws now.

But they're still prevalent enough to be worth having a few kinds of Y-type drivers around if you plan on cracking something Nintendo-branded open.

Yeah sure, unfinished and unstable emulators that only run on high tech computers that requires god knows how much RAM to keep the game running, not to mention having to get the ROM data from a gamecard is all a super easy process compared to, like, pressing a button on a gaming console.
All for some better graphics which are certainly worth it.
RAM doesn't make much difference for emulators, the CPU is the main thing. You only need a CPU as powerful as the Wii U's which is not that expensive. I hear plenty of people playing CEMU on less than 8GB RAM (which is very standard). Most gaming related things don't need more than 8GB, and even for higher end stuff, 16GB is the upper limit of how much RAM is actually ever useful in gaming.

CEMU is also actually quite stable, it's well past it's 1.0 release which is when it's considered stable. And it's progressing rapidly still.

Also, you don't have to dump ROM (or ISO, since it's the Wii U version of BotW that's emulated) data (even that is easy though), there is an app that allows you to download content directly from the eShop which you can use if you have decent internet.

I guess I should have recruited her sooner.
I recruited her last. By this point my lead (H'aanit) is lv 24 so the rest of my team is able to take out the enemies really easily. Plus Ophelia ends up levelling really quickly.

IDK I guess either starting with her or saving her for last is best? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She’s my 6th maybe it’s also who my team is that makes her harder to level? I dunno...

I don't feel like you can't recruit any characters "late" in Octopath if you're still in Ch1, the new character will easily gain kevels from the overleveled enemies and the rest of the team can just carry them for the boss fight.

Also, does anyone already have or have planned any subclasses? I'm trying to see what would be good for my Therion/Cyrus/Olberic/Primrose team. I like Apothecary for Prim since it would allow her to do some stuff when no buffs are needed(mainly poison, ailment heal and the revive) but I'm lost on the others.

All I’ve considered is cleric for Primrose so I can have 2 healers if need be.

My team is Primrose/Alfyn/Olberic/Cyrus

The reason why it comes off as trolling (and I'm still not 100% sold on it not being) is that you went above and beyond in mocking each individual design, mocking the region, and just generally being in awful taste about the way you went about it. It's kind of hard to think you're arguing in good faith reading "oh look at how much this thing sucks :((((((((((."

Which is why I always say presentation, presentation, presentation. Most of a bad argument is how badly a person puts it. Granted gen wars are a bottle of nitroglycerin in general.

And in this case your opinion is wrong regardless. :troll:
sorry for responding so late! I got tired and lazy for 12 hours :'^)

That makes sense though!!! I didn't realize that when I type like how I text it can come of as a troll, but it does make sense!

Those designs genuinely did really go over my head though, but now that I'm thinking about it, part of the reason may be because I wasn't formally introduced to those UBs as I never got USUM, and the other UBs usually had context for them, like how Pheromosa resembles Lusamine, Xurkitree Guzma, and Nihilego Lillie, that made those UBs more interesting.

Red did bring up a good point though with how they're supposed to be alien, but I still find it a bit uncharacteristic and sloppy for them to draw bricks and call it an "Ultra Beast" LOL. Same with the purple mosquito. I know we already had Buzzwole, but he's at least more than just a mosquito, the color scheme he has is really interesting as it blends together the black, red, and white, and he also had four legs instead of a huge stinger; just gives him a little spice. The purple mosquito is just a purple mosquito with a huge stinger and larger wings, which is why I don't really see the buzz (LOL) behind it, but do with Buzzwole.

Even Zeraora, I hadn't seen it much, only tossed around, so that's why it resembled a monkey to me, since I had never looked at it closely. Even now though I think it looks a little similar to an electric Infernape.

I'll quit typing like how I text and actually provide substance for my opinions, I just thought to throw it out and I didn't think anyone would really care, you know? But now that I know it makes me look like a dork. . . .:joyful:

if you don't have the wolf girl in your party

you're wrong :troll:

If I ever get the game, I'd plan on soloing it with her, she's the only character I'd need. I LOVE hunters/beast tamers

So far my Team is Primrose/Scholar, Tressa/Thief, Olberic/Apothecary, and Haa'nit/Cleric. I know I have two of the same path actions, but I really like Olberic as a character and Haan'it has a really fun and useful ability with capture.
Primrose Scholar is really good, she nukes everything.

whaaaaaat? wouldn't she just get overleveled and OP from hogging all the experience???

I'm considering giving the demo a second chance though, I tried it with her and it was just really dull, I think it might've just been her starting area though because the dialogue highkey was putting me to sleep :'^(

Are the other characters' hometowns any cooler than H'aanit's?

This game is about working with weaknesses of the enemies. If you solely use just Haanit you won’t be able to do sufficient damage ever.

Aww that sucks! :'^( From a first glance she's the only one that appealed to me.

Tressa is also my homegirl though. Doesn't the girl just wake up one day and decide she wants to go out? I relate to that

And the apothecary dude doesn't seem lame, either. I guess the fourth can be Primrose or Cyrus.

It's really weird though to see how like almost no one has the exact team, if I use this set up we'd only share two people :joyful:

Well H'aanit can actually compensate somewhat with her summons, she can capture beasts that cover weaknesses that your party doesn't. Though it wouldn't be a great idea to do this for every attack type at once.
