I can say with certainty that you are a bit obsessed with the Switch when, in the same sentence where you claim I can't do that, you proceed to literally give me a sales pitch for the thing.
I mean I already admit that anyway, all I'm saying is you can't be like last time using it as a argument on my opinion, and not just that, any term tagging was never a good way to start a discussion at all. So that's why I never call you or Flight a Wii U obsessed or anything.

It's never wrong to be obsessed or prefer with any console/platform in my opinion, but that doesn't mean I can give out my fair share of two cents though.

Like I said, it is okay to prefer Wii U than Switch, nevertheless my advice is that try to jump out gaming comfort circle from time to time. Maybe once Switch really starts to get more first party and single player games then you will change your preference.
To speak nothing of the rest of the post.

But I'm not getting into a debate over it.
I mean if you think my opinions have any false statements, I'm all welcome to take the counter points.

Rather calling it a debate, I think it's more of a discussion... this was never a debate since this isn't that we have to agreed with each other, and I already understand that those who only plays Nintendo games on Nintendo console, don't care about portability, and has other platforms to play other games on, will get bored with Nintendo Switch easily at this point. What you always never understand I guess, is that people around the world have different gaming preference, I know western gamers will prefer games with power console or platform and enjoy sweet smooth fps gameplay. As for gamers like me, a console that you can play anywhere and with decent performance like Nintendo Switch will always be my top favorite.

There are couple of things that can made me decide if I'll get a retail/AAA game digitally.
  • Small download size
  • A game that I want to have ready to play at any time (Splatoon 2, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Super Bomberman R, & Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
  • Costs less to get it digitally (Puyo Puyo Tetris & Mega Man Legacy Collection 1)
  • If there is any BS getting it physically (Bayonetta 1+2 & Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2)
Of course I'm still getting games physically. And I'll never get indie games physically.
Yeah, this is exactly the case lol.
Also add games that you couldn't get in your region... like many Japan only games.

Here are lists that I will get games physically:
  • Collectors edition available
  • Games with huge download size
  • Has additional stuff when getting physical (Not to be confused with collectors edition)
  • Costs less to get it physically, and more often then not that is the case because certain game stores has used Switch games with decent price

What?

Like, every time I talk about this subject, I literally make note of the other perspectives that exist, and clarify which one I fall under.

It's you that seems to always have to write essays and even sometimes backhanded remarks in response to someone who has an outlook different than yours.

Also I don't know where this "get out of your comfort zone" thing is coming from, even without considering the fact I have an extremely broad comfort zone (all four of my current Switch games are in completely different genres, to speak nothing of my much larger libraries on other systems). Sure, Switch has a lot of multiplayer games I'm not buying, but that's not even because I don't like their gameplay. I played the online demos for Splatoon 2, ARMS, and Mario Tennis Aces, and in terms of their core gameplay, I had fun. And that's fine with a free demo. But these games cost €60 each, so they need more than just fun mechanics for me to put down that kind of money. And they all have something holding them back for me, one of them being Nintendo's subpar online meaning that even if the mechanics are great, they will sometimes break because of the online.

Also, I don't think the Wii U is a better console than the Switch, I said the library of games and things that Nintendo were doing at the time of the Wii U were more exciting to me than what is happening with the Switch.

Trying to get an idea out further again, still struggling but I'm at least getting down an attempt here.
When I saw goop, I thought of Super Mario Sunshine.
Either way can I read your story when it is done? :p

I'd say it's more like the Crash Bandicoot bridge levels IRL, but if that was the case, half of the planks would be falling apart or made of ice.

Does anyone even know that Nier: Automata is from a fantasy series called Drakengard?
I know Nier Automata is a sequel of Nier, a spin-off game from Drakenguard, which its most recent game is out back in 2013.

Drakenguard is also called Dragoon Drag-on in Japan.
What?

Like, every time I talk about this subject, I literally make note of the other perspectives that exist, and clarify which one I fall under.
Starting your post of "what?" is odd, not sure if you are just confusing or just don't under where I am coming at.

Well, perhaps it's really just me, but I couldn't really see that. And I also mention that as well where there are certain number of people having those kinds of different perspectives and opinions.

Check my response to Flight and you will know (And you mention that you 100% agree, which is odd imo) You somewhat got it wrong if you actually think that advice was specifically for you, that's mostly for those like Flight who sticks with Nintendo games in general. I mean it's nice that you share your further gaming experience but no need to be compromising your opinion.

When it comes to Nintendo Online, again we don't know the full details yet when it comes to their online service, but I bet it will handhle the online multiplayer just fine. Then again you shouldn't expect that much when it's only 20 US$ a year. I have to bash Nintendo's when it comes to Cloud Save Data Backup being locked to the service. In my opinion the Cloud Backup should be available for free at least with some limits, such as limiting how many games you can back up per account.

It's you that seems to always have to write essays and even sometimes backhanded remarks in response to someone who has an outlook different than yours.
This is Smashboards, why is even making "essays" now an issue?

And yeah, because that's what discussion is, if I have my own two cents on your opinion, I will give out my thoughts.
Also, I don't think the Wii U is a better console than the Switch, I said the library of games and things that Nintendo were doing at the time of the Wii U were more exciting to me than what is happening with the Switch.
Now this is exactly where I disagree with you and Flight... only to some degree. I mean in that case you 100% agreed with Flight's opinion was a bit weird to some degree.

We can neglect Wii U's third party games because well... there weren't any...
Wii U had amazing games, mostly in 2014, never deny that, but the games' release date were overly wide spread. Thus having massive game droughts, and with those amazing games like MK8, Splatoon, Xenoblade, Hyrule Warriors etc are either getting a port or a sequel on Switch, and it wasn't just because of the "ports on Switch" makes it sell, Nintendo Switch is indeed a more engaging console to play than the Wii U.

And when it comes to Wii U's Nintendo games were more exciting is unfortunately hard to be justified, I can agreed on you Nintendo had lots of great ideas for Switch back in 2014, but after Splatoon's release in 2015, most games Nintendo give to us were utter crap... I can easily mention some of them like Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Devil's 3rd, Starfox Zero, and the game that should be thrown into the fire, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival.
Not even Wii U's indie game lineups were that pretty, you have some interesting ones, but again once entering 2015, even indie game studios were starting to back off from Wii U.

But with all those "essay" rambling, to you it doesn't matter much, for me I think Wii U's game library we pretty good too. But when comparing to Nintendo Switch, for me at least, Switch has better game library than Wii U and we are only more than a year after Switch's launch.

I don't need to justify why something makes me excited. Nor why something doesn't. Excitement is a feeling.
True, with that being said I'm curious to hear what exactly make you excited when it comes to Switch.

For me, I wasn't that excited for Switch either, until the announced a Xenoblade, Splatoon sequel, plus new Mario sandbox 3D game, all coming 2017 were excited for me already.

In 2018, I'm excited for more games that I want to play, mostly JRPGs, certain ports, and Smash. Yes, excited is a feeling, but when now what Switch has doesn't make you excited, then I don't know what else will unless you are waiting for a specific game come to Switch.

Switch has better game library than Wii U and we are only more than a year after Switch's launch.
Only because it's getting actual third-party support, honestly.

Because for the first-party games, while impressive at first glance, are mostly either...
  • Ports/iterative sequels (MK8D, Splatoon 2, Tropical Freeze, BotW, Hyrule Warriors, etc.)
  • Games with a serious lack of content for its price (Star Allies, Splatoon 2 at launch, ARMS at launch and arguably still the case now, FE Warriors)
  • Legitimately new and interesting games that end up having a bunch of flaws that make me lose interest in the game once I have nothing else to do (ARMS again, Odyssey, BotW again)
  • The occasional game that isn't worth it at all (1, 2, Switch!)
  • Games that are far too time-consuming for me to commit myself towards now that I have 40-hour work weeks (Xenoblade 2)
The only first-party games I can think of that doesn't fit any of those categories are Mario Tennis Aces, which was released only a few weeks ago, and... nothing else for now since I don't count unreleased games. And I haven't purchased this one due to a lack of interest.

And out of these first-party games, the only one I'm still having fun playing is Splatoon 2.

The only games I bought for Switch that I was excited for prior to getting them were Breath of the Wild and Sonic Mania.

Both of them are multiplatform and even in Breath of the Wild's case, the best way to play the game is on PC via emulator. I got Breath of the Wild on Switch mainly because I needed something to play on Switch specifically and I found it discounted on Switch, and Sonic Mania was an impulse buy because my PS4 and PC copies were delayed and I wanted to play it ASAP.

The other two games are Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I bought FE Warriors because I had a gift card to spend and my local GameStop offered me the Special Edition for the exact price of my gift card, so it's basically a free copy. And Xenoblade 2 I was very on the fence about, but then I saw this video and said "OK I'll do it for the Welsh Cat". I also got that game discounted.

Right. I really want to own at least one import within my Switch's lifespan.

The only problem with that is I can't find any that catches my attention so far (there's Fight Crab but that's coming out next year.)

Not sure how many of you guys are into Tekken, but there's some unused voice clips in Tekken 4, implying many more characters from Tekken Tag were gonna come back, not just Kazuya and Lee.

There's even the early names for Steve and Christie.

The most interesting is that there's a clip of Jinpachi's voice getting called, who didn't show up until Tekken 5.

Damn it, low battery. Guess it's time for another Pokemon Ultra Moon update!
Team:
- Takumi
- Pearl
- ChuChu
- Loki
- Ribbon
- Cha
Current Location: Route 2
As you can see, I made some drastic changes to my team; I benched half of them, at least for now.
I also caught a Grimer, a Wingull, and an Abra. I caught a Spearow that I traded for a Hawlucha (one of the best in-game trades ever, honestly). I might use some of those Pokemon later (pretty much anyone besides Wingull is fair game).
Anyway, I fought my way through the Trainer's School and did some stuff in Hau'oli City, then fought some Team Skull dudes on that Beach that wasn't in Sun and Moon.
...And I just realized that I forgot to visit the Cemetery, lol.
Also, I found this really neat website that I'm using to make completing the game easier.
Once my 3DS's battery is fully charged, I'll catch a Growlithe and grind my Pokemon a bit. I'm turning off the Exp Share until I get to Akala Island.

Are there any Zygarde Cells in USUM?
Nope, the Zygarde Cell quest is gone in USUM. You now catch Zygarde like other legendary encounters. It appears in its 50% Forme in that one cave in Poni Island that looks exactly like its catching location in X/Y.

You still get the Zygarde Cube from Dexio and Sina when you reach that one Aether Base in Ula Ula Island. I think they give you one of the Zygarde Formes when they give you the key item, but I don't remember which one (I feel like it's the 10% Forme). As far as I recall, they give you the remaining Zygarde Cells once you catch the wild Zygarde in Poni Island.

Oh thank Arceus, because I really don't feel like trying to collect all of them. I still haven't gotten all of them in my original Sun save file.
And thanks for telling me. :)

Finally down below 300 lbs. now!

First time in like 7 years I've been sub 300. Last time I was going to the gym regularly, but because of my work schedule and how exhausted it made me I was forced to stop. Nowadays all my workouts are done at home. I want to try to get down to 280 by the Winter, which is around my High School weight. I can start upping the intensity of my workouts to possibly get there a bit quicker.

Why would you ever say something like this?
>Being able to play the game at native 4K, 60 FPS
>Being able to play with any controller I want and being able to rebind the controls as I see fit
>Being able to play with other graphical enhancements like better reflections and higher resolution shadows
>Being able to easily use cheats and cheat engines if I ever feel like goofing off in the game
>Being able to more easily install mods than on Wii U or Switch

The better question is why wouldn't I say something like this?

Because it's not an easily accessible option, you talk about it like it's no different from choosing between the Wii U or Switch versions when the number of requirements and steps you must do to get it are more than it's worth when you could just, like, play the game on the console designed to olay the game you already have.

Sorry Shishoe, but I have to agree with him.
Playing in a PC is probably the best way to play any game in general. :p

Only because it's getting actual third-party support, honestly.
I mean... I know most already know this but, wasn't third party support is what Nintendo's console lacked for years? And was what people said that cause Wii U ultimately being a commercial failure? So Nintendo Switch getting actual third party support isn't something that we should take for granted. There were many games on Steam that I have been eager to play or prefer it to be on Switch, like Skullgirls, so I'm glad it is coming.

Because for the first-party games, while impressive at first glance, mostly tend to be great, are mostly either ports/iterative sequels (MK8D, Splatoon 2, Tropical Freeze, BotW, etc.) or are legitimately new and interesting games that end up having a bunch of flaws that make me lost interest in the game once I have nothing else to do (ARMS, Odyssey, BotW once again because it fits both categories), with the occasional game that isn't worth it at all (1, 2, Switch!)
Okay, again I aware this is just your opinion, my thoughts is that not the first party lineup while you agree it is impressive, it is actually one of the best first year lineup was not only the best for Nintendo but also compare to other current gen consoles. And I agreed with you on ARMS, no comment on Botw since I haven't even got it, Odyssey though I couldn't disagree with you enough, but let's just agree to disagree on that at this point lol.

With how work is taking so much of my time, Xenoblade 2 will probably never be purchased by me. Not that I don't want to try it, just that a game like this requires a lot of time and commitment, which is beginning to be a lacking resource since I'm starting to get 40-hour work weeks and I'd rather spend the free time I have left with things that won't take me 800 hours.
Eh.. not sure why you mention XC2 all of sudden (Besides knowing me that I'm a huge XC2 fan lol), I don't really care if you want to buy the game or not. Perhaps you may think that I will bash at anyone who doesn't want to buy XC2, that far from the case. I "bash" those who doesn't play game but tries to talk about how crap the game is in certain perspectives that "makes your head explode"<(XC2 DLC quest reference lol).
The only games I bought for Switch that I was excited for prior to getting them were Breath of the Wild and Sonic Mania.
Oh yeah... Sonic Mania... I bought the game back when it was released... not sure why but I stopped playing it after finishing the first zone...
Breath of the Wild? This may be shocking or not shocking, perhaps this is because me not really a Zelda fan... I was never interested on picking up the game... probably never will until I saw a super cheap copy someday.

Yeah, yeah, we get that PC is the best way to go when it comes to emulators and mods... but for me I was never fond those after GBA and DS emulators. And since I don't own a PC myself, I will never risk to download those mods and emulators, otherwise when the PC screws up my parents gonna blame me for that lol.

Also, like I said, when it comes to PC, yes there are certain games that I prefer to play it on, such as Fortnite... trying to shot at people is a tough thing to do, but I still enjoy it when playing with my brothers.

I was never interested on Fire Emblem series (But my brothers play the **** out of the game... huh...)

As for XC2 I----- don't think I need to explain anything more here lol. Besides that I would have said the Switch 2017 January presentation kind of sucked if it wasn't for this game being announced.

I also notice "This is {Insert a XC2 cast here}" videos were popping up on my recommendation for months back when I was checking XC2 videos lol. Didn't watch this to prevent any spoilers.

And Nia's VA is still bad...

Moreover, confession time, I haven't play XC2 that much after I got all Torna Blades, not because I was bored with the game, probably just that I wanted to play other games, and I getting less and less time to play...

All in all Chiko, I get that people have different reasons to get excited. If you ask me what make me excited, well... Smash Ultimate is enough, but if I want more...

More Xenoblade is always good lol.

And wow look, XC2 is getting an anime:
There was a problem fetching the tweet
Nah, this anime is called Shichisei no Subaru, it's a light novel and the plot sounds awfully similar to Swords Art Online... uh....

Nevertheless, if switching the MMORPG Union to Xenoblade might still work lol. But that's just me.
Right. I really want to own at least one import within my Switch's lifespan.

The only problem with that is I can't find any that catches my attention so far (there's Fight Crab but that's coming out next year.)
To be fair there isn't much Japan only games on Switch that is good... even if it is it eventually comes to the west. Like Gal Metal...never expect that come to the west...until now...

While you are right but...
>You can do that with certain PC games, and a decent quality of PC monitor and graphics card to support it...
>Your PC needs either USB Connect or your PC needs to ability to connect to Bluetooth devices
>Yeah, if the game supports it, some games though you don't really need that much high graphics, but it's always nice to have them not gonna deny that.
>It all comes to games, using cheats will make you banned, and using cheats in certain games makes the game bored pretty quickly from my past experience at least.
>... why do you have to install mods on home consoles? Installing mods on home consoles were never an easy task.

The better question is that "Why do you prefer PC just mostly for the mods and graphics?" lol, nah I'm just half joking, I never care about mods and cheats, even on PC I often try to get games normally.

Also, while I always consider PC the best platform to play games, please aware that you still need to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars just to get the best gaming performance. Even if you get the parts yourself, it will still costs a fortune, and if you aren't good at setting up your PC you just might easily break the parts...
Because it's not an easily accessible option, you talk about it like it's no different from choosing between the Wii U or Switch versions when the number of requirements and steps you must do to get it are more than it's worth when you could just, like, play the game on the console designed to olay the game you already have.
To be fair, some games are better to play on PC/PS4/Xbox One than Switch if you don't care about the portability, like DOOM, Wolfenstein II, and Fortnite.
Sorry Shishoe, but I have to agree with him.
Playing in a PC is probably the best way to play any game in general. :p
Yes, Shiny but I don't think you actually have to money to get a PC that can run games in 4K and in 60 fps, even a college student like me getting a Switch last year nearly emptied my wallet. And as an Asian college student, even if I have PC, taking PC and the stuff from my dorm to my home and vice versa... eh... never convenient. Not to mention study abroad... I remember I bring my Switch to US, and my friend from the same college told me he prefers PS4, but he didn't take it to US because it was too big to carry.

Because it's not an easily accessible option, you talk about it like it's no different from choosing between the Wii U or Switch versions when the number of requirements and steps you must do to get it are more than it's worth when you could just, like, play the game on the console designed to olay the game you already have.
BotW is super easy to emulate though, lol.

I think the only games releasing this year I will buy are Smash hollow Knight hyrule warriors(after price drop) and okami HD. From what we know anyway.

There's a lot of last year's stuff I don't have in my library yet.

I liked Splatoon and surprisingly spent 40 hrs in it on the first game even though I only liked it a bit cos often gamepad and bull**** online rotation.

However the more I see of Splatoon 2 updates the more I wanna get it so I prob will this summer after I beat a few games from backlog and switchlog (yep I seperate switch).

Yeah sure, unfinished and unstable emulators that only run on high tech computers that requires god knows how much RAM to keep the game running, not to mention having to get the ROM data from a gamecard is all a super easy process compared to, like, pressing a button on a gaming console.
All for some better graphics which are certainly worth it.

Of course I can buy it. I have like a few thousand dollars, so maybe I can buy one. I probably will not because I already have a good one plus I have better things to buy. I am not talking about our money but my money. :p

The lack of third-party support is a reason the Wii U failed, but not the only one.

The name itself making it sound like it's an accessory along with the horrible marketing and poor launch lineup also killed its chances.

Odyssey though I couldn't disagree with you enough, but let's just agree to disagree on that at this point lol.
Alright, but let me bring up this Odyssey rant first. If you don't wanna read it, it's spoilered, so just don't open it..

Do you think it's good platforming design to give you around 20 techniques to use in the game, but only require only about a quarter of them to 100% the game, with absolutely zero opportunity to use the rest outside of making some shortcuts that are ultimately completely optional?

Not even the final level, one supposed to test everything as per Mario tradition, doesn't even think to draw from all these optional techniques.

All you need to complete the game is move, jump, throw Cappy and capture stuff, along with the rare wall jump, long jump, ground pound and roll. You don't even need to use Cappy as a platform all that much and everything else is literally useless, as you could easily 100% the game without using them once.

This is a hugely missed opportunity given the sheer potential Cappy can bring.

And no, those hidden stacks of coins in hard to reach places don't count because the reward is really sad, considering there are far more efficient ways to grind coins with much less effort and much more consistence. Heck, after the first time, the stacks get much smaller in future attempts.

It's like Nintendo's trolling anyone who dares to think outside the box, honestly.

If there were moons instead instead of coin stacks, I'd be singing a different song about these hiding spots because you'd actually be rewarded for using those techniques you can use with something that actually matters.

"But there are bonus platforming challenges on every kingdom that give moons!"

Yes, but they're stupid easy, even most post-game ones aren't challenging until you reach that second post-game world, actually. Doesn't feel rewarding at all when there's no difficulty.

And since the game never considered using most of Mario's toolkit, the results of experimenting with it are never fully worth it. At best, you get an optional shortcut. At worst, you get damaged or fall off the map.

Yes, experimenting with options on a PLATFORMER can get you PUNISHED in this game. If you don't get the point I'm sharing, just imagine a shooter game where everytime you pull the trigger, you lose health while the enemy doesn't. It's a very counterintuitive way of handling a game.

And as for the feeling of exploration... it's not really as expanded upon as it should. Most moons obtained from exploration are either discovering linear sub-levels, minigames or recurring gags like a bird, sheep herding or a bunny. This removes any special meaning from getting moons since it gives you the feeling that you can get dozens by just existing. The moons you get from actually discovering hidden spots aren't as common either, from what I recall.

And then, Balloon World... at first glance, it seemed like it would solve the issue of platforming and experimention not being rewarded enough, but... it didn't. If anything, it mades the flaws bigger; the 30-second timer is incredibly restrictive in some kingdoms, the linearity of most kingdoms means there's not that many good hiding spots so it's incredibly repetitive (believe me, I ****ing grinded that mode to death) and of course, assholes using glitch spots.

Also, they managed to make capturing a T-Rex, one of the big Internet-breaking things we saw at E3 2017, suck. And despite its claims of being more like Mario 64, it felt more like Galaxy 1 due to it pretending to be open-world when there's really only one path to go most of the time. Not saying it makes it bad since Galaxy 1 is also a great game, just that things weren't as they were hyped up to be.

Now, don't take this as me hating the game. How could I hate a game I played almost 300 hours with, after all? I loved what I did in Odyssey and the ideas definitely left me wanting more of it. I just think that, like literally anything in existence, it has flaws.
