Because 30-40 frames of endlag as your norm is not good. That is half a second of vulnerability with characters who can hit on frame 5 or below. And especially in this game where it seems you can be more aggressive.

Shulk's end lag is a big problem, but that range makes up for it or at least prevents him from being low tier.

That's basically my issue with the concept.

It's not unlike being trapped in an abusive relationship. They hold something over you to make leaving harder if things go south.
