I might have gotten mad at some point, but with everyone else doing it to an extreme and $20 a year, I don't even freaking care anymore. I'll pay my cash, I'll play my games, hopefully someone will be there with me.

Considering the improvements Nintendo made to the 3DS over time, the online service probably will improve over the course of it's existence.

Probably not with convenient voice chat, though. While playing my games is gonna be the one place I'm not hearing people scream angry obscenities in the context of a Nintendo system for the next several years, TBH.

Biddies tiddies Dark Mystletainn is a piece of work, and Ishtar's kit is interesting too. Hoping their stats keep up the pace.

Dunno exactly how much I'm feeling I Can't Believe It's Not Tiki - I haven't had much need for dancers outside of breaking out Olivia for some recent F2P strategies - but if one comes my way I guess Firestorm Dance might make Ninian a medium-priority acquisition again, get her in the RD dragon squad with Fae.

Eh. Might snipe a bit for Ares, see where it takes me.

I'm pretty meh on the online Switch service. But It's 20 bones for a year so I ain't gonna get my knockers in a twist over it.

I'm also pretty lazy when it comes to subs. I still don't have PS+ even with all the fighting games I play. I'm so lonely though, there's only so much training mode labbing I can take before I finally crack. Why does this keep happening to me.

I know the GBA games were received alright but I usually see nothing but negativity for the Legend trilogy (whether it's Youtubers or random average joes online.)

But I started seeing it more after the Reignited Trilogy got revealed.

It's just a case of rabid fanboys of the Classic trilogy being outspoken.

The first forum I ever joined was a Spyro forum I still check on today, so I've seen the motions of that fanbase, including the transition into Skylanders. LoS has a distinct following.

The games themselves aren't bad by any stretch, it's very much like how the Werehog was initially received in Sonic Unleashed. Some people just don't like seeing their childhood platforming icons take up beat 'em up classes regardless of actual quality.

Weirdly enough the most enticing part about the price for me is the NES games. Assuming the library grows at a steady pace and gets a good selection, just one year's subscription would be much cheaper than what it would have cost to get them all on VC. Granted you need to keep the subscription active to play them but sufficient expansion should make it seem like you're paying to get more games, not paying to keep access to ones you already have.

I think I'll have to wait till September to see how much I feel like paying. I'd like to play Smash Switch online and keep playing Rocket League online but the rollover to a paid service has me feeling very apathetic. I don't subscribe to PS+ partly because I'm cheap, partly because most of my library consists of single player games and also because during semester, I hardly touch my PS4. Smash alone is something I buy consoles for, so it could get me to start paying for online. At the same time, I can basically live off computer matches in Smash when I'm not playing with others in person.

What confuses is me is the general Nintendolife reaction.

The comment section there is usually a ****storm of pessimism and people who seem like they don't even like Nintendo at all.

Yet most people are actually fine with the announcements.

Given Hamster's Arcade Archives releases and the upcoming SEGA AGES, it's to be expected. As fun as it would be to have it on Switch, I don't know if it's a good thing to have to pay for ROMs again. Detecting if you've purchased titles on your NNID and downloading them automatically on Switch would be nice.

Not that I've been a huge VC enthusiast myself, since I'd most likely set up an emulator on my PC and play games on it.

Ehh... if one is fine with the price and whatever, that's alright... I guess? That's his or her opinion. I personally disagree, but I would not downvote their posts. But to be fair, why would one defend a service that is so barebones right now and won't differ much at all once its full version gets released? And in my own "personal" case, why would anyone defend paid online?

If I'm upset at something and have every right to criticize the corporation whose products I buy, that's just me expressing my thoughts. I don't need or have to be liking everything they do. I know not everything they do will please me. Some say criticism helps make a better product. There it is.

I had a friend who's a MASSIVE Xbox fanboy. Back in the 7th gen of gaming, he actively used Xbox's paid online as a reason as to why it made the 360 better than the PS3.

I hate having to pay for online myself. I miss when Nintendo's stance was not making you have to pay more money on top of what you paid for the console and the games. Unfortunately it really just comes down to the costs of maintaining everything. There's probably an argument about Nintendo selling P2P but for dedicated servers it's very generous to get them for free.

It's like why websites have ads. If keeping a website up was free, there wouldn't be any. If an online service could be run at no cost, it'd be free. If you're a business that can get people to pay for you, rather take money out of your own pockets, why wouldn't you? Sucks for the consumer but at least the big 3 are trying to incentivise people to do so, to varying degrees of success obviously.
