The thing I'm most miffed about is the lack of Virtual Console. Namely, things like the GBA/DS games from the Wii U one would've been my bread and butter on the Switch. Ah well. Guess I better go buy any remaining NES/SNES games I still want on my 3DS in case Nintendo stops the service all together.

I don't know. The Virtual Console has been one of my favorite features since its inception, so I'm just sad to see it go.

Well, DS games would've have worked all that well due to the dual screens, but yeah, still a shame to see it go.

Honestly loved the idea and wondered how far they'd go with it for the Switch.

I think they could make up for the lack of Virtual Console if they simply expand the free games to at least as far as NES-N64, and Gameboy-DS.

Third parties are already moving on to their own methods of re-releasing games so I can see why they would drop out.

I've been out of the loop on this one bit, but you only keep the free games for the month, right? Not permanently?

You'll keep them so long as you have a subscription.

At first it was going to be like the free games on PS+, where games are only available for current subscribers. You don't have a subscription for that month, you miss those games.

Then Nintendo said they'd change it to more like a Netflix thing. All the games stay available after being added and so long as you're subscription is active, you can play any of them.

I'm assuming if Nintendo hasn't completely stumbled over they'll stick to the latter.

I have it.
That Grima is amazing. +DEF -SPD is Male Grima's second best nature available!!! ( +Atk -SPD is the best ).

Here is mine in comparison, which is +HP -SPD.
Anything that is -SPD is great for Grima for one reason; no matter what build of him you make, that speed ain't gonna be useful.

Every other stat can benefit from a boon.

+HP gives more mixed bulk
+ATK gives him the highest base attack in the entire roster
+DEF makes him an insane physical wall
Even +RES can be seen as helpful since it can help with mixed tank builds, especially if you have Warding Stance as a possible fodder skill

But I'm honestly really proud of the Grima build I have right now. I could make him even worse, but what would require Bold Fighter and I don't have that yet, so for now, I've got this absolutely MONSTROUS tank that can shrug off attacks from literally anyone who doesn't have anti-armor or anti-dragon weapons.

Obviously, that build is bonkersly fun to use.

Ah. My preference is +Attack.
My Grima is really good too, it is just his weakness is red mages.
Your Grima is actually a bit scary.

Saw the Online news. It's important that people realize they're paying $1.70 for the service a month.

And I get that Nintendo didn't use to do this, but Nintendo's gotta make money. People should feel free not to pay for it.

You see the silver coin thing on the home screen?

That's the Sacred Seal Forge. You use Sacred Coins and various currencies to upgrade seals.

Scary? Wait until you know what the skills are!

Swap is mainly there for movement shenanigans with other armored allies. Nothing really bonkers here.

Warding Stance 3 gives him +6 Res when he's attacked, so that 28 Res becomes a 34, turning him into a mixed tank with high defensive stats and high health, with 50 HP. In other words, anyone who dares to approach him in their turn is not going to do much unless they specialize in killing armors or dragons.

It also synergizes insanely well with Vengeful Fighter 3, since that skill gives him a free follow-up and accelerates the special cooldown as long as high HP is over 50%. That skill in general is just ****ing broken, if you ask me, and the fact that he came bundled with it is even more ridiculous.

Ward Armor is there to boost his allies, notably Jakob who uses Bonfire, thus allowing that special to strike harder.

Close Def 3 is there for only one reason; Expiration's adaptive damage (in other words, the ability to attack through the weaker stat between Def and Res) only applies to distant units (bows, daggers, tomes and staves), so I felt like giving something to the poor souls who have to fighting him up close. This stat gives him +6 in both Def and Res when attacked by close units (swords, lances, axes and dragons), boosting his already insane 40/34 defenses to a mind-blowing 46/40.

If anyone without an anti-armor or anti-dragon weapon can actually scratch him without needing a special, I'll be pretty dang surprised.

Yes Stoopid, I know. I just can not find Attack +3, which would make my Grima really dangerous and more attack than yours.

I had this flashback to when I was a kid wondering what living inside a computer must be like.

Now I just wake up.

...

I think we'll get more SNES/NES collection packs, but VC is dead. Instead of paying for one game, we'll buy whole "Volumes" of the classics.

I'm not 100% sure. But even if you only have access to them while your subscription is active, I'd still consider it worth it at €20 if the selection was regularly updated and had good games. SNES and N64 games could really work well with online multiplayer I think.

If the service were better and if it had more noteworthy games to play online, I would care more about its good price.
You get what you pay for.

And they will feel free not to pay for it.

As long as they also tell everyone around them about it, loudly, as often and as much as humanly possible.
Maybe they're compensating for something.

Do you think your team will shrek red's dragon team?
The thing with his dragon team is simple; if I can't kill in one shot, I'm ****ed.

So really, it could go either way depending on whether or not I can make smart use of my mage and my two walls.

Yes Stoopid, I know. I just can not find Attack +3, which would make my Grima really dangerous and more attack than yours.
You need to upgrade it to Attack +2 first.

Oh....

I have a VaLyntine with a Blade tome.

Your Ayra is just a freaking snack to me.

I've got a Grima of my own, which you stated to be really scary.

Oh, and I got a Zelgius.

And if my VaLyntine in within Desperation range with Hone buffs and her special ready, she can actually kill your Grima.

I know because it was my main strategy in the Tempest Trials were Grima was the final boss.

Nintendo Switch owners: Emulating NES games at upscaled 1080p, have to pay for a subscription to keep them.

PC gamers: Emulating every Nintendo system up to the Wii U and 3DS, at native 4K60 and above, sometimes with upgraded texture packs. Don't have to pay for an online subscription service. Can play these games like Smash and Splatoon on official Nintendo servers. Can use the game copies you already own.

I don't mean to put Nintendo-only gamers down, but there actually is an objective argument to be made.

Well I mean, you can also download any movie and song you want free of charge, and if you're really good at what you do people's credit card information while you're at it.

There's a reason why that's not typically marketed as a set of perks of owning a PC, though.

It probably wouldn't be that thrilling because it's still a game with blurred up jagged assets from multiple gens ago that more than likely doesn't have the animation frames to look much better in high FPS.
