Kind of a shame to hear a middling reception to ARMS. Oh well, another thing to not buy and save money for another thing.
Two people said they didn't like it.

One person said they did.

How about we wait for more responses before we decide, eh?

Meh, ARMS is fun. But with my supposedly flimsy internet connection I don't see myself getting it.

I don't know why is it always Nintendo games where I have really bad issues playing online.

The reception from Twitter users is mostly positive, with the constant of people getting sore arms after some playing.

Reading through these...

Comments are leaning towards positive but still a fair amount of unhype.

I think its gonna be like Splatoon.

You either love it and think its super unique.

Or you hate it.

ARMS is a new IP. Don't forget that. Its a new idea being thrown in the sling. Where its going to go- well you never know until you try, and I'll give props to Ninty for being more explorative with these newer titles, like Splatoon for example, which was a huge success.

It's not gonna be like Splatoon where the reception was generally positive, more like Mass Effect Andromeda where it's really love it or hate it

The reception is nowhere near MAE where it was panned tremendously.

It's more like 60%/40% positive here.

The motivation for some people to buy the game got killed because they got whooped in online; other players quickly learned chaingrabs and 0-to-death combos.

I've been seeing more and people defend it surprisingly.

Anyways, which team at Nintendo worked on Arms?
And how do I get Nintendo to send me free games to review?

On one hand: lolscrubs

On the other hand: 0 to death combos aren't the type of thing you should be dishing out so easily.

From what I've seen elsewhere, the response is definitely mixed.

Edit: lol you already said this.

Arms was great. The motion controls were a bit blerg to me, but then I played in handheld mode and really enjoyed it.

I need a looooot of practise though. 1 v 1 is the best but I sucked haha.

Can't wait to play the other modes too. This was a really short snippet of the game and I liked it a lot. Matches are fast paced and the online was solid.

I don't think there are 0 to death combos.

Just reads upon reads.

I doubt they were true 0 to death tbh. The game was out for like an hour, people just haven't figured out the best strats. Grabs were powerful but if you dodge it you're left completely open with no guard.

Probably most of the combos have an easy way to be countered, but there was not enough time to figure them out; the next Testpunches will be more competitive for sure.

I played the Arms demo with motion controls, and the motion controls did feel rather odd to me. I had hard time moving left and right even though I tilted my joy cons. I haven't tried the Pro Controller yet because I started the demo rather late, but when it comes up again, I will definitely see how the game feels with a Pro Controller.

I wish the demo had an offline mode where you can practice against CPUs, because the motions controls definitely take some getting used to.

Oddly, I haven't found anyone who truly hates Splatoon yet. Reception's been positive or meh.

Suppose I haven't been looking terribly hard. I'm sure there's still someone out there salty about tilting their gamepad who never got the memo about turning that off.

By the sound of it though, ARMS is gonna get a proper hate train for the motion controls, as I feared. Yet I'm seeing a lot of good vibes in that reddit thread as well; hope those win out in the long run.

I whiffed on the first testpunch though; no observation, just got regurgitation and speculation. Gonna catch the morning run.

Okay, we just got a rush of people coming on and saying they loved it.

Seems the people who were enjoying it wanted to use the full hour.

Yeah I literally couldn't move with motion controls and I'd keep accidentally blocking. Moving is a dream when docked.

But yeah, I'd have preferred to practise for a while against CPUs because that felt like a spamfest haha.

I've never been interested in ARMS. Just something about the game that hasn't grabbed me. Happy that other people are enjoying it though.

I actually enjoyed it. The controls were responsive & tight from my perspective. I won a good majority of time (especially at V-Ball). Going to try the Pro Controller next time. I admit some moves felt cheap though. And Helix was not fun at all.

Keeping my preorder.

I also ended up liking characters I wasn't expecting to like, although it probably has to do with the Arm choices.

Ribbon Girl and the Master Mummy were somehow my faves despite being my least fave design-wise.

Before the demo: My faves were Mechanica & Min Min.

After the demo: My faves are still Mechanica & Min Min.

I'm really happy for that! ^_^

I've been reading this everywhere and I only got one thing to say:

****.

Helix was literally my most favorite character. How could this happen?

*crawls under table and mourns for Flubber*
Shame shame shame!

I love Helix but couldn't use his wierd shield or ice dragon arms well enough.

He's hilarious to watch though.
