Well, the salt that isn't directed towards the prospect of the game is mostly aimed at Emily Rogers. Because people still treat leakers as gospel until they get one thing wrong and become toxic, until they get something else right and become gospel again. No one seems to learn to see that kind of stuff in a grey area, treating it as nothing more than a possibility, and it's really to their detriment.

But yeah, most aren't big on the game. Can't say I am either, but like a relatively normal person I just skip what doesn't interest me... energy spent railing against something I don't have any obligation to buy is energy truly wasted.

You know what would light an even bigger bonfire? If Retro's next project wasn't Metroid OR DK. If Smash speculation is any indication the DK fandom is about on par with the Metroid one in terms of reactions to not getting what they want.

Parts of the internet would go "How dare this not be Metroid!" and break out the torches and pitchforks, but honestly, I wouldn't mind this. Retro has shown they know how to make a good DK game, to the point where Tropical Freeze might be one of the greatest 2D platformers ever made. If it turns out they're giving the big ape one more go, I'd be all for it.

Maybe people would get on board more easily if the Kremlings were the bad guys. Relevance for K. Rool, and all.

Heh? I'm thinking the reason Bayo 1 sold more is because the 360 and PS3's combined install base was in excess of ten times that of the Wii U. Also even excluding the Wii U and PC ports, Bayo 1 has sold more than Bayo 2... so I'm not quite sure what you're on about.

I don't know, I don't think it being neither would inherently result in rage. It depends what it was. Most people, from my understanding, don't want them to make another DKC game atm. And, yes, there would be those upset that it wasn't Metroid... but if the project looked engaging enough, I think the backlash would be mitigated.

Especially since it's not like Retro is the only dev that could work on Metroid.

I'm feeling confused and disappointed in myself right now.

The way everyone talks, 150cc is an absolute baby mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I've been trying to beat 150cc Grand Prix and I feel like I'm bashing my head against a brick wall.

It took me a couple of days just to get the second cup done with. I've been at the third cup for HOURS and I can't even win the THIRD course. It's not that I can't pull ahead of the NPCs, although I'm clearly not doing nearly as good of a job as I clearly should be considering the anecdotes. It's that I keep getting sniped by items within a range of the finish line that I can't recover, sometimes right before I pass it. Over and over and OVER again.

I don't even understand what it is I'm doing wrong, but clearly I must be doing something wrong because everyone else has such an easy time with it.

I feel like such an idiot right now. This isn't even the hardest mode available.

Welcome to Mario Kart 8, we hope you enjoy your stay. We've got it all - gangsta plumbers in green, amazon cosmic deities in tight racing suits because that **** prints money, characters that don't know what they're doing in Mario world, characters that REALLY shouldn't be here, and most importantly, a meta game dictated not by skill but by dumb luck. Competitive nerds get BTFO.

Seriously though, I had trouble with the later 150cc Grand Prix cups in the Wii U version. Partly because I was using characters I don't normally use to unlock Miiverse stamps. The game is heavily luck based and the A.I rubber bands (anyone who says they're always way ahead of the CPU in higher difficulties is lying, they're actually programmed to always be on your tail). Better get used to being screwed over at the last second because it will happen all of the time.

The court ruled against Nintendo the first time, saying that "MariCar" is not a commonly used abbreviation for Mario Kart. Nintendo has challenged it, and dunno how the new one is going.

(Funny thing about the renting costumes bit. They actually got away with that as the one renting costumes was not MariCar, but a shop next door. )

It helps to remember that Japan is very loose when it comes to copyright. Japan is a country where you can actually sell fan art and fan games for profit - that's basically what the doujin market is. That's a primary income source for a lot of young artists.

I wouldn't be particularly upset if Retro's working on another DKC instead of a Metroid, admittedly I'd be disappointed but that's to be expected as I am more of a Metroid fan than a Donkey Kong fan, but seeing as there's never been any confirmation on what Retro's been working on (apart from a few vague tweets that could very well mean absolutely nothing)...and Tropical Freeze is a really great game...

But I wouldn't want to see people **** on this new game of their's simply because it's not Metroid...Yes metroid's been on a bit of a drought with only a minor spin-off to hold us over, and Prime 3 has left us with a cliffhanger, but we really shouldn't have any expectations from Retro Studios regarding their new project...

It is a little upsetting that we still haven't any news about what they are working on however...
