I just remembered I never actually finished the Akame ga Kill manga, so I'm getting to that.
Looking back at this series, I have a love/hate relationship with it, on one hand, the fights are really ****ing good and the Jaegers, save for the armless *****, are really interesting characters; on the other, however, it seems the author doesn't know what basic character design is, the main cast sucks for the most part, the ending of the anime is really bad and the once manageable edge really starts getting to you when Wild Hunt is introduced.
Seriously, most of Night Raid is just a bunch of anime tropes: you got the Generic Shonen Protagonist, the Murderous Airhead, the Bara, the Tsundere, the BIG BOUNCY BIG SIS and the two red shirts(who were curiously the best characters of the group).
It's telling when the most sympathetic characters are your main villains, Wave would be a better protagonist, Pyro is a great husband and Ran is actually a decent person. Sure, Esdeath and Kurome are crazy ******* but they're much more interesting than the Good Guys™ and Esdeath does her work as a villain perfectly.
On the more positive side, the fights are actually super clever, nothing done in fights ever feels like an asspull, especially Esdeath's whole arsenal since it really shows what you can do with a simple ability(yet overpowered) of creating and controlling ice
One of my favorite moments is

When Tatsumi overpowers Esdeath's Time Freeze ability(which is great on its own right) based on an early comment on how the creature whose scales were used to make the Incursio armor could survive even extreme cold.
