I'll talk more later when I'm not swamped with stuff I need to take care of...and not fighting my back every step of the way...
Happy Birthday!

Also I completely forget crystals were apart of fates storyline, but the plots all over the place for the game.

I'm assuming you reached Chapter 17 at the time of the post?

If not, oh boy, better have your archers, axe-users, and tanks ready. That chapter is the ninja cave of doom.

Then that gives you only like 3 options.
There's more than 3. Not counting the siblings, you have:
-Felicia
-Flora
-Mozu
-Selena
-Beruka
-Effie if you accept ENG Ages, otherwise in JP, I think she's the same age as Elise.
-Peri, but Laslow makes her better.
-Charlotte
-Nyx if you accept the fact that looks don't equal Age and that she is older than most.
-Anna

Happy birthday, I do not like that pun though

What are you talking about? Lunge Ninjas with Poison Stike and Savage Blow are the easiest thing to take care of!

Chapter 17 is manageable by abusing the DVs at least. Chapter 25, on the other hand, oh boy, that is some out of this world bull****.

I'm into Chapter 6 so far, but I have thoughts on the main cast. Note that I have not played the first Xenoblade, only X, and I'm not playing with the English dub.
So far I am at chapter 5 and probably at the end of it. But I think I will try to complete quest and heart to hearts.
Speaking of heart to heart, it will take me a lot of time because I want to know the entire dialogues. And I want to hear Japanese dub too.

Speaking of which I think I will make Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X comparison later, and also give out my twitter.com cent about which is the best Xenoblade game.
I'm one of those few people whose interest for a game will increase after watching late-game story spoilers. I've had a good number of games that made me feel more eager to play them when I watched their intense scenes later on, because said scenes often give me the same emotions, if not more amplified when I then play it first hand.
That's totally cool, for me I prefer some games to stay spoil free when playing. And some I just want to know the ending quickly.
As for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 besides avoiding spoilers. I am also trying to either get more rare Blades, or raise the rare Blades affinity chart, some aren't easy.

You would love Chapter 25 on Lunatic.

I did that with Death Note when I was sick once.

Normally my interest isn't strong enough to do so though.

Would have done it with S;G this time but I had other things going on.

Might have also done it with HLP when I watched that a little while ago but since it's my favourite I tend to actually like savouring it.

Do you have any particular preferences in genre or anything like that?

So here's a topic that I've been thinking of sharing for quite some time:

Who are your favorite fighting-game characters, writing/personality-wise?

It's a basic question, but I figured it'd be a fun thing to talk about since many tend to talk more about how fighting-game characters play rather than they are how they written. Thus, for this question, disregard your opinions on fighting-game characters based on their movesets, tier list rankings, usabilities, and other gameplay elements. Focus more on how they are written, their personalities, how do they contribute to the stories they come from, and other writing-style elements.

Here's my list of some of those characters that come to mind:

Ragna the Bloodedge: The main protagonist of the BlazBlue series, he's one of my favorite video game characters. While he is known for a being a "jerk-with-a-heart-of-gold" type character, I found him to be quite endearing with his bluntness and the way he cares about the people he trusts. He has some great dialogue throughout the series, and I also loved his character development throughout the four games. Also, Patrick Seitz does a fantastic job voicing him.

Noel Vermillion: The main heroine of the BlazBlue series, she initially starts out as a very timid character, but by Chrono Phantasma, she has some great character development where she becomes a far more confident and brave individual. I also find her to be very relatable as well, particularly her large self-consciousness and her social awkwardness. Another one of my favorite video game characters.

Hazama/Yuuki Terumi: He's a fantastic love-to-hate villain. This guy is absolutely sadistic to the core in everything he does, but the way he trolls his enemies makes him a very endearing villain in fiction.

F.A.N.G: Another good love-to-hate villain. He's nowhere as sadistic as Hazama/Yuuki Terumi, but he can be quite threateningly evil. I also find his over-the-top personality and motions to be quite funny. Honestly, I'd say he's one of the few good things to come out of Street Fighter V's story.

Rashid. Having an amazing theme song is one thing, but his personality and characterization makes him a thrill to watch. I really like his upbeat personality and the jokes he tries to makes. It was also pretty cool how he was basically one of the main protagonists in Street Fighter V for what he did to save the world from Bison. Another character who was one of the few good things to come out of SFV's story.

Jin Kazama: A badass with a pretty nice backstory too. It was admittedly pretty cool how he was the anti-hero of Tekken 6. Kinda wish he had more relevance in Tekken 7, but hey, I guess we got Tekken 8 for that.

Some other favorite video-game characters I have based on the writing-department include Lars Alexanderson, Ed, Ken Masters, Ryu, and Kagura Mutsuki.

ARMS getting a comic written by Ian Flynn at Free Comic Book Day on May 5. Also friendly reminder that a graphic novel for ARMS is coming too in Fall 2018.

Official comic description:
"In a story based on Nintendo's exclusive fighting game ARMS, a young fighter trains tirelessly to reach the top in the ARMS League Grand Prix—but first, he must defeat 599 other contenders!"
585 more characters confirmed!

Lili from Tekken will always be my favourite.

Just kinda love how quirky and varied her character is, but underneath the haughty ojou traits is an innocent sweetness to her. Plus I've always mained her so that helps. Love her design too.

Also her history in cameo appearances is something else, she showed up in some weird ecchi game called Queen's Gate where she was a lesbian who ogled at the other girls (who were mostly other game characters making cameos, like Ivy from Soul Calibur) with the male characters. Then that kinda became canon in TTT2 what with her totally being in lesbians with Asuka.

And she also was in a Digimon game for some reason.

I've always liked Grappler and big characters with lots of range and power in fighting games.

Zangief, FANG, Phoenix Wright, Bob, Charizard and Garchomp all fit in at least one of those.

I can play zoning and balanced characters, but speedy combo centric characters just aren't for me. Hands just aren't fast enough.

Yes but I rarely have any soda, so a ****ton of it in one go isn't THAT bad when consider that
I mean it could still have negative implications. Soda's are ridden with added sugar and a can of soda is like 30-something grams of sugar. The recommended added sugar intake is like 37.5g for men and 25g for women. So I would rather play it safe personally. I pretty much killed soda from my diet a while ago.

Of course alcohol is bad as well when not consumed responsibly. That goes without saying.

Some other favorite video-game characters I have based on the writing-department include Lars Alexanderson, Ed, Ken Masters, Ryu, and Kagura Mutsuki.
Starting on the NetherRealm Side:
Erron Black from MKX
A no-nonsense gunslinger who often gives plenty of snarky kommentary to the other characters he's fighting against. He's got a neat design, and his Variations are pretty neat as well, long-distance rifle, fast pistol-whipping combos and caltrops or even a bone sword 'courtesy' of Baraka. Easily one of my favourites from the Mortal Kombat series, especially from X.

Scarecrow in Injustice 2: I love what they did with him - you're not fighting the real Jonathan Crane - rather his Fear Gas induced monstrosity that's an extremely capable fighter. He's got a terrifying design with or without his Gear customisations, and a pretty versatile Chain ala Birdie. His Arcade Ending is pretty terrifying as well.

Arc System Works:
On the Guilty Gear side, I gotta say Faust, the crazed doctor. I love him not because of how wacky he is, but he's got a pretty messed-up backstory
Originally as Dr. Baldhead, one of his patients died during the operation as a result of Zato-1's interference, leading him to become a crazed serial killer
but nowadays he's devoted to saving those in need as a doctor should be. Runners-up would be Johnny, May and Axl Low.

For Blazblue, Hazama takes the cake for pretty similar reasons you've mentioned - loves trolling the heck out of people and someone you just love-to-hate because of his deeds. Runners-up I'd say would include Makoto, Kagura and Lambda-11.

Capcom:
Without a doubt Rashid from SFV, being one of my favourite newcomers in the current generation of Street Fighter - He's got a likeable personality and amazing theme song. Street Fighter runner-ups would be Guile, Menat and Yun.

On the Marvel Vs Capcom side, Phoenix Wright was captured amazingly well to his home franchise and one of my all-time mains. The runners-up I'd say would be Viewtiful Joe and Jedah.

Sub-Zero, well, mostly Kuai Liang. I liked him slowly becoming a hero as time went on, and then they show him as a mentor figure to the younger characters. Kenshi and Scorpion also had cool backstories. I think Mileena is more interesting than Kitana though.

Which is probably the very same reason I like Siegfried in Soul Calibur, he starts out as some cocky young kid, gets corrupted and turned into Nightmare, but does his best to redeem himself.

As much as I like Jin Kazama, I don't think him becoming a villain in Tekken 6 was handled as well as it should have been. They'd also have to set up a redemption for him kind of like they did for Heihachi. Basically, 3-5 was the height of Jin's character I guess.

Eddy Gordo's also a bit underrated too, since every game up until 7 actually developed his character in some way. But most of the cast in Tekken 7 were stagnated in their development, even Jin, who's a core character.

Ryu and Terry are pretty badass. TJ Combo as well, who also has a redemption story. And I also liked Taki and Nina Williams from the get go. Personality wise, Asuka Kazama's pretty cool, but her story hasn't gone anywhere despite being in the main family.

That said, fighting game stories ain't that important, other than potentially losing some characters in most core titles when they "die". Like Ogre.

What FE maps have made you feel like this?
View attachment 134517
For me, it was the entirety of FE6(except the Endgame because lol and Never-Ending Dream because that was actually lit).

>Bolting Sage in the middle of a circular map
Oh god no
>Swordmaster on a Throne
OH GOD NO
>Siege Tomes in a FoW map
Here we go again
>****ton of Wyverns in a map filled with mountains
OH GOD NO
>6 ****ing bosses each with a Seize tile, half of them with a status staff and the other half with with high af Avoid
OH GOD PLEASE NO
Aside from Battle Before Dawn (as it was already mentioned), I'd say that there's a nut insignificant number of maps in Conquest and SoV that make me feel that way.

From Conquest, I would like to bring mention to Chapter 17 (Screw all those ninjas) and 19 (Because sometimes not being able to even attack an enemy is extremely annoying, let alone actually factoring in RNG).

From SoV, 2 that really stand out to me is Nuibaba's Abode (Got to love that extremely narrow moving space combined with that extremely long range tome) and Jedah's map (well, I guess I could say that for most of the swamp maps in that game, but his stands out the most due to him being a very difficult (albeit optional) fight.

Granted, annoying maps didn't stop me from liking those games, but they are still quite annoying.

Is Mayonnaise an instrument?

Also I have not heard much of Arms yet, how has Arms been? I have been caught up in the BOTW / Mario Odyssey / Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Hype. Is Arms getting some kind of update or something?
I love this thread and everyone in it. Lets reach two thousand pages!

Also I have not heard much of Arms yet, how has Arms been? I have been caught up in the BOTW / Mario Odyssey / Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Hype. Is Arms getting some kind of update or something?
It does like every month, adding a new character. It’s alright. There’s better games on the Switch, and there’s worse.

I love this thread and everyone in it. Let's reach two thousand pages!
Update v5.0 is coming out sometime this month.

Update will include the fifteenth character as this teaser video shows:

I hope that Disney won't force Fox to sanitize X-Men or especially Deadpool. Deadpool was awesome and one of the best superhero films I have ever seen.

But on the bright side, maybe we will finally see the original Star Wars trilogy and not just the several edits made with them.

Reason #456,523,456 why I should not be allowed to have image editing software. But it was such conveniently posed official art and I had just finished playing some street fighter while watching DBZ at the same time

There was a problem fetching the tweet

So that's where the "Goku" in "Shun Goku Satsu" is taken from :troll:

Here's something interesting, remember how Eurogamer PT said there's two more characters left for FighterZ? There had been an on going debate on whether they were the two SSB characters, but current builds included those two, increasing questions.

Well, supposedly, an editor from Eurogamer posted this in a thread over at r/dragonballfighterz.
Hello everybody,

I'm the editor of Eurogamer.pt. This information is legit. It was said in a presentation by Bandai Namco. We were at the event where the press and youtubers got to play several of the Bandai Namco games for 2018. The info about the two characters was said there.
Source.

As for the two characters, if that many people know they'll either leak early or we're gonna be hearing about them soon. The common guesses are Broly and Android 21, Broly and Bardock or Android 21 and the unknown female Majin from the story trailer (who is also speculated to be Android 21 herself after a transformation.)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
If there's a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 anime I will be super hyped. This may sound obvious but I do think Xenoblade Chronicles 2 anime is possible.
I can see them having the show with going with the main story but also add certain Blade quest scenarios in, but more better.
I need new anime to watch. Anyone have suggestions
Made In Abyss? Food Wars season 3?Black Clover? Re:CREATORS? Little Witch Academia?
Pretty sure you already watch most of them though...

So. . .I just killed a spam-bot because those things are lame. But I noticed it somehow had 15 trophy points.

A MOTHER****ING BOT MANAGED TO GET THE "ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH" SECRET TROPHY BEFORE I DID.
