My response:
I also need to give a disclaimer that I do not blindly defend Nintendo. And Nintendo right now is technically successful but the question now is if they can continue to or not. If it wasn't Smash Bros I wouldn't even bother of buying Wii U(Regardless Splatoon, that made my brother bought so I don't need to purchase anyway.
1. I think 3DS matters since Nintendo Switch is also a handheld regardless on how Nintendo is marketing this console right now. And sure it will when 3ds is like nearly a 7 year old handheld. And I highly recommend to do some research on why 3ds is successful. My theory is
-not much competition, PS Vita was a great handheld but sadly it didn't got a lot of support (only those Japan only games), and the memory cards were expensive. It also tried to do what the Switch is doing now but worse. You can bring up Smartphones when now Smartphones are getting better and that might kill off 3ds eventually.
-I partially agreed with you that the 3d was the selling point of the 3ds,but to be frank not much people even use the 3d when playing intense games like Smash Bros because the original hardware's 3d effect only works when you look straight to the screen . That is why New 3DS XL (stable 3d and better hardware) , 2DS, and New 2DS XL are a thing. -Pokémon... you already know that.
2. My point is, of course I want those games on Nintendo Switch but I never expected for those games to all suddenly come to the console or come/announced within a year. You should know that even porting those games takes time regardless on how easy the Switch is to develop. If Nintendo really just drag the developers to rush those games to the Switch then we might have the situation that is similar to Wii U when it had tons of rushed third party games at launch. I know it sucks that we still don't have titles with simultaneous release date with Xbox One and PS4, but that is usually the reality. We still have to wait and see if future games do come to Switch or not. When developers said "no plans" doesn't mean it will never come. They tend to focus on the platform they first developed for and then they consider whether they want to port it to Switch or not. Then we'll see Switch's third party support's true condition. With that said, I also hope that FF VII can come to Switch even though you will say it's impossible. Kingdom Hearts 3 we'll have to wait after it comes to PS4 and Xbox One. Just go check OJ from PlayerEssence, this is the Youtuber where I taken the point from, if you disagree with him I high recommend you to have discussion with him.
3. Exactly,also...Yokai..Watch...when mention kids buy those... For a moment one of the biggest sales driver for 3ds... Was Yokai Watch... And Monster Hunter, nuff said.
4. Well there were tons of Call of Duty games on the Xbox 360 alone lol. I am not sure if you were saying a single Call of Duty game outsells every Nintendo exclusive... I think it still didn't outsold the Wii's even though you keep taking "it's targeting casual audience" as the reason, Wii Sports at 83.54m, and then Mario Kart Wii at 35.63m. That's the main problem I have with your argument when it comes to third party. We'll see when will they start to port the newest Call of Duty game to the Switch. Sorry if I seems to be dodging the argument, but if Switch does have that Pokémon, and hopefully Call of Duty yeah, Switch will sell even more crazy.
5. It will be at least 1 year and 7 months old when the it releases on Switch , so you weren't totally wrong I guess. I checked Vgchartz, and not a defense or anything but the reason why I rarely checked Vgchartz is because it seems to have some credibility issues when it comes to how their data comes from, it is still a good source for game sales nonetheless. With that said thank you for replying to my comment and not trying bash viewers, that wasn't my intention either. Anyhow, I also need to say that you pinned is also pretty dumb in my opinion, I have made my reply, but no one seems to care about it lol.
