so something ive realized is this gen may be even shorter than gen 7 because from my count we only have 2 event legends

my speculation on the story is that you go through the island trial for the first half of the game and then the second half takes you through new areas of the islands to fight ultra beasts

Wrote my thoughts on the new Pokemon up.

- About the amount, it's kinda disappointing that we're barely getting many new mon after XY, but I'll live.
- The Starters were real to no one's surprise. I'm still going with Litten but I'm not crazy about any of them. Alternate forms were also debunked, sad stuff.
- I really don't care for Pikipek or it's Toucan Sam evolution
- Crabrawler goes from pugilist to a yeti? Sure why not
- Cutiefly only has one evo which was a bit surprising to me
- The sea urchin is cute, the evolution is uh...
- I'm glad GF can make spiders that don't make me fear for my well being.
- Morelull's evolution is uh... Something. I like it though.
- Salandit's evo is standard stuff, but I wonder if it's female exclusive like it was hinted at.
- Wimpod is essentially the Magikarp of the bunch and holy crap does it look amazing. They tried to do something similar with Binacle but most hated it. I feel Wimpod will be better received.
- Waaaay too many single stage mons this time around. I actually think it even hurts this batch which is a shame because a lot of them are great designs, but it feels like they should have at least one evolution (Minior, Mimikyu, Komala, etc)
- One old leak mentioned Solgaleo and Lunaala getting pre-evos but I didn't think they'd actually do it, absolute madmen. They're cute but that's about it.
- No third legend is pretty hilarious considering I mentioned the possibility yesterday on Twitter.
- Marshadow falls under generic cute to me. The good news is it's likely getting another form so there's that to look forward to.
- I don't have any complaints about the Tapus. The Narwhal is my favorite.
- The Ultra Beasts look like they were lifted straight out of NGE and I love them. I really hope they're catchable, not even because I wanna use them I just want to see them in Refresh.
- Alolan forms are a mixed bag for me. On one hand I like how they want to make underused Pokemon relevant. On the other hand, making them exclusive to Gen 1 was a weird execution. For one thing if a lot of Pokemon from other regions are living in Alola, why do only Kanto natives change form? I get that Gen 1 was the pioneer, but they could've at least thrown Gen 1 Pokemon that get evolutions in later installments like Electabuzz or Tangela a bone.

Overall I really like Gen 7, but the low amount kinda hurts it as well as around 12 non-legendary Pokemon being single stage when at least could've had more.

Looked it up. Turns out, not the case, meaning UBs are likely catchable

Can you record Pokestar opponents in your dex, though? Remember, you could record more Pokemon in your Diamond/Pearl dex than normal, so having dex entries doesn't inherently make something catchable. Failsafes are still possible. To say the least, I do believe Ultra Beasts are catchable, but a lot of the information only makes this a likely case at best.

I think we can assume that lanky black one with white hair is modeled after Guzma. That alone kinda tells me Aether might not be secretly evil like most assume.

That said, I wonder who the others are modeled after.

The green one is probably the green Aether guy, whatever his name was. The white one with wings is maybe Wicke?

Actually what if Absorption is Wicke and the totally black one at the end is Gladion?

Kinda fascinating these designs either way.

It depends on if the NX will indeed be a console/handheld hybrid after all and as it comes out early next year, then I can see this gen lasting for a pretty short time, yes. Unless they want to drag it out a little like they did between gen 5 and 6....
