you do? I didnt notice with My Delphox. He lasted all the way to AZ

Do I just baby my starters so much that they kick all the ***?
I should clarify that I spend the least amount of time. Maybe 1 gym

I grind until they evolve into final form

The middle forms suck

I hadn't noticed the Marshadow part, I just kinda skimmed it and thought it said unique dual type. But yeah, that definitely casts a lot doubt.

Can't say much about the rest, though getting less than 90 mons would be disappointing and I, personally, don't find Alolan forms to be a replacement.
Yeah, that's what I thought it meant too until a friend of mine pointed out otherwise. I could see the argument that he meant dual typing, but that's still something really notable to mess up since type and typing have different meanings here and you'd think he'd have that straight.

And agreed, I'd prefer above 90 myself since they allow us to see new concepts and ideas come to life and they often have great designs to them, so it's always fun to go around to find and catch them. It's for that same reason why I'm also on the same boat with the Alolan forms, they're cool additions overall, but they're limited in the new concepts that they can bring since they have to come off of an existing design and thus have restrictions on how much they can change. So I agree that they're not quite replacements for new Pokémon as it doesn't give the same sense of a new monster to find and catch like the actual new Pokémon do.

What if they bring back ??? type and he has it

It wouldn't be bringing in a new type, and it'd certainly be unique

Gen 5 is probably the only game where the starters aren't that good design wise AND gameplay wise.

I like all three Kanto and Hoenn starters and I like 2/3 with Johto (Meganium sucks alot and just looks worse from Bayleef) and Kalos (**** DELPHOX). I only like one starter in Sinnoh (Infernape is the man).
Unova starters are just BAD overall and I can only tolerate one which is Seperior. Samurott would be fine if it was a Water/Steel type and Emboar has less moves than Flareon despite liking it's design

Favorite Starters per region?

Regions where I like all three:
-Hoenn

Regions where I like all but one:
-Alola (I love Popplio and I like Rowlet, but I don't really care for Litten too much)

Regions where I only like one:
-Kanto (Charizard)
-Sinnoh (Empoleon)
-Unova (SERPERIOR)
-Kalos (Delphox)

Regions where I don't care for any of them:
-Johto (I almost like Meganium, but it's just so underwhelming...)

Just something I noticed in this thread. Most folks here fall in one of two camps.

1. Those who like Emboar and Samurott but not Serperior
2. Those who hate Emboar and Samurott but not Serperior

Kinda funny really.

I may harshly criticize Serperior, but I still love it and Samurott. If Serperior's movepull was a better, then being a jack of all trades would actually work. Currently, not too many choices for moves for a mon who's got decent stats other than speed

Alright, I'm at home and I watched the trailer! My thoughts:

Dartrix-Nice name, interesting call. I can see it evolving into the leaked archer mon for the final evo.

Torracat-Good name. Really good design, glad it's still a quadruped, as now I'm having difficulty seeing it be able to evolve into the macho fire-from-the-belt thing that got leaked. Good to see Litten goes from a kitten to a tiger-like evolution.

Brionne-......interesting name. Wacky and pretty bad design imo, but of all the middle evos I can see it being like mermaid popplio quite a bit, much more than I can with Torracat or Dartrix.

Festival Plaza-seems like a cool concept, due to festival coins being able to be used in shops.
Poke Pelago-seems cool, especially since they can get me stones.
Ash-Greninja. Don't care for A-G, never have, never will tbh.

Top 5 middle evos:
1. charmeleon
2. grovyle
3. combusken
4. monferno
5. croconaw

Side Note, but I've finalized my decision on Great Days. It's good......for the first 25 seconds or so. The imagery throughout the theme is alright, but after the first 25 seconds or so, the musics gets SUPER upbeat and light. It just doesn't feel right at all.

This sounds fake but it's actually true.

Monster Rancher wasn't very well known as a game, but most that do know that the games were infamous for weird ass exclusive monster stuff like this.

I love Serperior...

It's Samurott the one I hate and I'm neutral on Emboar.

Strange, I'm getting an awful lot of Japanese followers lately.

Maybe my Boku no Hero Academia and Yuragi-sou reblogs have to do with it?

Or they are otaku that were attracted to your cover (just look at it).

I don't know, maybe these folks happen to like gaijin. Maybe following the official accounts of Oda and Saeki Shun has a bigger effect on it.

My take is I'm fine with Samurott but his prevos don't appeal to me as much.

Only Pokemon that gets an emotion anywhere close to hate from me is Cubchoo, though, and even that's not the right word or emotion for it. Mostly just a much milder form of the biological reaction one has to seeing "funny" videos of kids sneezing waterfalls of semi-solidified snot out of their noses.

The correct word for me would be "indifference," which scales in a vague, subconscious, possibly tiered sense of "most liked" to "least cared about."

Although if I click into "critic mode" and start trying to objectively organize Pokemon based off of fandom criteria then I might come off as though I hate a lot more Pokemon than I do. Judging things by fan standards like "redundant animal" and "inanimate object" or whatever makes a huge chunk of newer regions get a failing grade, including every starter since Gen 4 except the first two members of the Oshawott line. But that's completely different from my opinions on the Pokemon judged as individuals, especially since one of those repeated starters is one of my favorite Pokemon due to being my first starter.

Don't forget the official account of Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san's author.

He also happened to like my comment even though I happen to speak English. Maybe he's happy that his work is somewhat popular across the Western seas.

Regions where I like all the starters:
Sinnoh (the only region where I have a hard time picking a favorite)
Kanto

Regions where I like most of the starters:
Johto (Typhlosion and Feraligatr are amazing, but Meganium is more like "MEHganium" to me. Don't hate it, but don't like.
Kalos (Love Greninja, like Chesnuaght, don't like Delphox.)
Hoenn (I've lost all interest in Sceptile.)
Unova (I don't know what it is about Samurott's design, but it doesn't appeal to me.)

Regions where I like only one of the starters:
... Oh. :p

Unova's by far my least favorite when it comes to starters.

These starters are pretty decent so far.

However if the leaks are real two of them are going to go south pretty quickly in their final form.

I dunno, I'm highly critical of Serperior because I had a bad time with it

But I still think it looks better than the other starters gen 5 and is currently the most useful out of them

My thoughts on final evos for starters:
Kanto:
Charizard-love the guy
Blastoise-pretty cool
Venusaur-alright

Johto: All three are ehhhhh

Hoenn:
Swampert-in between alright and ehhh
Blaziken-love the guy
Sceptile-pretty cool

Sinnoh: Infernape is amazing, Torterra is pretty cool, and Empoleon is alright.

Unova: Serperior's by far the best starter of the region, emboar's okay, just can't find a reason at all to like any of Oshawott's line.

Kalos: Delphox is the only good thing about the Kalos starters.

These starters are pretty decent so far.

However if the leaks are real two of them are going to go south pretty quickly in their final form.
Yeah, things still aren't looking good for Litten and Rowlett with those leaks.

In Alola I like Rowlett's final form the best

But if he doesn't get great coverage I may just skip a starter this gen
