It's a very interesting idea, and it would've worked well.
I have a feeling that two factors caused the change for Giovanni as Gym 8.

It's a very interesting idea, and it would've worked well.
I have a feeling that two factors caused the change for Giovanni as Gym 8.
1) That Viridian would've been "too early." This... seems like a very apt point, when you look at the Rival fight on Route 23 at the equivalent point that would only have around Lv8 Pokemon, and would only have Viridian Forest blocking it from Pewter.

That could very well be the case, as shown even Blaine's design changed drastically over development before he was added to gym leader status. So Giovanni being leader could have certainly be to fix the gym pacing.

The idea that the samurai from the anime is the unused leader actually makes sense to. The forest is right there, so if they did do it as the first gym, he could get bugs from there. If it was him, then that's cool that he appeared in the anime.

The concept art for the games is also pretty cool to look at and offers a lot of potential insight.

Not sure. Just putting a bunch of the Legendaries into the Pokeball/Master Ball rotation might be a nice start. Solgaleo, Lunala, and Tapu Koko all have really nice designs. Type:Null also seems like a good choice for a Pokeball Pokemon, especially since it has some kind of secret it's hiding.

. . .Wait, if Ultra Beasts end up not being Pokemon, does that mean they could give the Pokemon series an Assist Trophy? LOL

Now all we need is for them to roll the info out. . .

On the bright side on that front, the Wii U was shown off way earlier than most other systems generally are, so it's not like they're making the same mistake twice leaving things to sit. If anything this gives them the opportunity to pile on the news in a huge glomp of awesome the way Pokemon waiting a little while to show off Sun and Moon did for them, so people will find it harder to forget about the NX when they do start showing it off.

Checked NeoGaf to see what their reaction was, and they instantly jumped to the conclusion that someone copy-pasted the date for the Wolf Link Amiibo and accidentally added a 7 to the end instead of a 6.

It sounds overly pessimistic to me, but I figure I may as well ask the more level minded people here whether something like that would be a possibility.

And there's a whole lot of comments on the thread there about "they wouldn't release on a Saturday" and "It's just a placeholder."

NeoGaf strikes me as being somewhat of a group of gift horse dentists, come to think of it.

Just watched the two episodes of Pokemon Generations.

Spoiler: Thoughts

First one was pretty neat. I liked the transition from the Gameboy-style to the animation, especially the part where Red's shadow pops up. Pikachu sounded a bit odd, but I like how it played a role in transitioning across the multiple generations of Pokemon. The Regigigas bit was pretty awesome. The Terminus Cave part was cool too with the whole Pikachu vs Noivern battle in the cave railway. I wished Zygarde did a bit more though. I thought Red was going to battle it in an attempt to catch it, but it ends as Zygarde rises from the ground. Oh well, at least we got to see the Complete Forme.

The second one was really good. I like Looker, and it was great to see him at his prime here. I felt a good music chill at the part when they played the Rocket Base theme as the police cars arrived at the Viridian gym. The break in was a pretty cool scene too. I love how the police used Pokemon for police tasks such as unlocking doors and breaking through walls. Even the ending was pretty interesting. They state that after two trainers defeated him for the Gym Badge, Giovanni left the gym, but as he leaves, he states that Team Rocket will live on as he puts on his hat. His outfit in that scene looked like his HG/SS self. The scene felt like a pretty good tie in to the generation 2 games.

I'll be away until the evening hours of Sunday, so I'm not going to be as active on this site for the weekend compared to how I usually am.

I feel like I remember reading something about someone asking a Nintendo employee about the reveal and the employee saying "not yet, but very soon," but I only read the thing once and it was never brought up again so it might have either been fake or I might have misread.

TBH, they are pretty damn handsome indeed. Sakurai especially, I strive to be at least that good looking by that age.
