For a "JK Simmons edition" there sure isn't a lot of JK Simmons in here. Let's fix that.

Shiny is Zero, from Megaman X.
Anyone who played MvC knows how much he's a projectile spammer.
Is male.
Has a shiny metal posterior.
10/10 Can't deny.
If Shiny is Zero, then Odyssey must be Sigma.

Recurring character? He's appeared in every mainline X game, so yeah.
Bad guy? Check.
Cape? It varies from game to game.

Mega Man Month confirmed?

If Odyssey is Black Shadow like someone said in one of the replies under the new hint, I will refuse to believe Black Shadow was more requested than Hades..

The cape thing makes guessing so hard for me lol. There's only so many caped villains I actually know about...

Episode 1 was kinda just there to be as a history lesson and a nostalgic trip

Episode 2 was the real meat and Looker was pretty fun. Plus I like the police aspect and how that Red disbanded Team Rocket the first time but nobody knows that he did it.

Hai.
Welcome to the club.

Oh, really!

*Sees stack of homework*

Going to have to catch them later...

Just finished Pride and Prejudice. Hot dang, that's a good book.
Many valuable lessons. Got my heart pounding.
Would recommend to any romantic who can withstand a thousand lines of dialogue.
That book has some awesome moments.

Then the desert of dialogue and old prose rears it's head. :p

Not a fan of the format of the episodes TBH. Wish they were actual episodes like Origins. And the Looker episode was so...un-Pokemon like?

Hope to see Gold in this series before it ends.

Pokémon Generations thoughts!

This episode is less of an episode and more of an introduction/celebration of the world of Pokémon.
Red catches Pikachu in Viridian Forest! How lucky, considering their rarity. :p Basically this short is just Red and that Pikachu battling Pokémon across different regions, going from Kanto to Kalos. They battle a Caterpie in Viridian Forest, some Wooper outside Ecruteak, a Vigoroth by the Weather Institute, Probopass at Snowpoint Temple, Volcarona in Relic Castle, and Noivern at I-forget-the-name-but-it's-the-place-you-catch-Zygarde (edit: Terminous Cave! Just remembered). Each time, a cameo legendary shows up.

Yeah, this one's mainly a nostalgic teaser of what's to come. I, for one, was incredibly happy to see the Weather Institute and Relic Castle, since they're some of my favorite game locations. I also have a ton more respect for Probopass now.

All in all I give it a "Wow, Pikachu sounds weird when it's saying something other than its name"/10.
Looker episode! :D

This one was awesome. It involves Looker leading a police investigation into Giovanni and Team Rocket. We see how the actions of Red in Origins left Team Rocket pretty much in shambles. A police sting took down their Game Corner operation, described as their main source of income, and how their Silph takeover was mysteriously stopped, meaning they don't know Red did it.

So yeah Looker was awesome, leading a SWAT Team into Viridian Gym, said to have been abandoned, only for the reveal to be that Giovanni held the gym illegally, and only gave badges to Red and Blue. So that's neat. Looker's partner here is a Growlithe instead of a Croagunk like in the games. I have a theory on this, as it's odd that there's so much attention to game detail and yet something like that is overlooked. My theory is that the Growlithe straight up ISN'T Looker's, but the Pokémon equivalent of a K-9 unit owned by the Kanto Police. Notice how Looker never takes it out of/puts it back in a Poké Ball.

Even still, I loved it. Give me more Looker, Generations!

I give it a "I thought for sure that captured smiling grunt was gonna bite into a cyanide pill and go Hail Hydra"/10.

IMO that's the reason episode two was so good. It's a side of the Pokémon world you don't get to see in the games. World building, yo.

Just saw both of the Generation episodes, a few thoughts:

As mentioned before, it seems the first episode was more set-up for the tone of Generations then anything hugely meaningful for itself. For what it does, it does its job well enough as you get a feel for each area and some of the Pokemon that appears in the short, so I don't have too many complaints there. Also, having the remixed trainer battle themes for each segment was a good touch as they made them feel more connected to the generation they were showcasing.

The second episode was more where we get an actual fleshed out plotline as it deals with Looker in his search to catch the elusive Giovanni. Overall, I think it was kind of nice, we get to see more of what Looker does as a character and a part of the police (which are usually ineffective in the games), and it was neat to see a SWAT team-esque plot where they raid the Gym. It's something that we can't really get to see out of the games usually, so having this element expanded on is great for us to better understand the world around our characters. Also, one thing I noticed was that it seems like the episode was playing up Looker being one step behind the protagonist because just like in Pt where Dawn/Lucas were always ahead of him in the Team Galactic plot, Red was ahead of him in the Team Rocket plot as he's too late to catch Giovanni at the Gym as Red (and Blue) had already defeated him and the Sliph co. plot was already dealt with.

Also, it looks like it's not canon to Origins, at least not these two episodes as Giovanni doesn't have a Heel Face Turn, Red has a Bulbasaur, Blue may have a Charizard, the battleground at the Viridian Gym is burnt, not caved in, and so on. Also, based on the Blue preview, we're probably going to have the starters get shifted around depending on the story they want to tell since Blue has as Blastoise in it, which shouldn't be possible with Red having a Bulbasaur. So the canon of these episodes will be a bit loose with those type of elements, it just depends on the story they want to tell.

I thought the Looker episode was alright, he already seems more competent than his game self so that's a plus.

Also it seems Giovanni and Team Rocket are gonna be around longer, in Origins he does disband TR, but he doesn't do so here. Gonna be a real interesting 18 episodes.

I agree. I prefer this and Origins so much over the actual anime... it's a shame they'll most likely never do a proper series like this...
Hopefully the PokeSpe manga turned in to an anime but that seems more like a pipe dream TBH.

I guess so but something was very off for me in that episode. Does this series take place in the same universe as Origins? Because if it does then it makes no sense for Giovanni to want to restart Team Rocket after he faced Red.

Still this series better have Gold man.
Wow, the pokemon fandom really cant be please, can they?
Going back to my point about Smash DLC, saying "you people can't be pleased!" hardly holds weight. Not that some people aren't like that but it's a sweeping generalization that some folks make often defending something in a passive aggressive manner.

If your post was in regards to what I said I only criticized the format of the show. I think all in all this series has the potential to be intriguing and a breath of fresh air relative to the main series anime.

I loved the 2nd episode.

The raid on the gym was interesting to watch. As proviously said, it's not something you get to see in the games or the anime much, so it was refreshing to see a darker take on the series.

And of course, Looker is always a plus.

The details such as Magnemite breaking the digital lock was nice. And the Police using Pokéballs instead of guns.

That scene where Arcanine makes a hole in the wall though... How do you enter through that messy molten concrete? :p

Quick impressions on the Generations episodes

-Neat transition from the original game into the actual animation
-Pikachu looks and sounds more like an actual mouse
-Looker wasn't annoying
-Infiltration Magnemite
-Arcanine literally melting a wall
-neat build up on the plot and lore from the games
-I feel like 4 minute episodes are too short...

I hate it how every time do something great like they make them too short.

They could've made Origins so much longer than just four episodes.

And I'm pretty sure they could easily find a way to make these last longer than couple of minutes.

It's a different universe. Red had started with a Charmander in Origins. He had a bulbasaur here.

Episode 1 was more like the opening credits for when they eventually combine it into a 90 minute special.

Episode 2 was a fascinating insight into how everyday (if serious) things like police raids work in Pokemon. Hacker Magnemite FTW

Well that makes sense.

As much as I love Red I want the other Pokemon protagonists to appear in these shorts as well.

I was browsing on the pokeani Tumblr feed and I found this interesting post that theorizes what the entire purpose of Ash going to school in the upcoming Sun and Moon anime could be based on what happens in Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.

Basically, Shadows of Almia starts out with the player character attending a Pokemon Ranger school, where they learn what it takes to become a Pokemon Ranger. This comprises the first arc of the game. Once the player graduates, they travel throughout the Almia region from there, undertaking various tasks as a new Pokemon Ranger such as helping Pokemon or taking down the evil team.

Perhaps the school that Ash attends will be a similar idea. He will learn about more battle tactics, the new Pokemon, and perhaps the other things one can do in the region. Once he graduates school, he'll be traveling the Alola region, where he will take on the Island Challenges from there. Another post on the same feed even theorized that the four-revealed Trial Captains are attending school because they are studying to become said roles. Maybe this school isn't just only for those that want to become trainers in Alola, but also those that want to become Trial Captains. If it's mostly the latter, maybe Ash attends school so that he can learn about Trial Captains, thus allowing him to prepare himself for what's to come.

Thoughts?
This could be very likely. At the very least, the plot will probably be similar as I don't see him staying at the school the whole series.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for generations:

Episode one was good. A cool view that we never get of red. It also means that un-like people thought, there is only one episode that has all those red scenes. Which is great as it means we can still get MCs from their games to rep storylines in their region.

Which means we could get a N episode! That be amazing, especially after he was portrayed poorly in the anime. So it was a good episode to have and mostly nostalgic as stated.

Now Episode Two, was pretty great! We get a whole new side to the games. Learn that Red isn't known as a hero by everyone and learn a bit more about Team Rocket. Giovanni seemed cool in the end there as well.

The use of pokemon as police gadgets was also brilliant. Loved the magemite part. But lastly what makes this great to me, is it could very well mean that this:
300px-Global_Police_agent.png

is actually Looker like people thought. Which if true, it's an amazing callback.

So really well done episodes, and I can't wait to see more!

Seems episode 1 is a non canon flavour thing wile the series proper takes place in the same universe as Origins. Ep 1 Red has a Bulbasaur but we see Blue/Green using Blastoise in the trailer.

I enjoyed the two Pokemon Generations episodes out so far.

I always imagined Pikachu's "real" call to have more of a sparking sound to it like the way, say, Electivire sounds, with the pixelated *pkchoo* being translated into more of an electrical noise, but then I guess something like that might not be cutesy enough for most people to feel fits him and it's nice to see him saying something other than his name at all.

Episode 2 has a nice demonstration of how overpowered Pokemon are with that raid. It kinda begs the question of why you would use Arcanine to break down a wall if it'll be too melted to go through when you're done, though.

It's that reason I have my "bloodline" of Chus that date back to the first game I beat on my own; fire red.
I still need to wrap up that third run for Kalos to get that region's descendant called for before Gen 7....

Which is an absolute shame that it overshadows Raichu, which is far better Pokemon but gets little love. Like the Light Ball. Why doesn't it still have the Light Ball?!

I'm not bitter or anything.
