I'm getting some serious Yo-kai Watch vibes from the newest Pokemon anime. And I don't like it.

"Pokémon's anime isn't good anymore. Yokai Watch is much better."
"I don't like the new Pokémon anime. It's too much like Yokai Watch."

I suppose it is kind of ironic how Yokai Watch used to be continuously put down on borrowing ideas from Pokemon (Most particularly from western Pokemon fans) and now apparently Pokemon itself is taking some cues from Yokai Watch.

It all comes together

But I suppose it shouldn't really be that surprising since unlike certain fans, the companies seem to be in pretty friendly terms with each other.

Aren't those two different thoughts that can exist?

Pokemon could be better by better utilizing its original elements to make a better story and characters instead of going to a comedic route that makes it closer to YW for the sake of competing.

At least, I base my opinion according to the CoroCoro leak.

Well Pokemon Company just had to deal with several years of their local population going "You suck, I have something BETTER now!"

"If you can't beat them, copy what they're doing and hope it works" is never a very sound strategy, but I can still see why they're pursuing it.

And to be honest, there were hints that they were going to try to win back that crowd with similarities anyway. I mean, they added a ghost with an electronic device that serves as your guide. It's kind of hard to not notice that if you're seen anything of Yo-Kai Watch.

Hopefully if it gets too blatant they'll go back to having their own identity next generation.

A Pokemon x Yokai Watch crossover sounds pretty interesting.

I wouldn't mind seeing Level-5 and the Pokemon company collaborating for a game or movie one day.

That's blatantly wrong.

Also assuming Rockruff's secret is the same as the starters, that means Day and Night Starter evos...

Heck YKW2 is implementing different versions....WITH version exclusives AND trading being added...

Well it borrows the main concept and basic elements of monster collecting games, but everything else are different ideas.

But I will continue this argument later after I'm done with this art class right now. This is not my complete opinion right now.

Also "generic" seems like a really weird complaint for Day Form.

No one complains about being a generic rat or being a generic crab or whatever.

I get the feeling the disappointment stems from people letting their fantasies about Rockruff run far too wild and then predictably not having the actual thing live up to it.

Like, I've had to listen to people saying "We need a REAL wolf!" for over a gen now. Well, now we got two in one. Normal wolf and werewolf, for your wolfy needs.

If this gen ends up having a dolphin Pokemon I bet people are going to be upset over that, too.

We moved from "pokeball->upside-down pokeball" and "bird->big bird->bigger bird with hair" a long time ago
Yet Rockruff's day evo looks something from Gen 2 at best when Rockruff itself definitely looks like a Gen 7 mon
Basically, what I'm saying is that Day!Rockruff just feels out of place

1) It actually looks like a continuation and evolution of Rockruff's design. Not an Eeveelution situation of "ehhh it's close enough to a dog/fox/cat thing they can be related."
2) It actually looks like it's rock type.
3) It's got that "large and in charge" kind of build I thought we'd see. Probably because it's in tune with the likes of Growlith and Lillipup.
But I mean... even taking these points to the "werewolf" look.

Iunno the real evolutions feel a lot more like standalone pokemon when you look at them side by side with Rockruff.

I didn't make it, someone posted it to 4chan, I just found it funny/true and posted it. So your probably good to put it on.

I honestly think the expansion form does resemble Gladion, just in a physical strength way. It's not as close as the other, but it might still be what they are going for.

Today I beat the Pokemon League , did the team Rocket post-game missions, and caught Mewtwo.
This playthrough is essentially over at this point... I quite enjoyed it. Next up is Emerald, which I'll start tomorrow, then HeartGold (again), then Y, and then Alpha Sapphire.*
*=if I don't finish these playthroughs by the time Sun and Moon come out, I'll delay them until after I beat Sun.

A clam that evolves into one of two fish...
A pigeon that evolves into a pheasant...
A robin that evolves into a falcon...
A sparrow hawk thing that evolves into a heron hawk thing...
And a piranha that evolves into a shark...

A dog evolving into a wolf makes way more sense than all of these...
