I find it hilarious you're making an assumption about me making an assumption about you because I want to know your criteria. Not to mention I think my Iphone example might count in which people flock to the newest ones because they're new. My sister's also guilty of this

I already mentioned my criteria. I'll spell it out again.

Find me an example of something that was announced last and did better than it's competitiors. But then, be able to explain to me WHY being released later caused it to do better than the competition. And then show me tangible evidence of how Nintendo is in that same position for that to happen.

For the record, I can think of an example myself, though I do not believe Nintendo is in the same position as that example.

iPhones are not competitors to each other so no, that does not count. People buying the latest iPhone is upgrading a product they have, not making a choice between competing products.

You're judging the NX by the Wii U's fate. This is exactly the same thing a lot of people did the instant it was revealed, and in both cases the decision was preemptively made that the NX is set up for failure.

I never said the NX was doomed to fail.

I said you are pre-emptive to try and tell me it wouldn't, and that there is no reason for me to think that "Nintendo will be much better when the NX is revealed" (my original point was not about the NX, I'm dissatisfied with Nintendo in general right now).

Logically, there is no reason for me to believe Nintendo will do better. Their latest console flopped. Most of their games of late have been soulless and dry, even in franchises I care about (so it's not a case of me just being like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT POKÉMON" for example). This is continuing with every new announcement so far, almost.

Not to mention their practices towards fan-made content.

Out of the things Nintendo has been doing of late, 10% of it has satisfied me, the rest has not, if not flat out made me mad at them (the fan-content take downs). Most of the things that dissatisfy me, have been having the same effect on a large amount of people too, so it's not just me, meaning it's a general impression people have right now.

Why should I be expected to be optimistic during a time like this?

I was back at E3 but it's gotten worse since then and my patience is gone. Nintendo has to REALLY blow me away with the NX or else my sheer fatigue with Nintendo at this point will cause me to literally feel nothing at the NX reveal.

I see these groups constantly belittling One Piece despite all the success it gets and its literal importance to One Piece. They can hate it for the "ugly cartoony" art style or for being too childish, but they are blind as **** if they think it's overrated or popular for no real reason than Jump riding on its ****. People say the gaming community is toxic, well the anime community begs to flipping differ than a pit bull on hives.

It's the same thing that's going on with Boku no Hero Academia. These fans dismiss it for being generic (even though it hardly suffers from the same problem as Black Clover) or not the legendary shonen they grew up with. One guy even said a fan should kill himself just because he likes it. And don't get me started on the fans that troll just to piss off One Piece fans just to make themselves look good. There's no coincidence that this person happens to be a HxH fan.

There's a reason why these stereotypes of anime fans or "weaboos" exist. Because apparently nothing can replace the one thing you always loved since your early childhood while everything new or overrated is ****.

Funny you brought up Xbox One and PS4, because that was my example!

PS4 had most of it's news released the last out of it's competition (talking about the initial reveals here). Nintendo announced most of the stuff about the Wii U way early, and it wasn't really impressing anyone. Xbox One had it's reveal right before Sony, and they did a LOT wrong. Sony took advantage of this, and made changes to their script in accordance with this, being able to not only impress with their content, but also play to the emotions of gamers upset with Microsoft by taking direct jabs at them.

This may not have been calculated well in advance by Sony, but it is a situation where going last worked out. However, being last does not automatically mean you will do well, Sony sort of got lucky (and to be fair, their initial presentations for the PS4 were just extremely strong in their own right where I think they would have "won" anyway). I do not think Nintendo is in a position like this though, I don't think being last will make a difference to them, it's either they have a solid reveal and at LEAST win back more of the core fans (hopefully they can do more than that though), or they don't do well at all.

I never said the NX was doomed to fail.

I said you are pre-emptive to try and tell me it wouldn't, and that there is no reason for me to think that "Nintendo will be much better when the NX is revealed" (my original point was not about the NX, I'm dissatisfied with Nintendo in general right now).

Logically, there is no reason for me to believe Nintendo will do better. Their latest console flopped. Most of their games of late have been soulless and dry, even in franchises I care about (so it's not a case of me just being like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT POKÉMON" for example). This is continuing with every new announcement so far, almost.

Not to mention their practices towards fan-made content.

Out of the things Nintendo has been doing of late, 10% of it has satisfied me, the rest has not, if not flat out made me mad at them (the fan-content take downs). Most of the things that dissatisfy me, have been having the same effect on a large amount of people too, so it's not just me, meaning it's a general impression people have right now.

Why should I be expected to be optimistic during a time like this?

I was back at E3 but it's gotten worse since then and my patience is gone. Nintendo has to REALLY blow me away with the NX or else my sheer fatigue with Nintendo at this point will cause me to literally feel nothing at the NX reveal.

Why do I have reasons to think the NX will do better?

Well for one thing Nintendo has acknowledged several of the problems with the last console launch they had, implying they intend to fix those problems.

As for the shoddy game quality, I assume all the A-grade projects were moved to the NX and anything left behind was either a pet project they wanted to finish at all costs or various degrees of filler. That may be speculation on my part, but combined with the drought it seems entirely likely.

Fan content has diddly squat to do with the content Nintendo releases or the fate of the NX. I know you're about to say "That's the point, I'm just disappointed in them in general," but if you're upset enough about the situation then it might color your impression of everything else they do despite it not having anything to do with it.

And yes, everyone else shares your opinion. I know. I'm utterly sick of the sentiment said opinion gives. I just want to enjoy my time waiting for the NX and everyone is too disappointed in Nintendo to let me. That's why I provide counterarguments. In the vain hope that someone, somewhere out there will see the world a little brighter and have some level of hype.

Why do I have reasons to think the NX will do better?

Well for one thing Nintendo has acknowledged several of the problems with the last console launch they had, implying they intend to fix those problems.

As for the shoddy game quality, I assume all the A-grade projects were moved to the NX and anything left behind was either a pet project they wanted to finish at all costs or various degrees of filler. That may be speculation on my part, but combined with the drought it seems entirely likely.

Fan content has diddly squat to do with the content Nintendo releases or the fate of the NX. I know you're about to say "That's the point, I'm just disappointed in them in general," but if you're upset enough about the situation then it might color your impression of everything else they do despite it not having anything to do with it.

And yes, everyone else shares your opinion. I know. I'm utterly sick of it. I just want to enjoy my time waiting for the NX and everyone is too disappointed in Nintendo to let me. That's why I provide counterarguments. In the vain hope that someone, somewhere out there will see the world a little brighter and have some level of hype.

I personally think your time would be better spent finding something more interesting and actually hype worthy to be excited about until the NX reveal rolls around, rather than trying to argue with people and "convert them to the NX church" to make them be hyped for something you yourself know isn't that hypeworthy right now based on objective reasoning.

Just my advice. I don't argue for "WHY YOU SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT ROSALINA'S NEXT APPEARANCE REGARDLESS OF YOUR BACKGROUND" because I know Rosalina isn't appearing in anything super exciting right now. I try to just enjoy what I got, if I can. It's not as big a topic obviously, but it's a similar situation.

Their latest console flopped. Most of their games of late have been soulless and dry, even in franchises I care about (so it's not a case of me just being like "I DON'T CARE ABOUT POKÉMON" for example). This is continuing with every new announcement so far, almost.

Honestly I wouldn't tackle this part, but you always word your posts in ways that make your opinions sound like fact.

Pikmin 3 was an amazing game, Mario Kart 8 was the best one since Double Dash, Mario 3D world is one of the best Mario games ever, Smash 4 is my favorite in the franchise, Xenoblade X is one of my favorite games of all time etc etc. This isn't even mentioning the 3DS.

What interesting thing? The Playstation with one Ratchet and Clank game based off of a movie and paid internet? The XBOX with LOL and also paid internet? The indie game I've been following that people also won't stop complaining about like it killed their dog?

There's nothing FOR me. The video game industry has nothing left worth actively following that people aren't moaning about.

I'm not trying to "convert them to the church" so much as just get people to stop overreacting about everything and complaining about things we don't even know about.

To be honest im not sure if Nintendo still plans on revealing the NX this year. Their plans could have changed. For all i know they would have revealed the NX in E3 if not the fact that it "wasn't ready to be shown" or something.

Then again i have been pessimistic lately (up to the point of beign unreasonable) so don't mind my thoughts on this subject.
