Good morning guys.
I found a mod that replaces the "Game!" in Smash 4 with "Retired!"
I need it.
Didn't Fates also have alot of new people, when it comes to voice acting in general?

As for Hinoka, I dunno her raspy voice fits her, she is a bit tomboyish afterall imo and doesn't her voice actor also voice Selkie in this game?
and Peri.
don't forget about Peri.
Personally I don't have an issue with the voices in this game, save for a couple of characters.

Huh, localisation again?

Shovel Knight's changes are pretty minimal though, as you pretty much have to be paying attention to actually notice them, not to mention these don't take anything away from the gameplay or the story.

I'm not exactly fond of changes which affect the story or gameplay. In my opinion, that what we should be looking for before decrying a change as censorship.

Did TMS#FE's dress changes affect the way you look at the character? (From what I've heard, it slightly reduces the impact of some character development, but nothing major, so it didn't deserve the uproar.)

Fates's localisation was messier. I don't like any change that affects the game significantly, so Fates's localisation did annoy me a bit. I don't think those people were wrong to complain about it, because I'd rather game buyers decide for themselves whether they like the feature or not, rather than the developer taking these decisions themselves. (Though, it considering it wasn't the main point of the game, just a side mode, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker.)

Well, there's my rant on the topic.

I'm still busy with my Nohr run, so I don't really have a verdict yet on the Nohr characters :)

Really my biggest complaint is that there's no Japanese VA option... So I can't have Niles voiced by Dio Brando.

Okay well I got my copy of birthright in the mail.

But as for my copy of Bravely Second. . .well instead they sent me an SD card. Good job Best Buy

Good ol' retail, eh?

Ugh, I hope something bad doesn't happen with my purchase from a few weeks back.

Still waiting for the CDs I imported from Japan...

Online purchases are great and all, but sometimes they don't go well. =/

You can't ignore that the scene was made sillier than it should and changing everything to reflect "American modeling" is only sugarcoating what gravure is all about. When you throw urban signs and get praises for being a rebellious urban girl instead of doing a "real" photoshop, then you know they didn't even try. Just the concept of her being embarrassed to wear this over a bikini is kind of what makes it less impactful.

Thinking about the NX leak again. . .

The plural detachable controllers possibility sounds like both a good thing and a bad thing.

The bad thing is that I'm not sure how playing a game using that kind of multiplayer is going to be comfortable using half of a control set, but I guess we'll see.

But there's a definite situation where I see having two built on controllers helping. There have in fact been multiple times where I've been on my 3DS or Wii U and been asked, "Can I play this with you?" But I couldn't, because the other person didn't have a second copy of the game or because I didn't have a second controller. If it wasn't simply a misinterpretation and there were TWO detachable controllers, it would avoid that issue.

I can see the NX having a use for parents who want to play together with their kids but don't have the desire to actually pick up another control setup just for themselves. Not sure how big that niche is, but it would solve an existing problem. It could also give people the opportunity to play games with their friends that wouldn't normally function without two individual copies of the game, thus exposing someone to a game they wouldn't have otherwise tried and potentially even getting them to go out and buy it.

The weirdest thing about the leak actually has some kind of reasonable applications.

My only point of contention about the situation with Fates skin-shipping is that they could have just had a toggle in the options menu for it, or at least upon starting the game, if the issue with it was "opening more options for a wider demographic". Because they didn't actually open options, they just decided what everyone in the East or West should want and locked everyone in both regions to a specific version of the relationship system in Fates.

They should have had an option for how it is in the Japanese version, for how it currently is locked to in the English version, or an option to turn it off completely (this way, people could build supports and stuff with the "Invite Ally/Bond" thing, but wouldn't have to actually experience the animations or face rubbing). And it should be like that in all regional versions of the game.

People will say "that's too hard", but I've seen plenty of games have options to turn off cursing, having differing levels of blood/gore effects that you can set within the options menu of a game, and even options for censoring/uncensoring suggestive material. So I think there is no excuse for how Fates locked it to a specific setting by region.

It's not a big deal to me personally, but it's more about the principal of the matter. Nintendo games just have an uncanny ability to have a pathetic amount of options for a player as of late, and the romance stuff in Fates is another example of it, even if the reasoning is different.

On the subject of more localization, Atlus through it was a good idea to add urban slang to TMS as well to be more hip. Trust me when I say that it comes off as cringe worthy instead of funny.

The Archer in the Daitama TV Station dungeon's main gimmick is calling people "bruh" or being a musician. And don't get me started on Maiko "trying to be hip with her greeting" to Itsuki on the day of the event. "Yo home slice, what's groovin'?"

It's like they were trying to make her more annoying than she already was.

That was my point pretty much. Let the player decide whether they like it or not. Restricting player choice is obviously going to invite complaints.

I may be in the minority, but I ****ing hate everything about Maiko. From her inherent childish behavior at times to sounding like a high little girl when she's tipsy. It really makes me wonder how the characters really put up with her.

Maiko is eh for me. Sure there's the "homeslice" text and her "under the weather" moments. Plus, the scenes that focus on her cleavage do tend to be annoying, but I don't really mind her.

Now Barry ****ing Goodman, he is definitely the worst character in the game. Yes, I get that he's supposed to be satire of the fat, loud, anime-loving loser. But that still doesn't excuse him acting borderline obnoxious for most of the game and praising Mamori like the creepy lolicon he is. It really baffles me how such a character was well beloved in Japan.

I still think they should've done a more straightforward SMTxFE crossover than the shiny bubbly J-pop game that barely has any relation with either of the series in terms of thematic save for some references here and there.

I mean, both series are fantasy with plenty of fantastical and mythological references. They could have explored those themes further and it would've made a more interesting and less alienating title for both SMT and FE fans.

Why J-pop? Why idols? It just doesn't make any sense thematically and the game as a whole is just a lot of wasted potential, which could've been one of the highlights of the Wii U.

With Fates, I'm still in the boat that most of what they took out shouldn't have been there in the first place. But I'm not apart of the core demographic Fates/modern Fire Emblem is trying to appeal to either.

@ShovelKnight: Would guess the moving grass might be added in a future update if asked for. Unlike Contra for the NES vs. Famicom, there's no end-all-be-all.

Ugh, I hope something bad doesn't happen with my purchase from a few weeks back.

Still waiting on Xenoblade?

I wouldn't worry too much, at least in regards to package protection. I haven't had one package from Japan that was poorly protected in my 6 years of importing. Just yesterday I got some FDS games in the mail and they were triple wrapped with bubble wrap.

Not sure how long it takes for packages to get to Europe, but I've gotten new CDs such as FE9/10/13/14's the day after they came out in Japan. Most of my imports, including ones I use forwarding services for, only take about 4-6 days.

Maybe the developers already had the J-pop based game in mind when they started out, but they feared that it may be too niche of a game idea, so they tried adding SMTxFE to it, to increase its appeal?

EDIT: Ignore, see the next post. >_>

Troubled production and other factors got in the way from them doing that real crossover. They thought the game looked too similar to Fire Emblem when they made SMT x FE a strategy game during development and wanted to do something that shows the strength of Atlus. They literally tossed the idea away six months after they started development on the project. One idea was to have a more modern day RPG and J-Pop came to mind as something new that no one ever did before. Thus Kowa****ai was born.

In the end of the day, they should have asked for help or stuck with the original idea instead of alienating so much fans. While I may like the current idea, it definitely suffered from less positive press and sales thanks to alienating these two fandoms (plus censorship). I doubt they would ever take the risk again or even consider making a sequel after everything that happened.

Okay so I go to best buy to exchange the card for Bravely Second which is about a 15 minute drive. The receipt straight up says you can.

Legitimately.
Has ANY of these directly caused a change?
Rarely. Change.org barely does **** as a petition even if it gets a lot of attention.

Nintendo already gave fans a reason why they are never having region free consoles in response to one petition against region lock. While petitions about cancelling games, especially Federation Farce, are bound to be ignored since they've already invested money into making the project.

Well this happened...
And now we return to your daily dose of Bleach fanbase denial.

https://www.change.org/p/shonen-jump-stop-the-canceling-of-the-bleach-manga

Just face it, Kubo was already given a chance more than enough times and the magazine editors had enough of him. Accept that Bleach is going to end and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
Did Bleach really get canned by JUMP? From the sound of it it seems like Kubo just wanted it to end.

Though the rush through all of this just reminds me of KHR's **** ending.

Bleach had been in the Bottom 5 for years and color pages were happening less by the year. So we can say that Kubo was indeed rushed to end the series when there is so many unanswered questions and few characters were there to do nothing (especially two certain Espada). And we never got a chance to see Bankai from all of the captains and lieutenants.

Most WSJ endings always had a history of being rushed to a bad ending due to low ratings. Shaman King, Medaka Box (which they were considered lucky), Sket Dance, and Beelzebub's comes to mind. Assassination Classroom and Kuroko ended on their own accord and felt natural. Naruto on the other hand, people were hung up on Orochimaru's whereabouts and the random pairings that resulted in the children we saw in that chapter (plus Fat Anko).

I know the Melee community like everything to be as Melee-like as possible but honestly.

The Melee announcer doesn't sound that great. Really awkward and stilted. It doesn't sound like he improved.

To be fair, Anko was always crazy for them dumplings and she was going to gain weight sooner or later.

I felt they only got salty because what used to be the hottest Naruto jonin is now a "pudgy old school teacher".

I still miss that show...
Same.

Maybe if it still aired, the manga would have been safe from cancellation. But alas, lack of interest always the reason why the good things go bad to where editors kick it out.

Still pretty salty that Kumagawa only appeared twice in the second Medaka Box season. He's literally the reason why I stuck with the manga to the end.

This reminds me, didn't Naruto x Sakura shippers start a petition to ban Naruto in America (or something like that) because Naruto ended up with Hinata?
