To me, Level 5 is the studio everyone praises, but I can't be bothered to try their stuff out. Lady Layton looks ****ing adorable though
I enjoyed Yo-Kai Watch well enough. It feels like it could use some polish, but seeing as it's the first game in the series I can understand why it might not be perfected yet.
The battle system is a bit. . .peculiar. Like if Triple and Rotation Battles from Pokemon had a baby and that baby did all of it's moves without your permission except for a Final Smash. It's like it's sort of running on autopilot but at the same time you can't look away from the screen because you have no idea when you'll need to switch someone out or heal them and those Final Smashes are kind of necessary. That and if you're trying to recruit a Yo-Kai you can up the RNG chances for getting their Medal slightly by
bribing befriending them with food.
I'm not sure how to describe it. The demo isn't exactly the most mind blowing, but I ended up getting hooked on the full game enough that I played all the way through the postgame and still poked around for a few things afterwards.
Oh, they made White Knight Chronicles too, didn't they? . . .Mostly fun, but there's a few obvious flaws like slow movement speed and the fact that you can't make it up a foot tall ledge because you can't jump. Sometimes after reaching certain points in the story enemy levels in early areas will jarringly jump up in order to match your progress. There's also quite a bit of pretty noticeable pop-in. The big draw for it is clearly the titular gimmick, the massive White Knight magical armor and other armors like it. They take a while to charge so a lot of the time you'll be saving the ability to use it for later, but if you need to do a ton of damage on something and have enough room to use it then the White Knight is your best and oftentimes only chance to survive.
Overall, though, since you can't buy WKC on Nintendo consoles I say pick up Xenoblade if you can. Or heck, pick up Xenoblade even if you do have a PS3. I feel like Xenoblade has a bit of a problem with skimpy female armor sets that WKC for the most part doesn't have, but so many other things are just a straight up improvement over WKC. That isn't to say that WKC doesn't do some things better than Xenoblade, but they're the super in-depth sort of things like weapon classes and custom combos that a filthy casual like me is going to touch once and never use again. That and there's the question of "can you run away from sight-aggro enemies that have locked onto you before they kill you?" In White Knight Chronicles the answer is either "no" or "sure, but not before they hit you three dozen times as you slowly crawl away." In Xenoblade, the answer is usually, "yes man now GUN IT!"
