This may have been a bit off the mark.
If there's two things I've seen people blindly throw all caution to the wind with before the chickens have had time to hatch, it's games made by people who aren't working at major established companies and Smash character support bandwagons.
And with Beck they got married and had a baby, but that was pretty far from the most common example of the latter so eh.
With normal companies people express caution with every game and Nintendo games in particular seem to have a fandom philosophy that their games can't turn out to be anything BUT bad, but send in a new guy with a company not really seen on the scene before and people will take anything they say as perfection without even questioning a thing.
There's a certain schadenfreude to watching the collective's blind faith fall backwards and crush itself considering the double standards floating around, although it's dampened a bit by the revelation that decent people blew actual money on things like this and in some cases are still getting ripped off.
