Characters in Overwatch for the most part can go toe to toe with each other compared to something like Smash where you'll be hard pressed to find a Skilled Roy that could beat a Fox. It's not like Widowmaker can't fight a 76, she just doesn't contribute as much as 76

So I fired up Stardew Valley on a lark and bam, three hours disappeared.

Don't know if I'll play it frequently, got other games to scratch it's niche itch, but hey, it's already beating a movie ticket pound for pound.

So, to all you Overwatch players on this thread, I'm curious: how many characters do you all use? Which characters are they?

Lucio's been my go-to since he offers a streamlined experience for me. "Don't get hit" and "Stay around your team" are basically everyone's jobs already and that's almost all he has to do to be appreciated.

When I'm not running him, I fool around with D.Va and Mei (side note, "sorry, sorry, sorry" is the best taunt ever) but my success with them remains mixed. I run a decent Mercy, or so I'm told, but I prefer a more active support role, hence Lucio.

I'm pretty garbage at actual offense, though. I've mostly tried McCree, Reaper, Sombra and been garbage with each. Feel like I could do better with 76 but haven't really given it time.

Well, let's be honest most criticism at Starfox Zero isn't really what I'd call criticism, its people basically saying, this game isn't what I wanted therefore its bad, is what I saw from it.

Which if you don't like the game, that's completely fine, but don't go acting like a game that has a control scheme that works just as the Designers intended, but you just don't enjoy playing with that scheme, then the problem isn't the game, its you. It just means the game isn't for you.

Really all the Starfox Zero backlash did for was basically make it abundantly clear to me that demo of games need to be easily accessible, so those that will enjoy game can get it and give proper constructive criticism and those who get the demo and don't enjoy the game, can skip it and go play a game they will enjoy.

Also what interview was this? Cause do remember most journalistic sites are not neutral and are trying to get you to side with them, if they don't just have a transcript of the interview just put straight up on the site.

I mean, when virtually every review mentions the controls as a negative, I think that's a good sign that it's not an unfair criticism.

I guess I get a bit too used to greeting hyperbole with hyperbole in my head and let it slip out not thinking. That was hypocritical and I apologize. Opinions can't really be accurate or inaccurate by any measure because they're subjective and clouded by emotion.


The "Top 10 Games I Enjoyed The Least Out Of What I Played In 2016" or "The Top 10 Games I Played That Least Met My Specific Personal Criteria For What I Think Makes A Game Good Or Bad In 2016" would be the proper name for an analytical list like that. "Top 10 Worst Games Of 2016" has the easy potential to slip into hyperbole both due to people getting too worked up about their opinions and actually thinking they're the worst even compared to all games they've never played and because plenty of people use the opinions of others to form their own and would take it at face value without a second thought. If it says "Top 10 Worst Games Of 2016," then I end up taking that at face value and pointing out why that isn't the case, because it's not quiiite the most accurate phrase for what's actually being said. And hyperbole is a bit fun to pick a part even if I'm hypocritical and idiotic enough to slip into it myself.

They just simplify it down to "Worst games in 2016" because:

"The Top 10 Games I Played That Least Met My Specific Personal Criteria For What I Think Makes A Game Good Or Bad In 2016"

That's more than a mouthful and wouldn't attract people to the video because short, snappy titles are what people want.

At most it should be "Worst games I played in 2016" or "Games I didn't enjoy in 2016". I think the latter is probably the most ideal really because it doesn't have connotations of being inherently bad because some people can simply not enjoy stuff that's good.

It wasn't as bad as I put it since my memory skewed it a bit, but the logic still isn't the most helpful.

Basically the quote implies he's blaming it on the audience having expectations instead of the fact that it just might not have synced with people. Deflecting the source of the problem isn't really helpful in terms of figuring out how to make future games better.

And I absolutely believe that the problem with Starfox is mine rather than the game's. I'm just trash with motion controls and I always have been. I'm surprised I actually left the motion controls on with Splatoon when I checked, although even there I'm using the stick at the exact same time.

Somehow this show made me like ice skating and I didn't even have any idea of what it was like besides being skating on ice. From the scenes I've watched, they've all been beautiful.
Also, the tone is way more laid back than what I thought with all the distorted anatomy and the not-so-serious characters. And I love Victor even if he is kind of a **** sometimes.

I find it funny people hated vic for "gat shaming" when he stopped telling him to lose weight after he lost enough weight to skate while people love Russian Yuri even though he keeps calling Yuuri a pig

And the blame for the game getting dumped on so hard can almost squarely be laid at the controls' feet. Everything else seems to suggest an average-to-good game, but the controls made it a chore to play.
