At least Zero wasn't terrible.

I'm glad Miyamoto still sees potential in the series. Hope the next entry does well.

(We have to understand too that a game really shouldn't exist if it doesn't do something new. It's not like games are one-time play or anything.)
Zero really needs a Switch port since it'll fix those control issues

I know that it's built for the Wii U in mind but people don't give a ****. They either want a Star Fox game that controls like the older ones or go for the 64 3DS remake where it had WAY better gyro controls

>make a terrible game that also doubles as a cheap imitation of something better

"I wish this franchise was more popular"

Zero was a million times better than the game before it.

Just saying.

That's not exactly a flattering comparison.
I know. But Command was downright abysmal.

So Zero was a bit of a step up for me (thst and i enjoyed a lot about it). Then again I don't think the Star Fox series can survive in today's market no matter what it does.

No, they just need to make a solid game that can appeal to alot of people on a console that sells well. Zero has none of those traits.

I know there was some discussion a few days ago about Plumeria being an underwhelming character in the S/M games, so that made me think of a question to ask everyone here:

What is everyone's opinion about Faba and his role in the story?

Make sure you put your answer in the spoilers tag just in case.
Faba was okay.

He's near the bottom tier for me because I feel he was just a less interesting Colress who ultimately doesn't do much. Whether Stars is a sequel or 3rd version, I hope he gets a bit more of exposure.

Plumeria was far more wasted imo, you could remove her character and replace it with a generic grunt and there'd barely be a difference other than the game missing a Poison specialist.

Wicke also has a similar issue, there is a bit more intrigue with her since she's rather morally ambiguous (yes she's nice to Lillie and Gladion, but she also didn't directly oppose Lusamine either).

I disagree.

Star Fox is an on rail arcade shooter. The genre is dead and the series doesn't have any star power anymore. Unless you change everything about it it'll die, but that will win the ire of Star Fox fans and many people in general

No win situation. I believe that's why it was canned for a while. The "can't think of a way to make it interesting" thing was about getting it to sell in the first place.

Star Fox 64 is a popular game. It can be done.
The 90s were a different time.

This isn't even a joke, rail shooters are one of those genres that are just a niche nowadays. And even then the more popular ones are just Bullet Hell these days.

...

Actually let Nintendo make a bullet hell Star Fox and see where that gets it.

It's also missing Canada where
Spring: April & May
Summer: June & July
Autumn: August & September
Winter: October, November, December, January, February and March.
Nah dude. I live in Canada and it's hardly Winter in November let alone October anymore. Which I guess is a good thing because for the most part every season is the way it should be.

Though we do tend to have extended Winter's sometimes around March, April, and sometimes even May when the weather goes from being really cold to really hot to really cold again.

So that's why they made the last minute decision to make Chibi Robo a platformer?

I guess not even the Amiibo was enough to convince actual profit.

The less we talk about Star Fox Command, the better.

No one should remember the laughably bad, fanfiction tier writing from that game.

So.....was this pointed out or joked about early on when Mimikyu was first shown?
Mimikyu. It's pronounced like mimic and you, right? Mi-mic-yu. Mi-mic-you right?

Add a tea after yu.....Mi-mic-yu-tea. Say all that without any pauses. Sound familiar?

I've never owned the game, but I've seen playthroughs...and the story writing is pretty trainwrecky, but in that regard I love how over the top the writing is

but yeah, if I ever play a Star Fox game, it'll probably be 64 or Assault. 64 because I heard it's the most well-made, and Assault because I own a gamecube and it looks like fun.

I think Star Fox as an IP has the capacity to do at least slightly better, in some way. Given the right marketing, the right writers, the right story. . .

Whether or not the gameplay genre still works is another argument entirely, but the universe is at least interesting and inoffensive enough that it's possible it could have something else done with it. After all, if it "doesn't work anymore," then what do you have to lose by risking a fandom scorned? And if there IS a big enough risk from alienating the fandom, then perhaps there's still something to the genre after all and it just needs a kick to the seat of the pants that doesn't involve a console gimmick. Perhaps there's something to be looked for in terms of innovation after all, just not something that has been found yet. Something to update the genre to modern standards or some such.

Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic, but Star Fox doesn't feel like a series that's inherently broken so much as something that's waiting for the right thing to be done to it. The characters are there, the world is there. . .it just needs the right thing to use it.

I honestly think Nintendo needs to can Star Fox for the time being. Like what Swamp Sensei Swamp Sensei said it's a game that pretty much sold like peanuts. We see this a lot of different times where a series doesn't do well and Niny decides to send said series to the shadow realm back burner.

I don't see why Star Fox deserves special treatment over all the other series that happened to bust with one particular game. Even with the game being on the Wii U it still did really poorly with Xenoblade X having double Star Fox Zero sales. Star Fox should get it's day in the future but honestly let it sleep for a good 5-7 years where a new approach can be made and a new opportunity for the series to succeed exists.

If anything it's time for F-Zero to get it's comeback. The series has been gone long enough and with all the time that has passed it's time Nintendo gives the series another go and see how it does. Other series should also be given a chance as well to make a comeback over Starfox. Here's looking at you Golden Sun, Advance Wars, Startropics.
Well I did say I was joking.
Darn you sarcasm.

Come on, tell me that you find the idea of Fox having a blue furred child cool.
Crickey, just no.

No matter how many times you show me that ending, I will never like Marcus or any character from Command for that matter (even Kursed Krystal).

Yeah, Star Fox is driven in a bit of a rough corner as to where to go from here. Either it needs to adapt to the current gaming climate, refine what it was good with originally, or try something new.

And a top-down or side-scrolling Star Fox Bullet-Hell wouldn't be a bad product to pitch for a potential mobile game. That'd be a simple, yet entertaining way to engage with Star Fox in a new style. (Though I doubt we'll get 2hu level of extravagance in the potential enemies.)

How about Sakurai adds Marcus as a unique newcomer to rep Star Fox Command.

Would that make you like him then? :troll:

Alright, I'll go get the obligatory reference.

Enjoy yourselves, folks.

*EDIT* I don't think I read the reference on that newspaper before, that must have ended well.

Star Fox Command was the only game of mine that got stolen from me that I was glad the thief took it off my hands.

Not in a million years.

I would rather have Bill, Kat, or even Andross over him. And that says alot.

The pun regularly came to my head when I was trying to catch one and I was like, "Huh, you can make a pun with Mimikyu's name and cutie. I guess it's only fitting that he's a Mimikyutie......Wait a second, that sounds way too familiar."
I just find it hilariously coincidental that a Mimic Pokemon ended up with a very similar name with a Kid Icarus enemy and the fact that the similarity becomes obvious when you make a pun with said Pokemon's name. Oh no! Sakurai's KI bias has reached the Pokemon Universe too! :bluejump:

I am aware that Mimics are a common theme. I mean, even Sudowoodo is technically a Mimic Pokemon considering it mimics a tree. Mimics are forever a common theme. But it wasn't the Mimic theme that I was trying to point out.
