You know what? I will say one negative thing about Splatoon. I really did not click with the single player portion at all. It felt like it had a bit of an excuse plot save for the Sunken Scrolls, and the gameplay just didn't strike me as very fun compared to other games with shooting elements I've played that had greater exploration and/or a faster pace. The Sunken Scrolls themselves alongside additional canon information offered by developers, while interesting, also had mind breaking amounts of Fridge Logic to them in terms of the backstory.
FORTUNATELY, guess what's rumored to be one of the things fleshed out in the Switch port due to the Switch needing to suffice for handheld gaming?
Let's just say depending on exactly what they're fleshing out, the Switch port may have a whole lot more reason for me to get it than just new tentacle styles. I can only hope the single player will have a bit more meat to the plot and some faster, more dynamic gameplay more akin to how fast and creative the multiplayer gets. And if not, well. . .at least they fleshed it out somehow. It felt neglected compared to the multiplayer no matter how you slice it, so any improvement is good.
*Quick edit* I did like the final boss fight when I played it again with my Amiibo, though, after a few times it started to feel like it had everything the other parts of the single player were missing.
. . .Still a bit linear of an arena, though.
