It's ironic how the Versus series has had Jill, Chris, Wesker, and Nemesis, and yet sometimes when I see discussion of Resident Evil characters in Smash, Leon is considered a frontrunner at least partially due to his Nintendo ties (RE4 being the only mainline RE to have an initial Nintendo release).

Well, he was considered for Tatsunoko vs Capcom's roster. But unfortunately he couldn't make the cut (like Devil May Cry 4's Nero).

I still want Leon in MvC damn it! I don't care if he's far too similar to Chris.

Honestly, I'll take Chris over Leon any day of the week.

I personally feel UMVC3's Resident Evil roster was pretty darn perfect.

Well that was anti climactic to an extent, while the dungeon was overall challenging, the trial was pretty much the bare minimum.

And Totem Kommo-o was a joke, Mimikyu one shot it with Play Rough and didn't lose HP

True, but these belong to starters and legendaries, which are kinda weird overall (though SM did get Primals and the Kanto trio stones).

...Not sure what to say about Audino however.

It was one of those Pokemon that only popped up if you had Ruby inserted in.

...I forgot that weird time where DS games got creative with the GBA slot.

The Sonic fanbase is fuelled by chilli dogs, nostalgia, and truly horrifying fan art, but every once in a while there's a pretty decent Sonic game.

Also the Sonic twitter is ****ing top notch.

But I can see why the series and the fanbase are generally looked upon as they are. Not accounting for individual statements like that one from GAF.

I know somebody who finds zombies hot. That said, I do like Nemesis as a character as is and think he should stay. Jill likewise. I'm not so sure on the other ones, but Wesker I'd keep to. The other ones are more iffy. I don't mind a 4th character at all, but it's hard to say who feels like the better choice.

Well, I just finished up Final Fantasy XV, for a game I waited 10 years for, I really enjoyed it.

Although I'm really curious about how different Versus XIII and XV would have panned out. They both may have Noctis and the gang as protagonists, Niflheim is still invading Insomnia, but just the beginnings alone are drastically different. Versus XIII involved Noctis trying to escape the city invasion, whereas XV they're not even aware the city was invaded until after, among many other differences. I'd love it if they at least release the script or whatever for the original.

The nostalgia horde is honestly the worst part of it, not for being fans, but for. . .not being fans. They have a tendency to attack the rest of the fandom for daring to like anything past a certain date. They're almost indistinguishable from the people outside the fandom attacking it. Basically identical to Pokemon RBY fans and certain breeds of Melee player save for perhaps being even more bitter and hateful than those.

The fanart's peculiar in that when you look past the blame game it's more of an ecological niche simply taken up by the most popular game or franchise capable of facilitating fan created characters and breaks from reality than an inherent product of Sonic. I've seen several other franchises produce OCs of wildly varying qualities, and fanfiction basically ensures that no franchise is safe from any of the other weirdness either. In a universe where Sonic never existed, the people that make up that portion would simply find the next easiest thing to trace and use that for experimentation, likely Kirby or Yoshi's Island based OCs if within the Smash Bros circle considering how often I've seen them pop up. To note an example of something else fitting the same ecological niche as Sonic on a large scale, I will point to MLP: FiM, which managed to gain a similar if somewhat tamer reputation this decade.

Granted, I haven't been exposed to most of "that side" since it's influence is surprisingly easy to avoid considering it's reputation. It's less Sonic's fault and more just a symptom of human nature considering it's existence innumerable places elsewhere, though.
