Comparing Castro to Hitler and Stalin is unjustified. Sure, he's far from an angel, but he isn't close to those two genocidial dictators.

Castro killed hundreds of thousands of people in his lifetime and admitted that he persecuted gays and that homosexuality was abhorrent

He also is supposed to be some kind of beacon in the minds of socialists everywhere as the true expression of communism while he sits on millions of dollars with his children regularly taking yacht trips while his people make $20 a week

The only thing stopping Castro from being worse is the fact Cuba is cut off from the rest of the world

I'd argue that their appearance is definitely a Yggdrasil reference, with Yveltal being the eagle that perches atop the tree, Xerneas representing the four stags that live on the land, and Zygarde being Nidhogg beneath the surface. It seems REALLY specific that they chose a bird, a stag, and a snake, after all, especially with Zygarde's other forms referencing Hel and Fenrir.


Lore wise though, they're closer to the Hindu Trimurti since they represent Creation, Destruction, and Preservation, respectively. But appearance wise they're definitely Norse in inspiration.

The problem with the animal thing is though that's really all there is to it, and if that's what's causing people to make the connection, then there's a lot of mythologies that you can draw from and come to the same conclusion. Deers, birds, and snakes/dragons have been in many different mythologies and media and Norse isn't unique in that regard at all, you can go to Greek, Shintoism, and many others and you'd probably find an instance of all three appearing in there. To drive the point even further home, along with Yveltal not being an eagle (it's an carrion bird not unlike vultures or crows), all three of those animals have been associated with life, death and cyclity in both mythology and media, elements that Norse Mythology lacks as the eagle has nothing to do with death, Nighogg is all about destruction and not preservation, and the deers just eat the leaves off the tree.

So to me, them sharing the animals isn't enough, there's little depth to the connection other then appearance, and even that is dubious since there's no design traits or other conceptual cues that connect them to that mythology. There's not enough there for me to believe that they conceptually have anything to do with Norse mythology, if the next games actually do give them depth and actually do something with that connection, then I'll take back what I said, but for now it's just a fan theory that's being given more clout then it actually has shown.

With that said, I do think there's some potential in the Hindu Trimurti theory since they fit the roles like a glove, but the lack of depth to the legendaries limits how much of a connection they truly have with that.

While the primary conflict was between the US and USSR, Cuba did not help and definitely contributed to the tensions between them due to things such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and driving both countries to push for nuclear arms. So Fidel Castro definitely had his role to play in the Cold War tensions, particularly since he brought those tensions so close to home for the US.

There are people who have many memories and who experienced a great deal of difficulty because of what happened in Cuba, and I am not minimizing any of that.

The fact is Fidel Castro had a deep and lasting impact on the Cuban people. He certainly was a polarizing figure and there certainly were concerns around human rights. That's something that I'm open about and that I've highlighted.

But on the passing of his death I expressed a statement that highlighted the deep connection between the people of Canada and the people of Cuba.

I forgot it was this week. PlayStation Experience is on the weekend following it too.

I'm actually looking forward to it, I sincerely had a fun time watching last year's show, even though the trailers didn't interest me too much. They said there will be more actual gameplay trailers this year IIRC so it should be even better then.
