I'm seeing Strange tomorrow. Already hyped becauseStrange in MCU means Dormammu eventually gets in MCU
Also, MCU question: Top 3 MCU movies/shows?
Civil War, Ant Man and Daredevil
Civil War was just ****ing amazing in every way
Ant Man was not only very unique, but also gave me Kamen Rider vibes
Daredevil has flaws, but the tone and Kingpin are amazing
I still can't rank things well when it's just the movies, but now you're throwing the shows in too.
Captain America: Civil War
The Avengers
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Honorable mentions go to Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy. And the previous two Cap films. Now for the explanations.
Captain America in general is one of my favorite fictional characters. A beacon of morality and the best of what people can be. Civil War was the culmination of MCU Cap's character arcs. The Russo brothers and Markus and McFeely told a fantastic story throughout the trilogy, and in Civil War, also managed to further the character arcs of so many other characters. Tony, Wanda, Bucky, Vision, Rhodey, Nat, Sam...all of them, in addition to Steve, got more developed here. Not to mention they also helped develop T'Challa, Zemo, and Peter Parker by introducing them to the MCU. And the score was actually memorable too.
The Avengers was really the first of its kind. The first culmination of a shared universe in film. It was, and still is, an absolute spectacle. Seeing Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye on the silver screen taking down Loki and the Chitauri during a full scale invasion of New York City? Ten years ago that idea would have been laughed at as unfeasible. The movie is emotional, action packed, and incredibly quotable to this day. Also shawarma.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may seem like an odd pick, and it is. But this show honestly is fantastic. It had a rocky start, even I can admit. Getting through those first few episodes is a bit of a chore. Most people say it got good after "Turn, Turn, Turn," but IMO it started picking up earlier, with the episode "FZZZT." Then it just kept getting better. Wonderful character arcs, truly compelling characters, a very comic book meets spy drama feel in later episodes, and Ghost Rider. Man. The payoff for this show has been totally worth it.
So yeah, those are my thoughts.
