In terms of Sonic and the news that came up, I'm cautiously optimistic. If they looking at the classics, I wonder if it means they'll be returning to an Adventure like formula, since that gameplay style is the closest to the classics in 3D.

Not that I particularly care about the skimpy costumes, but from what I understand her costume actually is part of the story, so that one scene completely loses it's meaning.
Then again, it's also a culture thing seeing as unless the rock I'm living under is really solid, we don't have idols.

Either way, I'm not sure if it's just the minor thing that's the issue, as they removed the older girl's lingerie costume as well.

See, this is exactly what confuses me about this whole situation. Now, I will come up and say I know nothing about idols and know next to nothing about J-Pop. But I can't say it kills the scene exactly.

To me, it's a visual change, and that's it. The scene doesn't die if one element isn't there, but if the spirit is dead along with it. And to be honest if that's the worst part of the game then it'll be a masterpiece.

That's just my two cents though, and I'm not pointing this at any one person. I'm simply talking about the issue head-on. And the whole "ruined forever" attitude some in the fanbase are having.

Pretty much this. Nothing wrong with principles, but not every principle needs to be black and white to the point of being unreasonable.

For example: I hate subscription models on principle. Long term you end up paying more money in return for features and updates you dont need. That said, I have used subscription services before. It may cost more long term, but short term you generally pay a lot less and is a viable plan for people who dont have large incomes or savings or are just strapped for cash; honestly, I'd like to see a "rent-to-own" style payment method that lies in between.

Imo it should be the same for "censorship". I understand that in principle it's bad, but it's unreasonable to gripe about minors in lingerie, especially when it's not important to the game in any way or fashion and may have kept it from being released. Heck, they even went out of their way to make replacement costumes.
