I'm confused because it was initially not supposed to be anyone surprising. Why would it break the media? Or is one of the other people who is claiming they know who it is spouting BS and claiming it's someone surprising now?

It was originally everything there except instead of "Break The Media" it was "not surprising, someone who would have made it to Smash eventually" which is why so many people assumed Inkling because Splatoon is so huge that they were definitely expecting them to be in the next Smash game if they weren't in this one.

This situation is completely absurd. It feels like a guest at a child's birthday party coming over to the kid and saying, "I know what your mommy and daddy got you for your birthday but I - won't - tell - you~." If you know, ****ing say it. If you can't say, shut the **** up.

At the end of it all, this could just be a dumb prank that a bunch of people are getting themselves in on. As long as the time frame for the reveal is met, the character could be practically anyone and they could just say, "Yep, I knew that one was coming all along."

Can't wait for Tuesday so I can play Dragon Quest Heroes and get this **** off my mind.

Break the media? That's the first I've heard of this. I think you're missing the "was going to happen soon anyways" or something to that effect though.


If this rumor turns out to be true, I'm betting it on Inklings. It just makes too much sense. Comes with a stage also strongly implies it's a newcomer franchise too. So it's very possible it's them.

I suppose that's true. But it's just weird that the original leak specified it wasn't anyone surprising but now people are talking about how it'll break the media... which is not usually something you say when it's specified that it's an expected character.

Edit: Although, Inkling is super expected but would still probably break the media in terms of how huge Splatoon is.

Inkling is fairly obvious as a possibility as has been pointed out by others, Chibi-Robo is only potentially missing the "break the media" bit, but Dixie IMO fulfills all the criteria.

I still think it's either Bandana Dee or Inkling, although someone from the Smash Wiki told me Bandana Dee may have the upper hand, or arm, I think it's a paw but I'm unsure. And I couldn't agree more with his reason, Inklings have costumes and a trophy in the game, and while that's not the reason why they don't seem right at the moment, it has to do with that, the costumes were made as cross-promotions for Splatoon, and that's the reason. Their game has been out for less than five months, and while it's been a huge success, I personally think they should have some time to sink in before being included in Smash, I think that for now the Splatoon content we have is enough. But I expect them in the next game.

I took "breaking the media" more of "it's something that's extremely popular so it'll be a huge deal"
While Dixie might be a relatively big deal, I don't think she'd break the media in that sense. Splatoon is a massive game and I think I saw it sold just as well as Mario Kart 8 in Japan even though MK8 was out way longer? So I mean, I think how popular that game is would be more of the "break the media" kind of thing. But I guess it depends on which media they actually mean.

Plus I still don't know where break the media came from. This is the first I heard of it. Can anyone specify who claimed it would break the media?

Bandanna dee is a popular character sure i'll give you that but i think your being a bit bias and selling the inklings short.Take from someone who has bandanna dee in there top 3.Inklings have the hype,the bigger fanbase,and the louder voice if any character fits "the bill" of the rumor it's them.And i'm not even an inkling supporter

I took my first trip to Vegas last week. I walked into a random casino, don't remember the name, and decided roulette might be fun to try. I didn't really want to take a huge risk though, so I said "Eh... put 5 on Black. Let's see what happens."

All of a sudden, there was a crowd around me. It felt like I'd caught the attention of half the patrons there. As the wheel spun, people were hounding me: "How do you know it'll land on black?" "Where did you find this information?" "Do you work for the casino?" I've got to admit; it felt pretty darn good being the center of attention for a while. I noticed the patrons who were not at the table were looking over and sneering at me, but that didn't bother me - I was the king of the world and fully willing to let the haters be haters. Who'dathunk such a safe bet would get this much attention?

Oh, what, do you want to ask if I won? I don't know yet. The wheel's not expected to stop spinning for, I dunno, let's say 1-8 weeks or something.

Watching this and getting a full study on Wolf made me realize that while the guy was the most unique clone, he might be taking too long because they might be fying him so he'll have more unique and much more feral animations than just steal from other characters.

I know, when he's brought up it's mostly meant as jokes, but honestly, the "break the media" part sounds an awful lot like Ridley.
I mean, if it's not influenced by the ballot, it has to be someone who Sakurai knows about, who is highly requested...

This rumor may have some solid foundation, but given there's no concrete information other than "something big is coming, but we can't tell anything", I don't put much stock in it.

It's just like reading a text leak on 4chan. This isn't ESRB or Roy/Ryu in which I can look at the information and conclude it's legit.

This is just a bunch of people claiming they know something without proving it. They could be right, but without evidence, there isn't much to discuss or think about.

If this is true it will be verified, trust me.

Way more people got a hold of the ESRB footage than many of you are aware of, and it took days for the videos to finally leak. It's not unprecedented or unbelievable for this many people to be in the know without the info truly getting out.

I will say that the behavior of many of these people screams 'I'm special, too!', but that alone isn't enough to say they don't actually know anything.
