my problem with the current FE cast is that there all sword users.I dont have a problem with sword users but there so much more to FE than just sword users.You have manakete,Lance users,tome users,Axe users,archers,peagus riders,etc.idk i mean yeah i have no problem with current FE roster in smash i would personally like to see a more weapon variety in the series(literally Robin is the only FE character to use something besides a sword)

I mean, I agree, but is there a reason to cut them?

Ah...I remember the day Ridley was teased as a boss for PyroSphere. Seemed obvious at the time. Then his fanbase was VERY slowly changing my mind, then he wasn't in the roster. Oh well. I was still so happy Dr. Mario miraculously came back to Smash 4 as his own Fighter.

As I then went on to really enjoy Ridley's boss fight on the PyroSphere. Seriously, guy just destroys the entire battle field, as well as fighters.

• Blue Toad = Toad = Captain Toad = point is he's Toad
• I wanted Kamui instead of Ephraim but he's not in the roster maker so
• I didn't add anyone from Metroid or Kirby due to lack of knowledge
• It was either Medusa or Viridi
• I only want one more Pokemon character, it was either Sceptile, Blaziken, Zoroark or Scizor. So I went with the worst choice and also my favorite.
• Considered Ninten, but nah
• Roll should kick ass again

Why did you cut Ike of all things?

Of all the Fire Emblem characters, I think Lucina is actually the most likely to come back next time, after Marth. She may be the single most clone-y clone yet, but she's ballooned in popularity since Awakening came out. I don't think there's been a Fire Emblem character that ever got as popular as her, Marth included. I can see her getting a Falco style overhaul and sticking around while the more unique playstyles of Ike and Robin get left behind.

Whoever puts Sylux in the roster first gets my vote.

I was against the shadow theories and was quite vocal about it during my time in the Leaks group.

It resulted in me pretty much being universally despised there for the entire summer leading up to the 3DS version coming out in Japan and Ridley being disconfirmed.

And then everyone was dazed and confused.

Must have been pretty satisfying for you.

Speaking as a main of him, Dark Pit's the only character I can see getting cut in a future game.

He's in such a weird position and unlike all full clones in the franchise so far, he lacks a defining unique characteristic (other than 2 different B-moves).

Pretty big if, but if he did I think he would have a decent shot at returning. He would have been "voted in" after all.

Of course, 3rd party characters could always have issues returning. They're guests for a reason.

I see Ike and Robin staying for that reason alone. The whole reason Chrom didn't make it was because he wouldn't have a unique playstyle.

See, I don't see this happening either since then you'd be alienating the fans who mained him in the first place (something Sakurai likes to avoid).

While the two B-move differences are kinda nothing, they're still something.

Eh, it was bittersweet.

It felt good to be right, but it also sucked because I like Ridley. I mean, I knew since Smash Direct that he wasn't gonna be playable, but it still stung a bit to see the complete roster and have him not be part of it once again regardless of it being a given in my book.

If I were directing the next smash bros, I would,

• Bring back every single first party veteran that isn't hindered by technical issues (characters that wouldn't be finished by the time of the game's release would be added in as fee DLC)
• Choose fan favorite newcomers
• Add in Waluigi
• Add in Ridley
  
• Give Series like Eternal Darkness and Advance Wars playable reps
• Bring back break the targets
• More new music
• Give many more Nintendo series playable reps smash bros
• Try to bring back as many 3rd party veterans as I can
• Add in Eggman
• Keep fans hyped and updated constantly throughout the development cycle of the game
• Do DLC
• Make the gameplay good
• Add in cool stages and music
• Bring back Omega mode
• Custom online matches
• Bring back Tournament mode
• Have good online
• Bring back stickers
• Bring back the chronicle
• Bring back masterpieces
• Make the game a true celebration of Nintendo history
• A Smash Bros anime will also be created as well
  
• When all the character DLC is complete a Subspace Emissary type story mode will be made for the game, so that every character can have a big role in the story mode

The only reason I could see Roy getting cut over Lucina is the fact that he's a DLC character and thus possibly more disposable.

Were you watching the fandom pre- E3 2013? He wasn't exactly Mewtwo, but people wanted him pretty badly. Plus he's had the DA and FF.net communities backing him far longer than Lucina.

. . .Then again, I'm not as good at predicting things as I like to think I am.

I called Dr. Mario being in as soon as the reason why Lucina was added was clarified, and I had weird mental fanfictions about Greninja and Dark Pit in Smash contexts before I ever seriously considered their being fully playable, but other than that my track record is kind of bad. . .

Japan doesn't think the same as USA FE fan base does.

If Roy's FE hate base meant anything, he wouldn't have came back as DLC. He was a PRE ballot fighter, which meant he didn't get in via time constraints. Japan wants vets back, that's why Roy came back. People LIKE Roy despite his role in a game not canon to Smash. It doesn't matter. He's back now, Sakurai would more than likely try to either keep him or bring him back again as DLC if the Smash fans still request him.

But look at the representation, in Smash 4 Fire Emblem has 5 reps while Mother has only 2. Mother is a dead series, but Fire Emblem is still kicking and thus will have more reps to pull from in the next game. But it certainly doesn't deserve 6 characters by any means, and Roy is just the weakest link.

Fact of the matter is, he returned in spite of him being disliked within the FE fandom. It's completely irrelevant by this point.

His Smash fanbase and Melee nostalgia was enough to warrant his return.

I'm guessing the FE and Pokemon spots are placeholders for characters from games that haven't even been released yet.

We've always gotten characters from the latest Fire Emblem and a Pokemon from the newest gen, so there's reason to expect that trend to continue.
