I don't get why people want Young Link in Smash 4.

The only reason he got in Melee is because the Zelda characters in that game are based on Ocarina of Time, which showed a younger Link. (Ganon could be an expection, since his design is actually based on the Space World 2000 demo)

Twilight Princess, which is the game that the Zelda characters are based on in Brawl and 4, does not feature a younger Link, not even in concept art (unlike Sheik), so we got the next best thing; the Hero of Wind.

And Tink's moveset is basically a Luigified Young Link; Boomerang and Spin Attack have the same properties, they can wall jump and their swords do punching sounds.

Majoras Mask bias seems to be the reason.

And/or Melee nostalgia

I thought only the 3DS exclusive DLC was transferrable.

With the 3ds version i probably won't play the Wii U version anymore (which I barely played). From the looks of it the 3ds version comes with some if not all of the DLC. So instead of using money on the DLC on the Wii U I buy the 3ds version (which I would have bought anyway meaning I save).

Great Bay is very unlikely...

They don't want a character cut from the roster of a past game and they want a Smash game where every veteran returns when really 2 or 3 veterans should stay exclusive to their game.

Actually, Chrom lost to two highly speculated characters...one of which is very similar to an existing character.

Tingle is my favorite bishie anime character.

Tingle is fine in MM because that game is SUPPOSED to be weird. In WW he's the worst thing.

Koei created a character sweet and innocent on the outside.
But in reality hunts and kills your hopes and dreams, while bathing in a river of salty tears.

Lana is salt incarnate, and that is why:
One day.
Somehow.
When you least expect it
Lana will be in Smash Bros.
And she will be wearing the skin of your favorite character.

As for Spongebob, I've talked about this a loooooooooooooong time ago. The show isn't popular at all. Spongebob is seen as just another cute character. They call him "Bob" here.

Shrek? No one really knows Shrek here. I think his movies were translated it but I've never heard or seen any mentions from any of my students. He's probably too ugly to be popular. If he was cuter...

Actually, I'm more blinded by rage that they gave their original character a costume based on one of the most beloved Zelda characters in yet another attempt to make people like her. Lana really feels like a forced and unnecessary character. Every time I see her it almost feels like I can hear Koei Techmo screaming "We're apart of the legend of Zelda now guys! Please love us!"

I'm going to stop there before I go on a rant, but I will say this- I'd of rather actually had Skull Kid than any of Koei Techmo's Original characters.

IMO, she's a very fun character and really brings some charm to the "universes colliding" concept. Without her, the story would feel really serious, and it wouldn't be as, well..."fun".
