So wait, what's the most Sakurai himself has ever acknowledged Takamaru? Are there any statements implying if Takamaru has at least been considered as a playable character for any of these games or not?

I think he may have said somewhere that he regrets not naming his cat Takamaru. Take that as you will.

I believe before Melee came out Sakurai said he would probably add Takamaru in Smash if a new Nazo no Murasame Jō game were to ever be made. While a new game never came out Takamaru has made a lot of major appearances since then, and that may or may not be enough reason for Sakurai to add him.

I'm more intrigued by the Ninja Castle at NintendoLand due to seeing such an obscure Japanese only game being acknowledged in a game that Nintendo were sort of hoping would take off like Wii Sports (help me out here with this point, please.) I just wonder why Nintendo will allow him to appear in games like that and Samurai Warriors 3 yet won't bother releasing it internationally on the Virtual Console or something? With all the Japanese only games that have shown up there, what excuse do they have for that? Especially since it apparently isn't that heavy on Japanese.

An Aussie rating company rated "The Mysterious Murasame Castle" recently.

This suggests that a translated Nazo no Murasame jo is planned to be released (probably for EShop) in the near future.

It's been almost a year since they've rated it and I wonder what's even taking Nintendo so long. Is it even that hard to have a Japan-only Famicom game international on the Virtual Console?

It is strange; Takamaru from my least desired newcomer (quite literally) to my most anticipated/wanted newcomer. I didn't even want him in the game, at all. I would have rathered all 3 of my other least desired newcomers in the game before just Takamaru. However, he is the only newcomer that I truly care about now. I want Palutena, sure. I want Chrom, sure. I want Ridley, sure. But I honestly don't care about their fate nearly as much.
What made you change your mind?
If I may ask.

Haha... :substitute:

It is quite sad; I feel as though I am on board with his character currently, but what made me change my mind? It wasn't Takamaru unfortunately. It was a combination of other characters that I love. Little Mac, is the predominant reason I changed my mind. I really want to have that East v West feel on the roster. I could so clearly envision Takamaru against Little Mac, who was my most wanted newcomer. So I need his antithesis.

The other reason, Mitsurugi. He has been my Soul Calibur main in every entry; as such, someone reminiscent of him would be really great in Smash, my second favorite fighting game series. My first favorite is Mortal Kombat, I didn't mean to insinuate that Soul Calibur was my favorite, haha.

The last reason? It is actually because of the character. I have been reading comments in this thread that assert certain things he could do as a character. The notion of invisibility is REALLY appealing to me, because, back to my favorite fighting series, Reptile is another prevalent main of mine. So Takamaru has elements from all of these characters that I really enjoy, I may not be a huge fan of Takamaru, but I am a fan of what he would represent to me, personally.

The best thing about Takamaru is pretty much what you stated.
There is almost unlimited potential for Takamaru.
He'd end up being one of the most unique characters on the roster despite being a "Sword Wielder".

The invisibility seems impossible to do when u share 1 screen on the wii u. If someone is a genius @ smashboards have figured out way to implement it in the game.

Invisibility has been done before; as I mentioned earlier, in Mortal Kombat. Absolute invisibility; it is actually a little weird because you don't necessarily know where you are either. Invisibility has also been done in Melee; albeit it wasn't absolute invisibility, in fact, it was quite gimmicky.

That's not what I meant, I meant in terms of gameplay wise its dum, not knowing where you are and your opponent. It just seems impossible to implement invisibility correctly. The move is supposed to put a disadvantage on the opponent, but puts you in that same disadvantage somewhat. They had issues in melee with that cloaking device item. So they took it out in brawl iirc.

Cuz lets say u get thrown out of the field while your invisible, then you would have to guess where u are in air, o wait.....u know what LOL nvm, unless its his special move he can deactivate and reactivate anytime which is cool.

Invisibility can be used in multiple ways it doesn't necessarily have to act in the way you described.
For instance it could be a type of counter much like Meta Knights Down Special.

What if Takamaru pulls a Sly Cooper, and he turns invisible instead of shielding? :p

I would kinda like it if his invisibility was a throwback to Melee's cloaking device.
In the way that it distorts the image slightly as he's completely transparent so that everyone gets a vague idea of where he is. To the user, at least it becomes harder for the opponent to read Takamaru.

The other idea I had, was for it to work similar to Shadow's Chaos Nigthmare from Sonic battle (minus the untouchable factor). You hold Down+B and he goes invisible while travelling accross the floor until Down+B is released, when he comes out slashing around.

A simple solution to the invisibility problem, if you want to be undetectable to opponents, but still know where you are perfectly...

You can be opaque on the Game Pad but completely transparent on the screen. :troll: In before what about players 2-4 if they chose Takamaru.

Four simultaneous gamepads confirmed!

While having Platinum/Kamiya (I'd take him doing that over Star Fox TBH) or Masahiro Sakurai take on Nazo no Murasame-Jo would be interesting, would Tomonobu Itagaki be an alright choice too? In the case of Kamiya, I hope Twitter users haven't pestered him about Murasame enough that he'd lose interest in doing it like w/Star Fox.

Yeah, I guess it was more of a thought about if elements from Ninja Gaiden Black would be OK for a new Murasame game or not.

Believe me, barely anyone asked him about it at all. Even after he played Nazo no Murasame-Jo on the 3DS last two years ago.

Well, let's hope he's still interested in doing one, regardless of that.

I think the biggest chance we have at getting a new Murasame Jou game is by getting Takamaru in Smash, making him recognizeable. Kind of like with Pit and the new Kid Icarus game - would it have been as hyped as it was without Pit being in Brawl? I'm not so sure.

This is arguably the best outcome since it wouldn't make sense to have a new title without him having an appearance in Smash first. Especially if you account for the the many American Nintendo fans that aren't aware of NnMJ's existence.

If any other older Nintendo game would make a good Kid Icarus: Uprising esque revival, it'd probably be Nazo no Murasame-Jo from what I've heard about it. I guess that might also be me hoping that another Nintendo game would come out that did as much to a series' lore as Uprising did for its own.

I'm hoping for the previous defeat of the aliens will cause them to regroup and attack, bringing epic Samurai vs Alien action :awesome:

(Aliens taking over an ancient Japanese castle almost makes me think of Gintama) But yeah, that premise is something that would be neat to see expanded upon like Kid Icarus: Uprising did for the original.

It would be nice if the actual enemies were real aliens, rather than armies during the Edo period that are ruled by brain washed castle lords.
