You are aware that Nintendo Power issues are produces months in advanced right? It's going to be hard to put in information on a site that updates daily...

I know that much, so they couldn't reveal anything we don't know already, but it would make sense to include info that we would know by the time the issue comes out.

Its kind of terrible that Nintendo's "official" magazine doesn't even have any exclusive information to offer on one of the most hotly anticipated games of ever. What motivation is there to get the magazine if it has no exclusive stuff?

They'll probably do it again on February, with a lot more information.

And that's why so many people have canceled their subscription. In my opinion seeing as Internet > Magazine I really don't have any need to pay for one (unless it came with a brawl demo [hint hint Nintendo Power] ). ^^

They had some exclusive screens, but nothing else.

Oh, and here's something to get your hopes up:
Surprises big and small await faithful NP readers in the first annual holiday issue, so we recommend watching your mailboxes closely.
This combined with the recent NP poll about demos gets my hopes up a little too much.

Ma....ga....zines? What are these things?

Seriously though, Nintendo Power and other magazines are good for nostalgia. But, they are pretty worthless when it comes to getting "new" information.

But they have cool new screenshots... like one with Meta Knight owning Charizard.

That's what I was thinking. This is a big game, and if the magnazine isn't telling us anything we didn't already know, what's the point?

I would also like to point out Nintendo Power is a terrible magazine with unfair review... I'm quite sure they would tell you Superman 64 is a GREAT FRESH GAME if no one else actually played it. EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) is probably the last great videogame magazine where you get the straight goods and bads about upcomming and new releases.

There is nothing special about it, but w/e. They'll probably have a better idea of the game around February.

Are you sure? It could come out with hints and unlockables. Like a special stage will be unlocked if you have a specific code, only supplied by Nintendo Power.

GI (Game Informer) is probably the last great videogame magazine where you get the straight goods and bads about upcomming and new releases.
Fixed. :p Actually, I don't think I've read many recent EGM issues, but I've heard bad things about it (which means nothing, because hearsay isn't dependable).

And for the record, I've seen NP give lower scores to first-party Nintendo titles than other magazines have given those same titles. *shrug*

And yeah, internet > magazines. I haven't fully made the switch yet. I still get GI, and now I get PSM simply because I got a subscription with Gamecrazy's MVP (discount on used games and extra on trade ins) membership... thing. Didn't really pay for PSM, since the cost of the membership has basically paid for itself already.

Magazines are kinda cool because it's fixed content... and if you're really trying to get info, you'll prolly read most/all of the magazine. That in turns means that it's very likely you'll read about games/things that you wouldn't if you just checked your favorites on a gaming website. So, for me, magazines still have their place. Like I said, though... I haven't fully made the switch to online news (which obviously has more space to review/preview stuff than a magazine does). I just know it's far easier to ignore sections of a website (thanks, online ads, for further developing my "I'm not paying attention to you" skills) on the internet than it is in a physical magazine.

Oh my god. If there's a Brawl demo, I'm going to be so pissed. Nintendo Power totally screwed me over so I'm not getting the special holiday thing.

Sadly this issue even f#$%ed up the release date.. I don't have it in front of me but I believe it said something along the lines of "Brawl is just a month away."

Anyway.. I'd laugh sooo freaken hard if they release the demo with the mag.. People without a subscription would just flip out.

WHY do people still get Nintendo Power magazines? It's such awful, uninformative, biased trash. There's only been a few times where they gave good bonuses, too.

How many people who claim Nintendo Power is biased have actually subscribed to the magazine at some point? I've been a subscriber for about three years, and a reader for even longer than that. They are definitely not "biased" in any way shape or form. You could argue that they are sometimes easy going with their scores, but then you'd include third party games as well. Just automatically tack off a whole point if you feel that way.

They definitely get a lot of info (and destribute it) before many other magazines/websites do though.

And they used to print all issues two months in advance. I'm not sure how they're currently doing things. The time gap feels shorter, but I really have no idea.

But that they have information doesnt mean they are good, they distribute it 3 weeks or so later, then everyone should know that. So they fail. But They have flashy covers.
