On September 17th, 2020, Nintendo unveiled their most recent Mini-Direct which was a Partner Showcase. This meant that fans got treated to all the third-party content coming to the Nintendo Switch this fall and into 2021. So, let’s take a look at what was shown off.
The first news shown was an upcoming game in the Monster Hunter series called Monster Hunter Rise. The last Monster Hunter game on a Nintendo console was Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. The game will be noted for having noteworthy changes such as increased aerobatic maneuvers which act a bit like Spider-man. The Hunter can latch onto Wirebugs to swing against expanses. A new gameplay feature also includes being able to scale certain cliffs. A number of new monsters were also revealed as well as the flagship monster, Magnamalo. Monster Hunter Stories 2 was also revealed but, beyond that, we don’t know much about this upcoming game. Both are due in Spring of 2021.
The Mini-Direct also showed off the following games:
- Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Fitness (12/4)
- Disgaea 6 (Summer 2021)
- Empire of Sin
- Sniper Elite 4 (Holidays 2020)
- The Long Dark (9/17)
- PGA Tour 2K21 (9/25)
- Hades (9/17)
- Balan Wonderworld (3/26/2021)
- Rune Factory 5 (2021)
Following the Mini-Direct was a small Monster Hunter Rise and Stories 2 Direct where the game developers gave us some new info on the story, world, and monsters found in Rise. One new environment are Shrine Ruins which has powerful monsters. The game has a very Japanese-like feel with its shrines, torri gates, and even felynes making mochi!
There will be sure more updates to come so watch out for them. Also, remember to mark your calenders as more Age of Calamity info is drop on September 26th!
Author’s Note: I personally can’t wait for Monster Hunter Rise. Last game I played was the Wii game and I look forward to jumping into it again. This was one of the better Partner Showcases.
