That was alright. Rhythm Heaven and Tomadachi finally coming back is cool. Prime 4 looks awesome. Dotemu essentially getting to make a Capcom style Marvel beat-em up is dope.

Decent direct imo. The Mahvel beat 'em up was honestly the most exciting announcement for me. Most surprising was actually Patapon and Hot Shots.

Yeah. There was Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and a remake of Bowser's Inside Story that became one of the worst selling Mario games of all time and bankrupted AlphaDream.

Also, it looks like the Power Beam was replaced with a new default setting with a BRAND NEW SUIT UPGRADE. I just wonder how the internet will handle samus being a psychic for this game?

Yeah. There was Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and a remake of Bowser's Inside Story that became one of the worst selling Mario games of all time and bankrupted AlphaDream.

There was also Persona Q2 which was probably the last notable 3DS game outside of EShop exclusives and limited time releases.

Ultra Sun and Moon and FE:Echoes are the probably one of the few 3DS games that were post Switch that sold more or about a million.

That was alright. Mainly wanted to see Metroid Prime 4 and it delivered.

That said, new Rhythm Heaven, new Tomodachi Life and the new Marvel beat-em up were nice surprises.

Ok is it me or does ZA look a lot better than its first reveal? Also that battle zone thing seems really cool. Feeling much more hopeful for it now.

It looks better than any of the games before it, but how they did it isn't ideal. Essentially, instead of learning how to render complex geometry with a free camera, they flattened everything so most of the detail work is done by flat textures. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say they just decided to handle the world design like it was a 3Ds game instead of trying to leverage the extra power of the Switch to look super cool.

All in all it's not bad, but it's still lagging behind pretty much anything Nintendo's in house studios are cooking graphically speaking. I am interested in the gameplay loop though. If it turns out not to be a buggy mess I might actually get it.

I can't wait for the new Super robot wars game, that was my takeaway from this direct.

Getter robo arc is gonna be in it and i really liked that anime when it aired a few years ago.
And unsurprisingly Code Geass is making a return, since they are selling this in the states it only makes sense to bring back a mecha series popular in the states.

I gotta say, Nintendo killed it with this Direct. I mean, Metroid Prime 4, a new Rhythm Heaven AND a new Tomodachi Life? AND a few PlayStation games?!

Also, now I definitely want Raidou in Smash.

By the way... HOLY **** Patapon AND HOT SHOTS?! I was ESPECIALLY shocked by these games! Given the returning Hot Shots characters, it seems as though the latter game is going to be a "Hot Shots Golf All-Stars" type of game!

You know what's funny about Patapon and Hot Shots being here, though? People have been making cracks over the last 2 or so years about how PlayStation (and Xbox) has no games of their own anymore (Especially with how Sony shut their Japan Studio down in 2019 and all) and that once the Switch 2 rolls around, those consoles could be sunk provided Nintendo DOESN'T shoot themselves in the foot...

And MAN, seeing these two SONY IPs come a NINTENDO console made me yelp-laugh like you all wouldn't believe.

Probably won’t happen but I hope they announce a game like Project X zone 3 or something to that extent at least if there is nothing smash related which is probably the case. But let me have some copium lol.

Well, Super Robot Wars Y was just anounced after not getting a new game for ages and Project x Zone and SRW were made by the same team....well at least when Banpresto still existed, so peraphs hope isn't dead yet for a new PxZ.

Oh yeah, it still doesn't look good, but it looks way better than the first look and is still a major improvement over SV. The game structure looks way more appealing to me now, especially with the larger focus on trainer battles which I thought felt lacking in Legends Arceus.

Well....there we go, now people are going to predict Sony reps for the next smash game. Aloy, to be specific because of the LEGO game, probably Kratos too since he has a Fortnite skin.
While i might sound a bit of a part pooper, i don't think this means anything for Smash yet, it seems like Sony's first baby steps to build a relationship with Ninttendo. If we keep getting more Sony games ported, then peraphs the likehood increases, but i'm still not confident yet.

Patapon had me screaming - could not have asked for a more wonderful set of games to kick off a Sony / Nintendo fling. Rhythm Heaven is insanely awesome as well, same for Raidou. Psychic Samus is...odd but game looks good.

That new Nintendo Today app feels custom made for Sakurai's daily updates. I'm almost certain when we get a new Smash Bros game, that's where he'll post them.

I feel like the chances of a RH stage have increased a bit, it's probably a bit too late to increase the odds for a character, unless the next smash entry is coming later than we think

RH was never a dormant IP, it just has to deal with coming late in a system's lifespan.

So RH6 will be coming out in 2040.

Rhythm Heaven coming back is something I was hoping for! But yeah I'll agree that trailer was kinda stinky (and part of me worries the robot voice was done with modern AI methods which you know exactly what kind of can of worms that opens up, even though it's probably like Tomodachi life. Probably.) and man I do not want to wait up to a year to get it. But hey, it's the one announcement I wanted to see so I'll take it.

Scary to think that Namco very much could sic the team they had handle the klonoa/pacman remakes on Ape Escape and it could very well come to switch 2, to boot.

Ok, no Kirby or FE, but really not bad at all with RH and Tomodachi L coming to Switch and MP4 and Pkmn Legends getting strong trailers.
I like the daily Nintendo app idea, though it was a little weird to have that as a closer. Idk, the rest of the Direct gave me enough hope we might see like some other new remake or something at that level as the finisher, so the ending was a bit anticlimactic. Maybe the MP4 trailer or something being the "one last thing" would've improved reception, idk.

That direct was pretty underwhelming personally. I only cared for Shin Megami tensei and Metroid. Tho Metroid doesn’t look as impressive as some leaks were hyping it up. Hopefully its looks and plays much better in switch 2 with the footage they show. Also I am lowkey starting to feel bad for Silksong fans. Dang you guys can’t win it seems .
