Actually, going back to the topic of wasted DLC potential; I think they’re should’ve been a new Adventure Mode addition with each Challenger Pack that focuses on Ultimate’s post-launch content.
I know I'm late to the party on this, I think Adventure Mode (Subspace-sequel or otherwise) should just be a free DLC addition at this point...
Is the Dragalia IP split with CyGames or is it entirely owned by Nintendo? If there's some fuzzy rights issues then Dragalia's non-presence would make sense, but I don't know if that's actually the case
I think it is split though I'm not sure to what extent, because as far as I can find, Nintendo seemingly owns the trademark but CyGames proooobably owns the characters? I'm pretty sure it's in the Nintendo Museum at least, I've seen an image that had Dragalia off in a like mobile game exhibit I think? Though this also obviously applies to things they don't necessarily own like the Bayonetta series too.
The main reason I wish Dragalia had been included is because Dragalia started like right before Ultimate came out (September for Dragalia and December for Ultimate), so they could've done something early on into Ultimate's life to sorta push the new IP they were working with?
Interesting... I wonder if Fitness Boxing is in a similar situation as Dragalia (where Imagineer at least owns the cast) or Bayonetta (where the series is SO intertwined with Nintendo, it's almost an unofficial first party IP to them)...
The Nintendo Museum was open to press today and we have photos of this character wall
This is now our list of First Party fighters, how are we feelin'?
Insert Squidward Tentacles "It's BEAUTIFUL!" meme
Seriously though, this looks amazing! Heaven knows I especially appreciate the presence of characters like Barbara, Ashley Mizuki Robbins(!), Snip and Clip, Urban Champ, Ayumi and Taro, Donbe and Hikari, and the multitude of Nintendo Sports series.
With that said... I REALLY wish Nintendo didn't re-use characters here and there. Like, they definitely had a LOT more options for characters to add to this thing other than reusing Mario and Kirby every 3 or so times.
Heck, it STILL kind of bums me out that Mona (from WarioWare, among MANY other characters I had in mind for this thing) isn't here on the mural.
So the 7 biggest characters are Mario, Link, Pikachu, Kirby, Pikmin, Isabelle & Inkling
could this be indicative of what Nintendo thinks of as their biggest franchises? what could this mean for the future of smash? not a thing I imagine
Super Mario, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and Splatoon? Yeah, these 7 being Nintendo's flagship franchises definitely tracks. ESPECIALLY Kirby, what with all of the Kirby and Waddle Dee merch over there.
Found nothing from XC3 in the mural.
Or maybe there's a second one with Noah, Mio and SNES/N64/GCN/GBA/DS era characters (plus some characters from obscure/one-off Wii/3DS/Wii U games, this also includes Tokyo Mirage Sessions)
Ngl, I REALLY hope there actually IS another mural that covers even more characters that weren't found in the mural seen above...
I can't lie, part of me wants someone to dress up as Mike Jones and take a selfie in front of that picture.
You all aren't going to believe this... I actually spoke to RogersBase on Twitter, and according to him? StarTropics IS acknowledged at the Museum!
In addition to other Nintendo things that only got Western releases and/or have a WAY stronger presence in the Western Hemisphere (Gumshoe, Aura-Aura, Eternal Darkness(!), Tin Star(!!), Uniracers (!!), and Geist(!!!))
